In the comfort of the warm water, I gazed on my reflection. I saw myself, strong and aging, but in a good way.
Thin ripples of liquid moved across my mirror image. Finally able to feel some sense of balance, I leaned my head back and fixed my eyes on the skylight in the ceiling. Beyond the gaseous chemtrails, the sun was setting, turning the sky a deep orange.
The end of the world… Maybe we’d beat it, this time.
Or maybe, we weren’t meant to last.
