I'd moved in all my things last week. I hadn't spent one night without Ash since we had mated, and I finally acknowledged that it was pointless to not move in.
Izzy giggled, going to the closet and throwing open the door. I gasp, my hand flying to cover my mouth.
I took a slow step forward, eyes locked on the beautiful eyelet dress.
“I hope you don't mind. It was mine when Tobias and I got married,” Lila said, coming up behind me and sliding an arm around my waist.
I was surprised. Lila was slim, and this dress would fit me.
She blushed when I looked between the dress and her. “I was nearly five months pregnant with Elliot when we got married.”
Izzy gasped. “I didn't know that.”
I giggled.
“Well, do you like it?” Lila asked, pushing me toward the dress. “Try it on.”
“If you don't like it, dear, I have a couple other options for you,” Gigi put in.
I shook my head. “No, I like it. Could you…?” I pointed at my back.
They helped me put it on, and it was beautiful. But it suddenly occurred to me that I had just put on a wedding dress. Tears filled my eyes.
“He planned this, didn't he?”
Lila nodded. “My son, he's something, isn't he?”
I nodded back, unable to speak. I was very lucky, and I knew it.
I let them fix my hair and make-up, then they led me downstairs, where my father was waiting. He offered me his arm, but I paused.
I reached for his face, touching the eyepatch he wore. “Will you take this off, for me? Just for now?”
He shifted on his feet, discomfort obvious. For a long moment, I thought he would deny me, but then he nodded. Moving in fits and starts, he pulled his eyepatch up and off.
I went to my toes to kiss his cheek. “I love this scar,” I whispered to him.
He frowned. “You do?”
“Yes, and you know why?” When he shook his head, I tilted my head and touched the mark in question. “Because this is proof that you love me. You saved my life. Were willing to die to save me. You were my hero.”
My dad flushed pink.
“I love you, Daddy.”
He pulled me into his arms, taking a shuddering breath. “I love you, too.”
Izzy passed me a bouquet of Queen Anne's Lace and sunflowers, my two favorites. My dad offered me his elbow and led me to the back door. Gigi walked up next to me and kissed my cheek.
“You know Aaron and your papa had a knock-down-drag-out fight about who would walk you down the aisle?”
I laughed, sniffing. “I should be mad about this. For Ash just…steamrolling in a wedding. But I'm too happy.”
My dad squeezed my arm. “You deserve it. Now, how about we get you hitched.”
I gave a watery laugh, nodding.
Everyone but Dad swept outside. I took a deep breath, irrationally nervous. I loved him, and we were better than married already. It made no sense for me to be nervous.
Dad squeezed my arm. “Relax, honey.”
I shook my head. “I'll be fine once I see him.”
“Well, then, let's bring you to him.”
He led me outside onto the deck. At the edge of the wheat field, a lattice arch had been erected. I hadn't seen it before, so who knew where it had come from. Someone had strung up twinkle lights and filled it with flowers. Underneath that arch, Pierre stood, and next to him… Ash.
Ash in a suit. A deep navy with a silver tie. Damn.
I licked my lips, my eyes hungry and appreciative.
I giggled softly and my dad looked down at me, leading me down an aisle lined with pack members.
“What's so funny?” Dad whispered.
“Nothing. I just can't believe he's mine.” And I couldn't.
“I wish your brother was here.”
My heart ached, but the pain wasn't the same. Not quite as acute. “He is,” I said with absolute certainty. “He's here, with me always.”
We moved closer, and Ash's eyes were locked on me. His expression… His face was so soft, and I realized that I was the only one who got to see that look. It was mine, too.
He moved to me when we reached the end of the aisle, taking me from my dad. Dad kissed my cheek and stepped aside.
And then I fulfilled a dream I'd had since I knew what boys were. Since I realized that Ash was my perfect boy. I married him.
