Aquarius’s cell salt is sodium chloride, which is common table salt. This does not mean, however, that Aquarians should heavily salt the food they eat. That will only lead to bloating, kidney disorders, hardening of the arteries, and problems with sluggish circulation. On the other hand, lack of sodium chloride in the blood results in dehydration. Aquarians need to absorb sodium chloride naturally, by eating the right foods. These include ocean fish, lobster, tuna, clams, oysters, spinach, radishes, celery, cabbage, lettuce, corn, romaine, squash, lentils, almonds, pecans, walnuts, apples, peaches, pears, lemons, and oranges. Aquarians should follow a diet that limits fattening foods and is high in protein, fresh fruits and vegetables, and whole-grain breads. Fruits high in vitamin C will keep the veins in their legs healthy. Other foods that are very good for Aquarians are chicken, veal, beets, broccoli, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, strawberries, pineapple, pomegranates, figs, dates, brown rice, buckwheat, whole wheat, yogurt, and natural cheeses.

Fresh air and exercise are very important for Aquarians in order to relieve tension and rev up energy. They should take great care, however, when doing anything that might injure the calves and ankles. Brisk walks are excellent, for that gets circulation going in the legs. Aquarians should not run even when they are in a hurry; they are likely to trip and fall. Puffiness in the legs and ankles can be counteracted by elevating the legs, and an afternoon nap keeps up vitality. They should cut down on coffee, which makes them nervous.

Aquarians are apt to get gray hair fairly early in life; they shouldn’t worry that this means the onset of premature old age!

  Aquarius’s Erogenous Zone

The sensitive area is the calves and ankles. Touching, rubbing, fondling, or kissing this part of the anatomy will significantly arouse Aquarius’s sexual desire.

Absentmindedly caress the ankle, moving up to the calf, and see how quickly Aquarius responds. Aquarians love having their lower legs and ankles laved with a sponge while reclining in a bath.

As a preliminary move to lovemaking, give Aquarius an erotic massage. Use your fingertips or fingernails, and stroke ever so gently. Begin at the ankles, and slowly describe circles around the ankle bone. Make long strokes up the calves until you reach the knees. The area in back of the calves is particularly sensitive.

While making love, any position that allows contact with the calf and the ankle will increase Aquarius’s sexual satisfaction.

  PISCES

Part of the Body Ruled by Pisces

The sign of Pisces rules the feet and toes and the mucous membranes. Pisceans are noted for their graceful, well-shaped feet, and many become excellent dancers. Their senses of taste and smell are exceptionally acute. In general, health is not robust in Pisces. Natives of this sign tend to have delicate constitutions that do not easily fight off disease. They are vulnerable to colds, sinus trouble, and water retention in the body. Pisceans have sensitive, emotional personalities, and illness is frequently emotionally based.

The feet tend to be a source of trouble for Pisces people. They find it difficult to do work that requires long hours of standing. Many suffer from corns and bunions. Ill-fitting shoes are particularly troublesome, for many Pisceans cannot seem to find shoes that will properly fit their sensitive feet. They usually kick off their shoes at the first opportunity and walk in slippers or barefooted. Pisceans are prone to athlete’s foot and other fungus infections. Gout often afflicts the toes. Bruised, stubbed, or broken toes are also common injuries to Pisceans.

Neptune, the planet that rules Pisces, acts on the general nervous system and specifically on the thalamus. The thalamus is the part of the brain that transmits stimuli to and from the sensory organs.

Pisces people are especially sensitive to stimuli around them. They are very impressionable, and often involved in creative work, music, art, and drama. Unfortunately, they easily fall prey to the influence of alcohol and drugs.

Diet and Health Tips for Pisces

Pisceans are attracted to glamorous living, which often includes overindulging in eating and drinking and keeping late hours. The key to their good health is to establish moderate habits. With a minimum of care—a well-balanced diet, moderate exercise, rest—Pisceans can feel younger than they are and keep their good looks well into old age.

