Walter Weasel was annoyed. The uppity little hedgehogs had dared to defy him. Him – the boss of all the kids in the wood. They had moved faster than he expected and he was tired and hungry. They hadn’t even left any of their picnic for him to steal. He slunk through the grass to get a drink of water from the river and, mid-gulp, he saw them, laughing and messing about on some kind of wooden thing floating on the water.
He snuck up on them quietly and noticed that the thing was fastened by a rope to a post stuck in the ground. An evil idea began to take shape in his mind and a nasty smile formed on his face.
