The Oracle Sphere Page 32

by Travis Pond

Tureis removed the sphere from his pocket. He laid the book on his lap and opened to the first page. As he moved his sphere closer to the page the sphere began to glow a deep blue. He moved the glowing sphere closer to the book and to his amazement words appeared. Above the title to the first chapter in large dark letters it read, “The Oracle Sphere.”

Tureis pulled the sphere away and the words disappeared. When he placed the sphere close to the book again, the title reappeared. Below the title appeared writing as well. Between each line on the page words appeared. Tureis turned the pages and as the light from the sphere touched the book, words appeared between all the lines on the pages.

After turning the pages several times and reading parts of what it contained Tureis stopped and closed the book. “This is talking about the Oracle Sphere,” he said.

“Correct,” said Sepi. “I was trying to help you understand the sphere I gave you. Now that you know about the secrets of this book, the study of the Oracle Sphere will serve as our first lesson.” Sepi stood and left the room, leaving Tureis alone again in the tower.

Tureis studied the book again and then sat back, pondering all the events that had occurred to get him to this point in his life, from finding the cave and the Oracle Sphere, to the day he held Graceblade. The thoughts nearly overwhelmed him. He truly wanted to help people, and if he needed to step up and help finally put an end to King Hamish’s quest for power once and for all, he would do it. As he considered this, even for a moment, he felt the weight of the task. He needed help, he needed more knowledge, he needed a teacher. The idea that Sepi would help him in his search for knowledge and further understanding of the Matya was a good thought. Tureis smiled and sat back into the couch, excited at what the future could become.

  About the Author

Travis is a fun guy who loves life! He spends his days taking care of puppies and kittens as a veterinarian, and at night he enjoys all the craziness of the many activities of his six children. His favorite times are enjoyed when he is building furniture, restoring classic cars or working on any number of other projects with his sons. He particularly enjoys reading books to his children and telling them stories.

It was in college, while taking a creative writing course, he first fell in love with writing and telling stories. Travis grew up acting, and obtained the lead roles in several stage productions, so being on the other side of the script has been a fun experience. While his days are full and his evenings are crazy, it’s after the house is quiet that his writing begins.
