Though she was right that many doors had been closed for us, many had also been opened. A smile spread across my face as I considered those possibilities.
In the end, as bizarre as it sounded, maybe moving to Santa Isadora was for the best. I couldn’t imagine what would have happened had I unexpectedly transformed in Manhattan without having any knowledge of what was going on.
And now? Well, I might have a girlfriend, but probably not. But I did have a great friend in Jermaine, and possibly Kevin if I ever forgave him.
And Suzanne and I were closer than we’d ever been. I was sure that bond would only strengthen going forward.
And family. We had family—out there. Far away, across the ocean. And they, too, were lycans. Suzanne and I needed to find them.
Our future held infinite possibilities.
Outside, the almost-full moon held my attention. Like it was calling me. The urge was there, buried deep . . . but there. I longed to transform—all the way—and simply run.
And eat.
And discover.
And explore this new and exciting world.
