I nodded, opening the door to my house and walking inside with her close behind me. “You seem nervous,” I pointed out, and she nodded.

“Sit down,” I told her, nodding my head toward the couch. I followed her, sitting down in the recliner next to the couch. “What’s wrong?” I asked, hoping that it had nothing to do with her or her health.

“I…overheard a conversation Crow was having on the phone with someone this morning,” she started to say, but then stopped as if she had already said too much.

“Go on,” I said, wanting to know what that fucker said.

“Promise me not to tell him I said this. I’m scared he’ll…hurt me.”

I reached for her hands and held them tightly in mine. “Kip…tell me what you heard.”

She took a deep breath, closing her eyes for a moment and then looking back into mine. “He talked about getting away with murder and…also getting away with the fire. He said something about putting you back into jail and…taking over the club as National President.”

Instantly, my hate for that guy grew stronger, and I finally had a reason to make him lose that patch he didn’t deserve.

My body tensed, and I took it upon myself to make sure Crow would never set foot into my clubhouse again.

“And you’re sure that’s what he said? Anything else I should know?”

She looked scared, and I hated that Crow made her feel that way.

She nodded. “He wants to get rid of Texas.”

That was it. I didn’t know how much time I had left, but I needed to get to Texas as soon as possible.

“You did the right thing telling me, sweetheart,” I told her, lifting her hands up to my lips to kiss the back of her fingers.

Getting rid of Crow wasn’t going to be easy, but I would give anything to lock him up.

  Chapter Nine

  Wilder

“And you’re sure that’s what he said?” Texas asked Kiplyn as we all sat around the table in church. Usually, no women were allowed in here, but this was serious, and she was our main source. It was only Kip, Texas, me, and Officer Tanner in the room.

He was the only cop we trusted and the only cop that trusted us. Unluckily for me, he only started working in this town two years after I already got locked up.

  “Yes,” she said.

Texas sighed, running his hand through his hair and watching her carefully.

“If you’re telling the truth, and if Crow really was the one setting that fire to put Wilder behind bars, I’ll need your help to get him to confess to you,” Tanner said.

She turned to look at him, then she quickly shook her head. “How am I supposed to do that? He’ll find out that I’ve heard about it.”

“Not if you play along with his little game. Make him think you’re on his side. Persuade him into thinking that he can trust you. And once he confesses, I have a good enough reason to handcuff him.”

Kiplyn looked unsure and scared. In her position, I would be scared, too. Crow is a mad man. Not everyone has realized that yet.

  “I can’t,” she said.

“So, you’re telling me everything you’ve just told us is a lie you made up?” Texas asked.

  “No!”

“Then get him to fucking confess! I’m not gonna sit here and wait until he shoots a fucking bullet into my head.”

“Calm down,” I told him, looking at Kip again. “Sweetheart,” I said, cupping the side of her head with my hand. She looked into my eyes, her bottom lip starting to tremble slowly.

“It’s not gonna be easy. But we’ll have people watch you and Crow to make sure he won’t mess with you. We’ll monitor every single one of his moves.”

She studied me for a moment, then looked over at Tanner. “Can I get a gun? Just in case?”

We all chuckled, and I thought about her holding a gun. “I’m pretty sure he’ll find that gun sooner than you can ask him about the fire,” Tanner said.

“We’ll go through every single step. You’ll be prepared for it. In the meantime,” he turned his head to look at Texas, “you make sure every other guy knows about what’s going on. Make sure everyone’s ready for a possible blowout. But most importantly, make sure you’re safe. You’re the target.”

Texas nodded, looking back at me with a cocky grin. “That fucker’s got nothing on me.”

  Chapter Ten

  Kiplyn

I practiced my lines as well as possible. Tanner helped me with everything I had to ask Crow to get him to confess, and Wilder was there with me for support. He also helped me seem more confident, so Crow wouldn’t be suspicious.

Three days had passed, and I was sitting in Tanner’s car with him and Wilder a few blocks away from Crow’s home. He gave me a new car key, which hid a tiny camera. He told me to put in on the coffee table or wherever it would get a good shot of Crow. I was also wired, so I had to make sure he wouldn’t try to take my clothes off.

I had texted him a few hours before and asked if he’d be okay with me coming over for a while to spend some time. That wasn’t too sketchy, and he luckily agreed.

I was nervous, but I knew that at least four of the guys from the MC would observe the house in case something happened or I needed help. We decided on a safe word, and when I’d say that word, Tanner would hear and knock on Crow’s door.

“Redwood,” I repeated quietly, and Wilder squeezed my thigh.

“You’ll be fine. I know you can do it,” he said, motivating me to frame my, well, ex-boyfriend, I guess.

I looked at him with a smile that didn’t meet my eyes, and he leaned over to kiss my forehead. “Ready?” he asked, and I nodded with hesitation.

“We’ll be right here,” Tanner said, and I stepped out of the car, holding the fake car key tightly in my hand.

