Toryx pulled back and winked at Evie. “Well, actually, I do have one more thing for you.”

Evie gave him a wide-eyed look. “Seriously? No. No more gifts. This is more than enough.”

“I disagree,” Toryx said as he got down on one knee in front of her and started fishing in his pocket for something.

Evie gasped. “Toryx! What are you doing?”

“I think you know.” He pulled a small, velvet black box out of his pocket and flipped it open to reveal a shimmering diamond. It was larger than any diamond Evie had ever seen. She couldn’t believe that a jewelry store on Zocrone would even sell a diamond this big.

  “Where did you get this?”

His smile widened. “I bought it in Mognerth. I had a feeling before we left that I was going to be asking you to be my wife sooner rather than later. Since the best diamonds in the Seven Galaxies are on Mognerth, I left early for dinner with Skoria so I’d have to time to find the best ring for you.”

Evie felt like her heart was going to explode with love as she looked down at her big blue Zocronian. His eyes looked so intense and hopeful as he gazed up at her. How had she been blessed enough to find a love like this? She clasped her hands over her mouth in disbelief. This moment, this life, was just too perfect. But somehow, it was hers.

“Evie Riaz, you are the most incredible woman I’ve ever known. You’re brave, kind, and beautiful. You complete me in a way I know no one else ever could, and I don’t want to live a single day without you for the rest of my life. I want to build a life with you. I want to have a family with you. I want to grow old with you. Evie Riaz, will you do me the great honor of becoming my wife?”

Tears sprang to Evie’s eyes and spilled over onto her cheeks. “Yes! Yes, a thousand times yes. Nothing would make me happier.”

Toryx’s grin grew so wide that Evie thought his cheeks must ache. He jumped up, let out a whoop, and slid the ring onto Evie’s finger. Then he pulled her into his arms and spun her around.

“This is officially the best day of my life,” he said when he finally stopped spinning.

Evie grinned at him. “Even better than the day we made it back into Zocrone alive?”

“Even better than that. And it’s about to get even better.”

  “Why do you say that?”

Toryx grabbed her hand and pulled her toward the Shooting Star. “Come on. I’ll show you.”

  Chapter Fourteen

Evie felt her heart pounding as Toryx pulled her through the sleek passageways of her new ship. Everything looked so shiny and modern and new. This was without a doubt the most state-of-the-art cargo ship she’d ever seen, and she had to pinch herself to believe that it belonged to her and her crew.

But Toryx wasn’t interested in showing her the bridge or the cargo area or the fancy mess hall. At least not right now. He led her straight to the ship’s luxurious sleeping quarters, where personalized name plaques had been affixed to the doors in gilded letters. It was a beautiful touch, and Evie admired the plaques that said “Nova,” “Maisie,” and then “Anya.” Finally, they came to the one that said “Evie,” and Toryx grinned and pushed the door open.

“Here you go. Your sleeping quarters.”

Evie gawked at how fancy everything was. The room was spacious with an expensive looking desk and chair, and an equally expensive-looking chest of drawers. Instead of the cramped sleeping pods that were usually found on cargo ships, this ship had real beds. The beds were soft mattresses over a base of blue gel that would keep the mattress secure in even the most turbulent weather, while still being comfortable to sleep on. Evie had heard of these luxurious spaceship beds, but had never dreamed she’d be sleeping on one.

“This is incredible. My sleeping quarters in my apartment aren’t even this nice.”

Toryx turned to look at her with smoldering eyes. “I’m glad you like it. But I didn’t bring you here to look at the bed. I brought you here to use it.”

With that, he pushed Evie up against the door of the sleeping quarters, which had shut behind them, and covered her mouth with his. Evie felt a rush of excitement as his body pressed against hers. Even though they’d been making love all week, this felt like something new. Perhaps it was because this time they were making love as an officially engaged couple. Evie trembled with excitement at just the thought.

