“No matter what happens, once we find the orb, I want you to be there with me. I want to take a chance on us.” She smiled back at him. “That is if you’re still willing to?”

He pretended to think about it, leaving her hanging. “How about we just see where this goes?” he joked. She play pushed him and they laughed. “Of course I am. I’ve been waiting for you to be ready.” They turned to find that everyone was watching them, and Kensie blushed.

“I’d better get to work.” She tried changing the subject as she walked over to pick up the artifact and uncovered it. As soon as her hands touched it, glowed more brightly, and a surge of energy entered her body, making its way to her brain, where it was searching to see if she had pure intentions before revealing anything to her. Kensie’s entire body felt strange, like someone was inside her, and just before she was about to let go of the artifact, she began to see mental pictures of where she needed to go.

Buildings started to become more detailed as if she were hovering over a city. “You must go there first and you’ll receive your next clue,” the energy inside her head said and then disappeared back into the orb. She quickly set the orb down and its color began to dull. She noticed a crack that hadn’t been there before.

Agent Stone covered it back up. They were worried about Kensie and flocked to her side. She repeated what it had said, but she didn’t tell them the location in fear of the Elite or someone working for them figuring out where they were going to kidnap or torture them for information.

“It’s safer not to tell you just yet. We have to go before Morgan and her father find out the truth.”

“I’ll take your family with me and keep them safe along with the artifact. You can always come back if you need it again,” Stone said to her.

“Tell them I’ll be back soon, please. They’re not going to be happy about me up and leaving without saying goodbye,” she said sadly.

“I’ll let them know.” Agent Stone headed out of the house.

  Morgan

That evening, Morgan, her father, Marcel and some of the guards were in a boardroom across town. The Elite had come to check out the artifact in person. They wanted to be certain it was the real thing.

Everyone had taken a seat. Aaron could hardly contain his excitement, because he knew that he would be rewarded for finding it.

Marcel had come along with Morgan for protection. Nobody knew how this would go over with the higher-ups.

Marcel leaned close to Morgan’s ear. “I have a bad feeling about this. We need to leave. Now,” he whispered to her.

Morgan got chills all over her body. She felt something wasn’t right, and heeded his warning, She remained poised so nobody knew anything was off with her. She turned to her father.

“I need to use the lady’s room. I’ll be right back.”

Aaron nodded and waved her off. Marcel went along with her and as soon as they went out the double doors of the room, they saw a handful of guards standing there waiting for something.

One of the guards stopped them. “Where are you going?”

“I have specific instructions to take Ms. Kelly to her doctor’s appointment,” Marcel told him.

The guards exchanged a few words and let them go. Morgan and Marcel walked side-by-side as they headed towards the exit. They heard a commotion from where they just were, and turned to see the guards had rushed into the boardroom. There was silence and then shots of gunfire erupted. Marcel took her hand and ran outside to his black SUV, and took off as fast as he could to get away from whoever would be coming after them.

Morgan sat in her seat in shock. “He’s dead,” she whispered. “That was always the plan, they were going to kill us.” Then the tears poured out.

“Looks as though they were going to kill you both either way, and now they’re going to be coming after you. We need to go into hiding until things cool down. I’m very sorry about your father, Morgan.” He reached over and held her hand.

“Thank you, you saved me. You could’ve let me die instead.”

“Morgan, you’re nothing like them and you deserve a new start, and I’m going to help you.”

How would he know? He had no idea what I was capable of, but he was about to find out soon enough...

  Kensie

Kensie struggled on whether she should tell the others about where they were going as she stood in the middle an empty living room. The others were standing off to the side talking and giving her a moment to come to terms with what she needed to do.

Something inside of her felt off. Whatever the foreign thing that had entered her body was, it left her feeling strange. She thought it was possibly a side effect from using it, and she hoped it would go away.

“Do you think they know by now that it’s a fake?” Riah asked walking over to Kensie.

“I bet they do and they aren’t going to be happy. Let’s get ready to get out of here.”

Jaymes and Jackson came over to the ladies. “Where to?” Jaymes asked Kensie.

A smile spread across her face. “I think it’s time that I took all of you on this time travel.”

Jackson grinned. “I like your new take-charge attitude,” he flirted.

Jaymes shook his head. “I’m going to purposely leave you behind if I have to continue listening to that,” he joked with him.

“Boys, if you haven’t noticed, she’s ready to become the leader and I say: it’s about time.” Riah high-fived Kensie.

“We’re going to find the scientists who made the chip and see what their intentions were with it. Hopefully, it’ll give us a lead. That’s not all, we’re going to be hunted everywhere we go, we need to be better prepared. All of that is going to lead us to Europe eventually.” she explained.

“I know someone that can help if we need it. We have enough gear for the time being though.” Jackson said.

They all joined hands and Kensie squeezed Jackson’s, excited to take another journey with him and their friends. He flashed her a knowing smile and then they all poofed into thin air.