Pisces’s cell salt is ferrum phosphate, which is iron. Iron is needed for the manufacture of hemoglobin in the bloodstream. Hemoglobin is the essential element in the red blood cell and is responsible for the transport of oxygen from the lungs to other body cells. Lack of iron in the system leads to anemia, low blood pressure, inflammations, glandular problems, and heart irregularities.

Foods rich in iron that Pisceans should include in their diet are liver, lean beef, lamb, egg yolks, oysters, kidneys, whole-grain cereals, barley, dried beans, beet tops, spinach, onions, lettuce, raisins, dates, prunes, apricots, peaches, grapes, apples, lemons, and oranges. Pisceans function best with a high-protein diet that is low in fat and sugar. Lean broiled meat, chicken and fish, natural cheeses, yogurt, and nuts are excellent sources of protein. They should cut down on table salt, for this makes bloat (something Pisceans are quite prone to). Coffee overstimulates Pisces and should be cut down to a bare minimum.

Pisceans are particularly susceptible to the effects of alcohol, which will age a native of this sign quicker than one of any other in the zodiac. Caution: Drugs and medicine should be taken by Pisceans only under the supervision of a doctor.

Pisces people need lots of rest to keep up vitality, which tends to be low. Wonderful exercises are swimming and dancing; both will keep them fit and glowing. They should take extra care of their feet and wear comfortable, well-fitting shoes. A warm footbath before going to bed will aid relaxation and a good night’s sleep. They should never walk around with wet feet or sit on the beach in a wet bathing suit.

  Pisces’s Erogenous Zone

The feet are the special area for Pisces that is sensitive to erotic touch. The practice of reflexology is based on a school of thought that maintains that the foot represents the body in microcosm—that different parts of the foot correspond to various parts of the body. Thus, massaging, touching, and treating different parts of the foot can stimulate and treat the whole body. If this theory is valid, it should be particularly true for Pisces.

You can use massage on Pisces’s feet both to induce relaxation and to increase sexual desire. Here is a relaxing technique: 1) Grasp all five toes and bend them toward and then away from the ankle. Repeat ten times. 2) Using thumbs and fingers, knead and rub the soles of the feet. Knead the top of the foot, using lighter pressure. 3) Gently pinch and knead the Achilles tendon. 4) Grasp the foot with both hands and gently wring, starting near the toes and working up to the ankle.

The best beginning to an erotic massage is a foot soak in warm, scented water. Follow up with an application of skin lotion all over the feet and toes, paying special attention to the soles of the feet and to the skin between the toes. Then, using just fingertips or fingernails, gently caress the heel and arch. At the ankle bone, use a featherlight circular motion with your fingertips. Move around to the top of the foot and then down to the toes. If you rub Pisces’s toes between the pads of your fingers, you will send a very definite sexual message.

Pisceans often use their feet to enhance the act of love. Pisces woman will gently masturbate her lover using the balls of her feet. Male Pisces gets added stimulation by rubbing his feet over the vaginal area.

  Part Two

  LESS WELL-KNOWN INFLUENCES

to your environment, for the Moon has rulership over the five senses—sight, hearing, taste, smell, and touch.

In astrology, the meaning of the Moon can become very esoteric. The Moon also stands for infancy, childhood, your dreams, memory, and your past. All these words might be summed up as your inner psyche. As the astrologer Landis Knight Green says, “The Moon is the threshold of the subconscious.” Often your Moon personality is expressed in dreams—both the daydreams you bru
sh aside as you go on with your daily responsibilities and the sleeping dreams that haunt your waking hours.

Because the Moon holds dominion over the emotional sphere, it influences your receptivity to others and also how others feel about you. Obviously, therefore, the Moon is an extremely important factor in love relationships. A strong and lasting bond is indicated in a relationship when the woman has her Moon in the same sign in which a man has his Sun. For example, if he is a Scorpio Sun sign and she has her Moon in Scorpio, they have an excellent chance of a long relationship because each will have a deep understanding of the other.

Many people ask me, “How can two people who have the same Sun sign be so different from each other?” I usually answer this question by asking another question: “What are the Moon signs of these two people?”

