That was the trouble everything had been for an easy life and look where it had gotten her, a girlfriend she didn’t love and had cheated on her and a job she hated. Well it was not going to carry on, tomorrow was a new day, a new beginning, she was going to embrace it and do something just for her. Even though she was petrified.

  CHAPTER TWO

Skylar stood at the end of the aisle, she wore a black tuxedo with a low- cut white silk blouse, next to her stood her boss, Megan Riley. Megan wore a pale blue dress and she had her hair in ringlets both women looked stunning. There was only forty people in the congregation all the men in their dark black suits with their girlfriends and wives adding colour to the gathering, how they all stood no-one could ever doubt that they were all policeman.

The music started and Skylar turned to watch Sandie walk down the aisle. Her red hair had been put up in a bun. Megan’s breath caught in her throat when she saw her wife Jess in a navy trouser suit with a white silk blouse, guiding Sandie to them.

The three children followed holding hands. The girls wore pale blue dresses similar to Megan’s and Daniel wore navy trousers the same as Jess. Ruby, Ellie and Daniel followed slowly, Ruby looking around at everyone until she spotted Megan.

“Mamma we here”, Ruby’s voice carried over the music, she waved at Megan. Megan laughed Jess whispered something in Ruby’s ear. Ruby and Ellie went over to stand by Megan, Jess grabbed Daniel’s hand and pulled him close, he was the youngest at two years old, and she didn’t want him wandering.

It was a simple service they hadn’t wanted too much fuss they had arranged a buffet in Jess and Megan’s farmhouse, with drinks. Skylar was nervous but managed to give a heart- warming speech thanking everyone, they hadn’t much money, so they had been grateful to Jess and Megan

for laying on the food. Megan decided to say a few words and gave them an envelope for their wedding present, they were speechless when they saw the tickets for their honeymoon.

They had a collection at work and Jess and Megan had put the rest for all the help they had given them when they were starting the farm, and when Megan had been raped by her own Sergeant. They couldn’t believe it.

“Thank you” Skylar said “I don’t know what else to say, I ended up having my dream job because of you. I found my wife because of you and now this, thank you isn’t enough ma’am.”

  Everyone laughed, “Oops sorry.”

“Well I suggest you get ready and pack your honeymoon starts tomorrow.”

Skylar and Sandie drove down the drive to the cheers of the crowd. Once home Sandie started to pack for the honeymoon, Skylar put her arms around her.

“Just stop for a few minutes.”

Sandie put the clothes on the bed.

“That’s better, I need to hold you.”

Sandie smiled, and took a deep breath.

  “I love you”

“I love you too, it was a magical day wasn’t it.”

Sandie nodded her eyes fixated on Skylar’s breasts.

“I believe you are checking me out Mrs. Roach.”

“Is it still called checking you out when you’re my wife.”

Skylar leaned in and kissed her

“Can I take you to bed, Mrs Roach.”

“I think apart from saying I do, that’s the next best thing you’ve said all day.”

In the taxi, they were excited although Sandie looked a little pale.

“I hope we haven’t forgotten anything in the rush, we’ve got the passports and tickets and money.”

“It doesn’t matter about anything else, does it?” Skylar, answered.

“Well if you hadn’t kept me awake most of the night, I could have packed properly.”

“It wouldn’t have been as much fun though. Are you okay Mrs Roach?”

“Just a bit nervous of flying Mrs Roach.”

“Don’t worry it will be great, I’m here to look after you.”

  “Forever”

  “Forever”

  Chapter three

Leia woke early, she showered and changed into jeans and a t shirt, she slipped on her leather jacket. She had her passport and money in her bag that was slung over her shoulder, she’d left her work suit and blouses and shoes in the wardrobe she was determined she wouldn’t need those again. On the bed she had left an envelope saying she was sorry, but she was leaving she needed a change. She didn’t care if Julia wanted her to go or not, she would be embarrassed if in the cold light of day, if she had changed her mind, but she would still go somewhere. She went up to Julia’s room and knocked. Julia flung it open.

“Quick come in.” she dragged her across the threshold and closed the door. “We’re still going aren’t we”

Leia nodded, “I was just making sure.”

“Yes, I can’t wait, can you wait with me downstairs in the lobby, you leave five minutes before me and I’ll get the taxi to pick you up, on the driveway.”

“What time are we leaving, you told your father eleven.”

“The taxi is booked for ten thirty. Are you going to have breakfast downstairs?”

“No, I’m going to McDonalds, it’ll be a long time until I have another one, and I don’t want to bump into anyone else at work. I’m going to take my car and I will leave it here my brother can come and pick it up. I’ll leave the keys at reception.”

“Okay, see you on the driveway later.”

Julia kissed her quickly on the cheek.

  “Thank you.”

Again, Leia felt butterflies in her stomach.

She sat in McDonalds eating a double sausage and egg Mc muffin with two hash browns and a black coffee, why had she drunk so much last night. Everything was going around in her head, was this the best thing to do. She knew the answer would be no, was she being rational, the answer again was no. So why did it feels so exciting and right. Sod it, she was going to enjoy it for two weeks and see what happened. She rung her younger brother.