Before I walked up the path to Crow’s door, I turned one last time to look at Wilder. He gave me a nod, then lifted the corner of his mouth, encouraging me even more.

I had no idea what was going on between us. I missed him, even though he was close every day. I wanted him to hold me when Crow had his arms wrapped around me, proudly displaying me in front of the whole club. But Wilder was the only one I wanted.

As I reached the door, I took a deep breath and rang the doorbell. Just a second later, Crow opened the door with a cigarette in his mouth and an annoyed look on his face.

“Hi,” I said, but I wasn’t sure he heard it.

“You okay?” he asked, letting me inside.

  “Yes, you?”

He shrugged, and with his lack of enthusiasm, I was suddenly more confident about the whole mission.

  Chapter Eleven

  Kiplyn

I set down the key on the coffee table, making sure the camera in it pointed directly toward Crow, who sat down on the couch. He looked at his phone while I sat down next to him, keeping a little distance between us.

“How was your day?” I asked to ease into a conversation with him.

“Okay. Had some shit to handle.”

I nodded, looking down at my hands and picking at the skin on my fingers. I was used to this. Usually, when I came here unannounced, he used that chance to take me to bed. We didn’t talk much, not lately.

Since this quietness didn’t get me anywhere, I decided to start with the questions I’d implanted into my brain before coming here.

“A friend of mine accidentally started a fire in her home.” I chuckled to make it seem like it was a funny story and not a way to get to his secret. “She burned down her whole bookshelf. I would be so upset if that happened to me,” I said.

He let out a laugh, but it didn’t seem authentic. “Shit happens.”

I nodded, looking back down at my hands. “I’ve played with matches in my room before when I was little. I can’t imagine how fast something would catch on fire. Just by accident.”

“There’s a small chance that you’ll light shit on fire with one fucking match. To create chaos, you’ll need something better than that.” />
How was I already going in the right direction? Tanner told me that it could take hours to finally get the conversation to a point where he would confess.

“Have you tried before? I mean…did you ever try and make a big fire? I once saw a huge bonfire by the lake. Some college kids lit it.”

Crow nodded and put his phone away, finally looking me in the eyes. “There are lots of things I’ve tried.” But that was all he said. “Are you hungry?” he asked.

  Great. He changed the subject.

I shook my head and smiled. “No.”

“All right.” He reached for his phone again and opened an app to order food. I watched him, wondering how I would get him to talk about what he did four years ago.

  Chapter Twelve

  Kiplyn

Three hours passed, and I watched Crow eat a whole pizza, drinking four beers and staring at the TV ahead of him. That wasn’t what I expected when I first came here, but his drinking was maybe one way to get him to confess.

“Would you like another beer?” I asked, getting up from the couch and walking into the kitchen. “Yeah,” I heard him say, and I got one out of the fridge.

As I walked back to the couch, I looked down at the car key, wondering what Wilder and Tanner were thinking.

I sat back down on the couch and held the beer to Crow, watching him open it and taking a sip. “You sure you’re not hungry?” he asked, and I shook my head. “I’ll have dinner with Duke tonight.” That wasn’t even a lie.

He studied me for a moment, then sat down his beer and moved closer to me. “How about some fun before you leave?” he slurred, and my heartbeat picked up its speed.

“I, uh…” I stuttered, hoping he wouldn’t tear off my sweater. “I’m not really in the mood…” I told him, which was again: not a lie.

“I am.” He smirked, kissing my neck. His hand moved along my thighs, and I hoped he would keep them there. Not only was I being touched against my will, but a cop was watching it all go down. Wilder, too. I hated the thought of him having to see this.

“Crow, don’t,” I managed to say, pushing against his chest. He didn’t move, grabbing one of my hands and holding it tight.

“What’s the matter, huh? Are you thinking about someone else? I see the way you look at that piece of shit,” he growled. He meant Wilder, and the amount of alcohol he already had in his body made this whole situation worse. He wasn’t fully drunk, but you could tell he wasn’t thinking straight anymore.

“Tell me. Are you thinking about that asshole?” he pushed, and I shook my head.

“No,” I croaked out, hoping my third lie would get him to stop.

“You’re a fucking lying bitch!” His voice got louder, and I finally got a chance to move away from him.

“Crow, please stop,” I told him. “You’re scaring me.”

He let out a hard laugh. “Scaring you? Shit, where can I get a girl that goes down on her knees in front of me without bitching about it? You think that motherfucker will be happy if you act like this around him?”

I’d never seen him like this. I tried to get more space between us and got up from the couch. “Crow,” I begged. “Please stop.”

“Since he’s back, you’ve been acting different,” he spat. “I should’ve done more than setting that damn house on fire.”

That sentence wasn’t enough for Tanner to go in there and arrest him. He hadn’t admitted to doing it yet, and I was impatient, staring at the screen, watching Kiplyn standing there terrified.

“What do you mean?” she asked, her voice soft and shaky.