Let’s take a brief look at two well-known Sagittarian entertainers: Woody Allen and Bette Midler. They were born on the same day, December 1—Woody Allen in 1935 and Bette Midler in 1944. In both people we see the strong Sagittarius qualities of humor, independence, frankness, and a candid openness of expression. Woody Allen has a brilliant, funny, barbed wit that appeals to intellectuals. He is an auteur who produces, writes, directs, and stars in his own films made totally outside the studio system. Bette Midler began her career doing over-the-edge comedy routines in the bathhouses of lower Manhattan, playing to mostly homosexual audiences. She has gone on to major stardom in films, stage, and television, as a comedian, singer, and dramatic actress—always playing someone a bit outrageous, wacky, and rule-bending. Both entertainers have had long careers in which they broke free of boundaries and expressed their forward-thinking ideas through a sense of humor.

Let’s look further: Woody Allen has his Moon in Aquarius. He displays the rebellious attitude of the free-thinking Aquarius-Moon person who lives life his own way. In his politics, creative work, and private life he is controversial, radical, and progressive. He also exhibits the emotional detachment of an Aquarius Moon. His film roles are not deeply passionate; his characters speak trenchantly about the human condition, but don’t grab the audience’s emotions. Instead, they offer Aquarian intellectual stimulation and tickle the funnybone. Aquarius-Moon people can coldly break off relationships, and the public has witnessed this in Woody Allen’s ongoing private soap operas with the women in his life.

Bette Midler has her Moon in Cancer, and in her we see an emotional quality. She communicates great feeling in her work, and her characters exhibit a certain Cancerian vulnerability. She plays lovable, spunky, and endearing women who reach out and care for others (a Cancer-Moon specialty). As a singer, Bette Midler has recorded hit songs that have a deeply emotional appeal, including “The Wind Beneath My Wings,” a song about being supported by love (a Cancer-Moon theme). In her private life (which in Cancer-Moon fashion she keeps private), she has been in a stable and enduring marriage and raised a family.

Throughout history the Moon has been studied, revered, and worshipped. In ancient civilizations the Moon deity (usually a goddess) reigned side by side with the Sun. In some religions the Moon was even more powerful than the Sun because it dispensed wisdom and spiritual knowledge. The Romans set aside a sacred feast day for the Moon. The name for it persists to modern times, though we now call it Monday rather than Moon Day.

Scientists are still studying the Moon’s power over plant life, tides, emotions, fertility, menstruation, biorhythms, and crime. Astrologers continue to find new and subtle ways in which the Moon influences our daily lives.

The Moon in your horoscope modifies your Sun sign; it brings new forces, different motivations, and special elements to the character of your Sun sign. Your Sun sign personality and Moon sign personality are a blend, a marriage. As in a marriage, disparate elements sometimes work together to form a compatible partnership, each lending the other its strengths. But sometimes there is conflict in which opposing traits collide with each other.

If you feel that you are in constant conflict with yourself—if you feel you are two different people torn and pulled by each other—astrology can help you. Study both your Sun sign and Moon sign. Learn the positive and negative sides to these signs and try to recognize these elements within yourself. You may find that with a deeper understanding of the forces that motivate you, you will learn to be less hard on yourself and to reconcile what seems to be a confusing whirl of contradictions. On the other hand, if your Sun and Moon are in the same sign, you will probably find the characteristics of that sign doubly reinforced in your personality.

Know thyself. This is what the ancient Greeks carved on the temple at Delphi. It is an ideal that human beings have struggled toward for thousands of years. It is what astrology can teach us.

  What Is Your Moon Sign?

To find out your Moon sign, look up your year and month of birth in the Moon Tables starting on page 429.

  MOON IN ARIES

A Moon in Aries modifies your Sun sign in this way:

THE BRIGHT SIDE OF ARIES MOON You are more energetic, enterprising, optimistic, open to change, idealistic.

THE DARK SIDE OF ARIES MOON You are more impulsive, opinionated, domineering, impatient, vain.