“Luke hi, I want you to do me a favour, can you pick up my car from the hotel, sometime this afternoon.”

  “Why.”

“Cause that’s what brothers do, help their sisters.”

“Where do you want me to take it.”

“To mum and dads would be really nice.”

  “No”

“Okay keep it at yours, for three weeks, and if I’ve not picked it up then sell it.” She could hear him thinking even from this distance.

  “Why?”

“Luke please, I need to get away and…”

  “And what.”

“I might not be coming back for a long time.”

  “How long?”

  “I don’t know, please I don’t have much time.”

“Have you killed Grace?” he asked, she knew he was serious, he always had an over- active imagination and plus the fact he never liked Grace.

“No not even when I found her in bed with another woman last night.”

  “Wow,”

“Don’t say it like it’s one of your fantasies.” She knew it had crossed his mind

  “Sorry, are you okay.”

She thought for a few minutes, am I okay, she sighed, no I’m better than okay.

“Yes, I just need a break.”

“Okay, if I sell it how much do I get.”

“If you have to sell it you can keep the money.”

“Wow sis you are the best.”

  “Okay I will speak soon.”

“May the force go with you.”

“I’ll miss you, you idiot, speak soon.”

She laughed to herself as she rung off, she would miss him, he was an idiot, but they always looked out for one another. He was five years younger than Leia, and he knew she had given a lot up when she had been forced into starting work. He had heard her crying at night.

“It’s like the first Star wars movie A New Hope.” she laughed.

Not that her or her brother had watched them, it was their father who had been obsessed with them hence when
she had been born on May 4th, he had named her Leia after Princes Leia “May the force.” It had been a standing joke for years. Luke was obviously Luke Skywalker. Why couldn’t she just have a normal family. It would have been a bit more interesting had she had another sibling would her mother had put her foot down, and stopped it being called C3PO, she giggled.

She finished off and went back to the hotel, she didn’t want to be seen if she could help it, she went back to her little room and waited until it nearly quarter past ten, she left the keys at reception saying her brother was picking them up later and she saw Julia, she spoke for a few minutes and went out of the main door and down the driveway. Ten minutes later she saw the taxi making it’s way to her.

Julia shouted and Leia threw her case into the cab and sat next to Julia.

“Well I don’t think I could ever been a spy that’s for sure, all this sneaking about sets me on edge.”

“Relax, we have two bottles of champagne here we might as well start how we mean to go on.”

The both giggled and drunk straight from the bottle, the bubbles going up their noses.

“Did you see your mum and dad?”

“Yes, I had breakfast with them this morning it was good really, I told them I was going on the honeymoon with a friend. They thought it was a good idea.”

“So, we will need to change my name on the tickets when we get to the airport.”

“Yes, I know we will probably have to pay a small amount for it, but I’ll pay for that.”

“You don’t have to, I can pay.”

“If it wasn’t for you, I wouldn’t be here, so no arguing.”

“So, tell me how did you meet your last girlfriend, before you went with Mr no show.”

Julia looked hesitant “I met the first one when I was at college, we were together for six months, the last one I met was at a club.”

“So how long were you together.”

“A month. I have only been with two.” Julia, looked embarrassed, “I know what you are thinking.”

  Leia lifted her eyebrow.

“And what do you think, I’m thinking.”

“You think I’m a spoilt brat who doesn’t know what she wants yet.”

“Why, how old are you Julia?”

“Twenty, but I knew from when I was twelve that I liked women more than I like men.”

“I’m not saying anything, but you say you like women more than men, that doesn’t mean you’re a lesbian, all that means is you are like most of the female population. I love women, I want to be with women, I want to make love to women, men never enter my head. Men are friends at best.”

  “I’m a lesbian and I’ll prove it.”

She grabbed hold of Leia and kissed her,

Leia was taken back by the softness of Julia’s lips, her heart was beating faster

as she leaned in to deepen the kiss, this felt so right. She slowly pulled away.

“God, I don’t think that left any of us in any doubt,” Julia said, a satisfying smile on her lips.

Leia was desperately trying to come back to Earth.

“That doesn’t prove anything.” her voice cracked.

Julia looked at her “I don’t believe you” she shook her head as she turned away a tear was filling her eye.

Leia held her hand “I didn’t say you weren’t a fabulous kisser; I just mean it doesn’t mean you’re a lesbian.”

“A fabulous kisser, hey,” the smile returning to her face.

“Oh God I’ve released a cocky brat now,” she laughed.

  “How old are you Leia?”

  “Twenty- nine, nearly thirty.”

  “When are you thirty?”

  “Don’t laugh, May the fourth.”

  “Why would I laugh.”

Leia groaned, “I’m definitely getting old.”

  “Why?”

“Have you never heard of Star wars.”

  “Yes, but why.”

“In it they say May the force be with you, May the fourth, Princes Leia.”

