by C J M Naylor
Abigail’s story first came to me when I imagined a girl, running to save the man she loved, but for some reason, she couldn’t. And I asked myself: why can’t she save him? What’s stopping her? And from there, I built a story.
The deaths Abigail faced in the first book were always there. They weren’t thrown in last minute for shock value. Bridget was always going to die in book two. And Abigail was always going to meet and fall in love with Thomas Jane. The story was always there. It was just getting it into words that was often the frustrating, yet equally fun, part of the process.
I’d like to thank Andrea Berthot for editing my book as always. Her attention to detail as well as her own experiences with the creative writing process is something I’ve always admired.
Thank you to Alexander von Ness for the amazing cover design as always. You’ve truly translated Abigail’s story, in each of the three books, into a unique visual. I truly appreciate that!
And thank you to my family, friends, and all those that have read Abigail’s story from beginning to end. In the end, the reader matters the most, and I hope I’ve delivered a story that made you think, imagine, and most importantly, served as an escape for you, if only for a little while.