ARIES IS AN ACTIVE, FIERY SIGN, but the Moon is cool and passive. This disparity gives great brilliance and sharpness to the senses, but also results in a nervous temperament. If you have the Moon in Aries, you have a high-strung disposition. Your sense-impressions of the world around you are swift and instantaneous, and you never doubt them for a moment. As a result, you tend to be very sure of your opinions and don’t like it when people question or contradict you.

Patience is not your long suit. You won’t spend time laboriously wading through details; you prefer to plunge right in and see what happens.

In the vibrant sign of Aries, the Moon endows you with charm, vivacity, and a special knack for getting others to do what you want. You are extremely fond of talking (about almost anything) and sound knowledgeable on a wide range of subjects. But you have a short attention span. Although enthusiasm and energy abound, the long, hard necessity of really performing often causes you to fall short of your goal. But you are quick to pick yourself up and move on to something new and exciting, leaving the old project to wither away. However, if you are pursuing a goal you really have your heart set on, you will drive yourself to the limit of your endurance.

Where you really excel is on the social scene. You are able both to stimulate and to delight, and no party should be without the wit and sparkle of an Aries Moon. In addition, you are generous when you feel kindly disposed toward someone. You give unselfishly of your time, attention, concern, and even your money. However, a Moon-Arien who feels slighted or unappreciated will sulk and pout and complain about the world’s harsh treatment.

On the plus side, you have a great passion for life. A basic optimism underlies your personality, and unless your Sun is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), you don’t hold a grudge for long. Your most striking characteristic is a hatred of restriction. You will do what you want without any interference, thank you. Because you resent advice, you rarely are willing to listen to other people’s opinions. This obviously has its drawbacks. But in a situation in which a decision must be made instantly, no one is more decisive and forceful than you. You perform best under pressure and handle emergencies as quickly as a firefighter answering an alarm bell.

In emotional relationships you struggle against being tied down or dominated. You have to be the one in control. You demand freedom in a relationship, but this is exactly what you won’t give in return. You insist on being the center of your lover’s attention. You want to be loved passionately, and you want love to be always exciting and romantic. If an affair dwindles into ordinariness, you quickly grow dissatisfied and restless.

The sign of Aries symbolically represents a fork in the road, and the lives of Moon-in-Aries people are marked by sudden change. They often reach positions of authority and are successful in the world of business and gov
ernment. As a Moon-Arien the essence of your emotional life is the love of the chase. You view life as a grand quest, and impulsively pursue love, success and attention from others. The chase, in fact, is far more satisfying than the prize itself. Achieving the prize is never as thrilling as wanting the prize and galvanizing your energy into going after it.

No matter what your Sun sign may be, an Aries Moon confers a quality of self-confidence and an adventurous spirit that runs through your personality. If your Sun is in a fire sign (Aries, Leo, Sagittarius), an Aries Moon underlines your impulsiveness and enhances your magnetic ability to sway others; you have great dash and energy. If your Sun is in an air sign (Gemini, Libra, Aquarius), an Aries Moon bestows a shrewd intellect and persuasive powers of expression. If your Sun is in an earth sign (Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn), an Aries Moon accentuates your leadership ability and lends your personality a certain positiveness and advanced outlook. If your Sun is in a water sign (Cancer, Scorpio, Pisces), an Aries Moon emphasizes imagination and intensity; you have an increased ability to create striking original work.

Whatever your Sun sign, an Aries Moon confers quickness of mind, an outspoken nature, and an inability to live under other people’s strictures.

  MOON IN TAURUS

A Moon in Taurus modifies your Sun sign in this way:

THE BRIGHT SIDE OF TAURUS MOON You are more trustworthy, determined, warm, affectionate, artistic.

THE DARK SIDE OF TAURUS MOON You are more obstinate, possessive, rigid, overcautious, a slave to routine.

THE MOON IS AT ITS BEST in Taurus (in astrological terminology, the Moon is exalted in this sign). The stable sign of Taurus steadies and strengthens the Moon’s otherwise changeable, erratic influence. The Moon in this position gives you great powers of concentration. You live your life the way you tackle a job: systematically and getting it done right. Whereas others complicate their lives, when you’re confronted with a problem you look for the most effective way to deal with it, and even if it’s personally painful for you, you get it handled.