She and Toryx were engaged! The sexy blue Zocronian who currently had his arms around her had committed to being hers for life. How had she gotten so lucky?

The how didn’t matter that much, really. All that mattered was that right now she was filled with a fiery heat of passion that only Toryx could cause. Her heart pounded and her stomach fluttered with anticipation of the pleasure she knew Toryx’s touch would bring. She could think of no better way to end this day and to celebrate the good things the day had brought them than to have Toryx tear her clothes off and make love to her. He must have felt the same, because he was already moving to remove her dress. He grabbed at the hem of it and started lifting it over her head.

“This dress is gorgeous, but I like what’s underneath better,” he growled out.

“I could say the same about your clothes.” As soon as Toryx had removed her dress and thrown it aside, Evie reached for the buttons on his shirt and made quick work of unbuttoning them.

As she reached for his pants and he reached to tear off her bra, he said, “Dim lights!” in a loud voice. The computer responded immediately to his voice command, dimming the lights until the room almost looked like it was lit by candlelight.

Evie looked up at Toryx and admired the soft, warm glow on his deep blue skin. “Wow. That’s a cool trick.”

He smiled. “Here’s another trick. Play music!”

The computer immediately responded again. Soft instrumental music began playing over speakers that Evie hadn’t even noticed. She looked at Toryx and shook her head in amazement. “Talk about setting the mood.”

“The mood for this?” He tore off the last of his clothes and pressed his body against Evie’s. She was already naked, and she moaned at the feeling of her skin against his. She loved his strong, warm body, and how it seemed to fit perfectly against hers. Most of all, she loved the feeling of his rock hard erection pressing against her. Right now, his dick was pressing against the bottom of her stomach, and she wanted him to maneuver himself just a few inches lower so that he would be at the perfect height to slide into her. She was already dripping wet, and so ready for him.

He would take his time, though. She knew this well by now. He liked to drag out their lovemaking sessions and make the fireworks between them last. Evie wasn’t complaining. How could she complain about the extended pleasure he always gave her? But tonight, she felt desperate. She felt like she couldn’t wait much longer to have that thick shaft of his deep inside her. She leaned forward and pushed her lips against his, showing him how overwhelmed she was with passion for him. She slipped her tongue into his mouth and let it dance with his tongue, moaning at the intoxicating taste of him.

He let out a low growl and kissed her back for a few moments, but then pulled back and grinned at her. “Always so impatient,” he murmured as he reached to run his fingers through her hair. “We have all the time in the world, Love. Savor the moment.”

Evie shrugged sheepishly. “Sometimes I just want you too damn much to savor anything. I don’t want to wait for the incredible feelings you give me.”

Toryx only laughed and dipped his head so that his mouth covered her nipples. He nibbled on first one and then the other, and Evie felt chills of delight running up and down her body.

“Incredible feelings like this?” he asked. Then he nibbled again, while raising one of his hands to use his fingers to tease at the nipple that his mouth wasn’t covering.

“Mmmm…” was all Evie could say. She closed her eyes and let the sensations of bliss overtake her. His touch filled her body with a searing heat, and she soon forgot about everything except the fire radiating across her bo
dy.

As Toryx pushed her backward onto the plush bed, she realized that she was going to be feeling that fire for the rest of her life. Toryx had promised her forever, and that meant that this fire would only grow stronger and brighter as time went on. That thought filled Evie with a fresh wave of desire, and she decided that no matter how much Toryx liked to drag things out, she could not wait any longer for what she wanted. As her back hit the bed and Toryx’s strong, muscular body hovered over her, Evie wrapped her legs around his hips and put all her strength into pulling him down toward her.

  “Now. I want you now.”

He met her eyes, his own eyes hungrier than she’d ever seen them. She’d expected him to make another wisecrack about how she was in such a rush all the time, but when she saw those eyes she knew that he was growing just as impatient as her.

“You want me now? How do you want me? Like this?” Then, without any more warning, he slid straight into her.

