Like this, he could pretend life had always been this great, this loving.

  Surrounded by loved ones.

Brianna and Nami had talked Tamsin into going back to Spokane with her and Beck’s sisters for more shopping, fortunately. So once everyone else left, Gillian, Trent, Peyton, and Ken settled in Peyton’s office to start going over business. About an hour into it, Trent had to leave to go join the Enforcer meeting with Dewi and the others. Then Gillian ended up being needed by Asia, leaving just Ken and Peyton.

The older man sat back in his chair. “We don’t get many opportunities to talk alone and in person like this.”

“No, we don’t,” Ken said, suddenly feeling like maybe there was more to today than just pack business.

“I’m actually glad this worked out the way it did, because I do have something to talk to you about.”

  Uh-oh. “What’s wrong?”

“Nothing’s wrong. Why does everyone automatically assume when I want to talk to them alone that it’s bad?”

“Uh, maybe because you’re the pack Alpha?”

“True.” Peyton sighed. “This isn’t bad, though. I have a favor to ask you.”

“Is this going to be like the last favor you asked me?” Ken snarked. “Because she hated having to wear a fancy wedding dress.”

  Peyton laughed. “Um…nooo?”

“That sounds like a yes to me,” Ken said.

  “Please?”

Ken knew he owed a massive debt of thanks to his brother-in-law. “All right, get the ask over with. Stop keeping me in suspense.”

“You know, it’s not bad. Really, it’s not.”

Ken suspected he was going to regret this. “The more you say that, the worse I assume it’s going to be. Let’s hear it.”

Peyton smiled. “Trent and I need your help to keep Dewi’s baby shower a secret from her.”