“What do I mean?” Crow was standing there, towering over Kip, ready to use her as his toy. If he wouldn’t confess soon, I’d go in there myself to take him out.

“That stupid piece of shit didn’t do anything, yet he went to prison, letting me take over his fucking position in the club.”

Still, that wasn’t enough to arrest him. Tanner needed to hear my name to make sure Crow would be put in prison for more years than I had served.

“W-Who do you mean?” Kiplyn said, remembering what Tanner had taught her. She knew he had to say my name, and she was trying to get it out of him.

  “Who? That sonofabitch Wilder!”

And that’s when Tanner moved. We both got out of the car, followed by two more police officers stepping out of a different car.

We moved quickly, kicking in the front door.

“On your knees, hands behind your head, now!” Tanner shouted, and I pulled Kiplyn into my arms to protect her in case Crow pulled a gun.

Luckily, he didn’t, and he stared at Kiplyn with a look of pure spite and anger. “You fucking bitch,” he growled, and Kip turned her head to bury it into my chest.

“On your knees!” Tanner repeated, and finally, Crow dropped to his knees, holding his hands behind his head.

“I got you, sweetheart. It’s all over,” I whispered against her hair, kissing the top of her head to reassure her.

It was over, and she was the reason why Texas was safe, and I was spared from another mistake.

  Chapter

  Fourteen

  Wilder

  One month later

I had to go through trial all over again and was an eyewitness to what happened that night at Crow’s home. Kiplyn was brave, telling her whole truth in front of the judge and helping to get Crow behind bars.

Because it turned out that I wasn’t guilty of starting that fire and having to spend four years in prison for literally nothing, I was given a large amount of money as compensation for false imprisonment. I started renovating my house with that money and helped some of my brothers out who were in debt.

Kiplyn was doing better. She had suffered from shock after being verbally and physically abused by Crow, and I was happy to see her getting better with each day that passed.

I didn’t keep my distance from her, wanting to be the one she could turn to when she needed support. I took it slow, not wanting to scare her or force her to do things she didn’t want to do.

Luckily for me, we were right where we left off before they locked me up.

Her leg moved over the bulge in my shorts, and I moved it back over with my hand gripping her thigh. Her arm was wrapped around my waist, and I kept scratching her head the way she liked.

It was morning, and after a movie night with her, I was too tired to get back up from her bed and go home. She had asked me to stay, and I was more than happy to.

“Morning,” she mumbled against my neck, and I smiled at the sound of her sweet voice.

“Good morning,” I said, kissing her forehead and letting her tease me once more with her leg.

She pushed herself up on her elbow, looking down into my eyes with a smile on her face. I watched her study my face, and I couldn’t get enough of her.

Cupping her cheek with my left hand, I let my right move over her bottom, squeezing just enough to make her bite her bottom lip.

“I missed this,” she whispered, and I licked my lips, ready to kiss hers. “I love you,” she added.

“I love you too, Kip. And I promise you…from now on, I’ll keep you close forever.”

She smiled brightly, then, finally our lips touched. I turned her on her back, leaning over her and deepening the kiss. My hand ran along her hips and waist until it cupped her tit, squeezing tightly.

A moan escaped her, and I felt my dick twitch. I pressed it against her middle, making her squeeze my sides with her legs propped up next to me.

“You’re beautiful,” I whispered into the kiss, and her fingers started to tug on my hair. “I want this off,” I told her, pulling at the oversized shirt she was wearing to sleep. Other than that, she had only her panties on, and I liked the fact that those were coming off, too.

I broke the kiss to help her get out of the shirt, then I threw it to the ground. I looked at her tits, perfectly displayed for me. With one lick over her
nipple, I did the same to the other and then sucked on them while kneading the other to give both the same attention.

Her hips moved under my touch, and I rubbed against her, making her feel just how much wanted her. It’s been five years I’ve known her, and this was the first time we got this close.

“Wilder, please,” she begged, lifting her hips once more to show me just how much she wanted me. I let go of her breasts, trailing kisses up to her neck and reaching down between her legs to run my fingers over the wet fabric of her panties.

“Fuck,” I mumbled, kissing her neck and rubbing her clit above the thin fabric. She moaned again, and I decided that I couldn’t hold back any longer.

I got on my knees, pulling down her panties and throwing them to the floor, followed by my shorts.

Kiplyn eyed my body, moving slowly from my chest down to my cock. Hard wasn’t strong enough to describe what it was.

I grabbed it with one hand, moving up and down the length, then running the tip of it between her folds.

“Oh, Wilder,” she moaned, lifting her hips again to get closer. “Please,” she begged.

I couldn’t bite back a grin, and I pushed her hips down so I could position myself between her legs. With another look into her eyes, I leaned down to kiss her and then pushed inside of her, slow but determined.

That was it. That’s what I’d been wanting since the day I met her in the kitchen of the MC. She completed me, and I sure as fuck would never let go of her again. Ever.

“You’re mine, sweetheart,” I said into the kiss.

  “I’m yours, Wilder. Forever.”