Evie gasped as his length unexpectedly filled her. His thick, hard shaft pushed against her inner walls, setting off a fresh round of hot fireworks within her. She looked up and met his eyes, and felt herself melting under his heat. In that moment, all of the stress and excitement of the last few weeks melted away. There was only Toryx. Only her sexy blue fiancé deep inside of her, and the world was perfect.

Neither of them spoke another word—not with their mouths, anyway. As Toryx began to move within her, Evie felt like his body was saying a thousand things. Every back and forth motion of his giant, ridged dick seemed to whisper to her: I love you. You’re mine. Do not be afraid—we’re in this life together now. Together, forever.

Evie closed her eyes and let the emotions and sensations of the moment wash over her. She’d never felt as intimate with anyone in her life as she did with Toryx. She felt more warm and loved than she ever had, and she let the happiness of those feelings wash over her.

Toryx pushed deeper into her, the ridges on his dick rubbing against her inner walls and filling her with a wonderful, tingling pressure. The soft music filling the air seemed to compliment the tender movements of Toryx’s body, and Evie felt herself being carried away completely. As the pressure and heat built up within her core to an uncontainable level, she let herself go and let her release wash over her.

It came in hot, tingling waves. She cried out with pleasure as the intense ecstasy flooded her body. She could hardly believe how quickly Toryx could make her lose herself once he was inside of her, and yet the tremors of her orgasm always went on for several long, blissful moments.

The best part was when Toryx let himself go and joined her in that bliss. She felt him doing that now. He gave one last, hard thrust, and then roared as he began pulsing deep within her. Evie’s own orgasm intensified at the feeling of Toryx’s pleasure, and together they drank in all the pleasure their bodies had to offer each other.

When finally the tremors within them subsided, Toryx slid out to lie beside her on the bed, wrapping her in his arms. The soft music continued to play as Evie snuggled in his arms, and she opened her eyes and admired how good he looked in the soft mood lighting of her sleeping quarters.

She grinned, and Toryx kissed her nose and then raised an eyebrow at her. “What’s that smile for?” he asked.

“Oh, nothing much. I was just thinking that this definitely isn’t going to be the last time we make good use of these sleeping quarters and make love on this ship.”

Toryx grinned back at her. “Definitely not the last time. In fact, it’s not even the last time tonight. The night is still young, after all.”

And with that, he leaned forward to kiss her and they were off again.

It was going to be a long night, but for once that was a good thing.

  Chapter Fifteen

  * * * EPILOGUE – ABOUT THREE YEARS LATER * * *

Toryx grinned as he entered the lavishly decorated Black Hole Brews. Zocrone might be a smaller planet, but the Zocronians knew how to throw one of the best parties in the Seven Galaxies. Right now, he could hardly believe that the pub he’d entered was the same Black Hole Brews that he visited every Friday night. The place had been completely transformed.

One section of the bar had been completely cleared of tables and had been turned into a kids’ area, with party games, activities, and food for children. In another section, the tables had been lined up and covered with colorful birthday tablecloths and balloons. Rainbows of streamers hung everywhere you looked, and above the dance floor a huge banner glittered with the words “Happy 75th Birthday Merkin.” The words were printed in Zocronian, English, and Universal.

It was only two-thirty, and Merkin’s party didn’t officially start until three, but crowds of Zocronians were already descending on Black Hole Brews. Tables had been set up outside as well, because most of the city was expected to stop by. Merkin was well-known and loved in Zocrone, especially since he and Chief Daxar had renewed their friendship a few years ago.

Toryx spotted Merkin and Daxar up by the bar, already holding giant mugs of Antimatter Ale. With them were Jarmuk and Kromin, along with Maisie and Anya.

“Come on,” Toryx said, glancing over at Evie who was standing beside him with their newborn baby girl in her arms. “Let’s go get a beer.”

“First let’s drop off your tornado of a son in the kids’ area. That way we can actually enjoy our beers.”

