Now ready for her classes, Ariel excitedly bounced down the stairs, and popped next to her mom, who was waiting for her.
“Have a wonderful day Ariel, and be careful when driving.”
“I will be mom, thanks,” and with this, Ariel grabbed her bag, and gave Marie a kiss.
“Your grandmother was very proud of you, and loved you so much; she’s watching over you whenever you are,” Marie said, Ariel smiling in response to this comment. “I know you miss her so much, as I do, but she’s with us wherever we are - never forget that.”
“I won’t,” Ariel said, and opened the door to leave home, beaming at her mom as she exited. After Ariel closed the front door, Marie sighed, and walked over to her mom Marni’s photo, shedding a quiet tear. Marie had a silver candle burner beside her mom’s photograph on the mantelpiece, which she kept lit day and night. As with Ariel, this was Marie’s way of keeping her own mom’s memory alive, as she believed it provided her with much inner harmony.
“Yes Mom, I miss you so much, you’ll always be a part of me - always.”