  “Oh yes that’s good.”

Leia knew when to leave it alone.

The taxi pulled up outside of departures and they made their way to the ticket counter. After paying the money to alter the tickets they went straight through to the departure lounge.

“Do you want another drink,” Leia asked

“No thanks I’ll just have a coffee.”

They both ordered coffees and went and sat down.

“Which gate are we travelling from?”

  “Five.”

  Julia looked nervous.

“Is there something you want to ask me.”

“How many women have you been with?”

“Not enough,” she laughed, when she saw the look on Julia’s face it was so serious, she knew she needed to try and sober up.

“I’m sorry, I don’t think I should have champagne first thing in the morning. I’ve been with seven.”

She could see the shocked look on Julia’s face “I can’t help it I told you I like women.”

“Did you love any of them?” she asked quietly.

“All of them, or I did at the time. I don’t do one- night stands, I only have relationships. Well apart from one, one-night stand. After that I didn’t want anymore.”

Their plane number was called, and they made their way to the departure gate. The airhostess showed them their seats Leia had never thought they would be in

first class she was shocked by the amount of space between the seats, it was impressive. The hostess took their hand luggage off them and placed it in the overhead lockers.

“Here let me help you”, Leia said.

“Well thank you, but I can manage, this is what they pay me for.”

“It doesn’t mean you can’t ask for help occasionally,” she winked at her, and sat down.

Julia stared at her, “are you trying to chat up the hostess” she whispered.

  “No, behave yourself.”

“I am, it’s you I worry about. So, what happened with the one-night stand?”

I hadn’t had sex in a month or maybe two and so I purposely went out to meet someone. I should never have done it, I was her first, she only wanted to make sure that she wanted women. So, it served a purpose, but I felt shit afterwards.”

Julia was astounded, she hadn’t had sex

in ages but she couldn’t just go out with someone just for sex.

The hostess came over to Leia, “do you need any help with your seat belt?”

“Well I might, I had a bit of a late- night last night, I can’t seem to find the other end” Leia laughed.

The hostess slid her hand down the side of the seat and managed to pull the other end from under Leia, she clicked it shut.

  “That’s better.”

“Oh, ignore her, we got married yesterday and she’s still under the influence.”

The hostess stood up and the friendly look vanished, “congratulations.” She quickly moved off to the other passengers.

“What did you tell her that for.”

  “I’m sorry, you were flirting.”

  “And”

“And I felt a bit stupid sitting here.”

“I’m sorry, I didn’t realise I was supposed to be married.”

“Very funny.” Julia looked out of the window. Why had she said all that? She knew why, she wanted someone to want her, not for her money just to love her. Whatever must Leia think of her, she didn’t even like herself at the moment. The tears ran silently down her face. She turned to Leia she was fast asleep. Great, at least when they were at the hotel, they could do their own thing.

  CHAPTER

  FOUR

Sandie had never flown anywhere in her life, yes, she had always had a passport, but she’d never used it. Skylar was in her element, it had been a few years since she’d had a holiday, but she’d hoped she would have plenty more, since her stabbing at work, her solicitor was confident in getting her compensation.

“I can’t believe they all chipped in to send us on honeymoon.”

“I would imagine Jess and Megan had added quite a bit, Cyprus isn’t a cheap place.”

“I know, it was a beautiful day wasn’t it.”

“Perfect, especially the kids, I wanted to burst out laughing when Ruby shouted out.”

Skylar leaned over and kissed her,

“how good are you at swimming?”

  “Okay, why.”

“I believe they have lots of water sports at the hotel.”

  “That should be fun.”

The hotel was what everything you would dream of, it overlooked the sea and had three private beaches. One for water-sports, one for swimming, and one that was rocky, it was amazing. These were patrolled at the perimeter by lifeguards, everyone took the towels with them that were provided by the hotel, so they knew you were allowed on the beach. The room they had was surprisingly large, they had their own private balcony it was stunning.

“Look at those rooms there.” Skylar pointed out to Sandie, “they must be the suites, I saw them advertised, they were very expensive.”

“Never mind babe, this one’s perfect.”

“One day baby, we’ll have something like that.”

“Does it bother you Skylar, that we don’t have lots of money?”

“Not really, my parents were quite well off but since I’d left home at sixteen, I never saw any of the money. I’d just like enough

to be able to treat you to nice things.”

“All I need is you, I feel like I’m richer than anyone in this place because I have all I want in life, someone to love me.”

“And I do babe, I love you.”

  ***

Leia and Julia were bowled over with their suite, it was amazing.

Julia was still upset, the truth be known she had wanted Leia in her bed ever since she’d met her when her and Steven and her mother had started choosing the wedding menu and everything, she’d fantasised about what it would be like. She never dreamed she would get a chance to be with her. Now Leia didn’t seem to want to know her. She was realising this could all be a terrible mistake. It was okay to fancy someone, but you didn’t know what they were like in the cold light of day. Her mind was in a turmoil.