Toryx looked down at his two year old son, who had just taken off running across the room at top speed without a glance back at his parents. Toryx laughed. “Fair enough.”

Thankfully, the boy had headed straight for the kids’ area, where Nova was dropping off her twin boys. Jarmuk’s and Maisie’s kids were already there, as were Kromin’s and Anya’s.

Nova looked up and smiled when she saw them.

“Hey guys! Looks like the gang’s all here.”

“Yeah, the gang and then some,” Toryx said. “I can’t believe how crowded this place already is.”

“Agreed,” Nova replied. “So let’s go toast Merkin before things really get crazy.”

Nova headed toward the bar, with Evie right behind her. Toryx put his hand protectively on the small of Evie’s back as they walked. Even though they were perfectly safe here in Zocrone, he couldn’t help being the overprotective type. Especially since Evie was holding their young daughter.

When they got to the bar, their friends cheered, and quickly made sure they got beers.

“Now,” Daxar said. “Let’s toast Merkin.” The Chief held his mug high and everyone else followed suit.

“Merkin, what can I say except thank you for your friendship and all of your service to Zocrone. I’m honored to call you a friend and mentor, and if I grow into half the man you are, that’ll be a life I can be proud of. Happy birthday, and here’s to many more.”

Everyone clinked their mugs together and called out, “Happy birthday.” When they’d all taken a sip of their beers, Merkin raised his mug again.

“Thank you for your kind words, Daxar. And thank you all for throwing this amazing party for me. But I want to toast all of you as well. You’re Zocrone’s future, and you’ve done so much to bring peace and safety to our great City Dome. And I especially want to thank Toryx and Evie. As you all know, today is not just my birthday. It’s the third anniversary of the day that Toryx and Evie flew back into Zocrone with water supplies to save us all. What a great birthday present that was.”

Toryx saw Evie blushing next to him, her face turning bright pink at the mention of her heroic deed. She didn’t like to be treated like anything special for her exceptional piloting skills, but Toryx was glad Merkin was bringing it up. Evie had been the true hero that day, and she deserved recognition.

Merkin raised his glass even higher. “It’s been two and a half years since those crazy storms ended, and hopefully they never show up again. But if they did, at least I know I don’t have to worry. Evie and Toryx would be right there to save the day, bringing us water when we need it most. So here
’s a toast to them, too, and to all of you—the bright future of Zocrone.”

Toryx and all of his friends clinked their glasses with Merkin’s and took another long sip of beer. Then Toryx leaned over and kissed Evie deeply on the lips.

“You are my bright future,” he whispered in her ear. “Every day I wake up so thankful. I’m the luckiest guy in the Seven Galaxies.”

Evie blushed deeper, but then leaned up and kissed him back. “I’m pretty sure I’m the lucky one.”

Toryx would have argued with her, but the party was heating up even more, and Black Hole Brews was getting noisier by the moment. Some of Toryx’s other friends were waving at him from across the room.

“Come on,” he said to Evie. “Let’s go mingle and have fun. Later on tonight we can argue about who is luckier. Winner gets to choose what positions we use to make love this evening.”

Evie grinned. “I’m gonna win. I always win arguments. And I have some big plans for our evening, if you know what I mean.”

Toryx wiggled his eyebrows at her. “I’m not sure I know, but I can’t wait to find out.”

Evie just laughed and then dragged him off into the crowd, pulling him with one hand and cradling their daughter in the other arm.

She could argue all she wanted, and Toryx might even let her win, just to be nice. But deep down inside, he knew he was the lucky one. Zocrone was sludging lucky to have Evie here, but Toryx was the luckiest Zocronian of all.

There was nowhere in the Seven Galaxies he’d rather be than right here, being dragged around by Evie Riaz—the most beautiful woman he’d ever known, and the absolute love of his life.

What an adventure it all had been, and Toryx knew there were still many more adventures to come.
