I Love You More Than I'm Afraid (Our Forevers #2) Page 25

by Rebel Hart

My heart leapt up into my throat as Hannah’s parents looked up in shock. “What?” her dad said.

“I’m gay, and I’m in love. With Arden,” she said.

“We won’t stand for this,” her mother said. “No one living under this roof is going to follow such a sinful lifestyle.”

“I figured that would be the case, which is why I’m moving out,” Hannah replied. “To New York. Where I will live with my girlfriend.”

Both of them stood up from the table, infuriated. “What?”

“Call you later. Bye!” Hannah yelped, then the video got really swirly as Hannah evidently bolted from the house. She charged out into the front yard with her parents screaming after her and ran up to Tristan’s car where she jumped into the back seat. “Go! Go!”

She flashed the camera forward showing Tristan and Aria laughing for their participation in this heist, and then Aria looked right at the camera and waved. “Congrats, Arden!” she said. “I love you! Good luck in New York! Call me when you touch down!”

  And the video ended.

I was so engrossed by the video that I hadn’t noticed Hannah return from the bathroom. “Well?” she said.

I looked up at her, my jaw still dropped in shock. “Is this for real?”

“Yah,” she said. “Aria and Tristan helped me realize that, as afraid as I am of losing my parents, I’m even more afraid of losing you.” She smiled. “I love you more than I’m afraid.”

“I love you,” I said. “I’m never letting you go again.”

She got closer to me, wrapping her arms around my waist. “Good.” She pressed her lips to mine and I couldn’t believe it. It felt like I should be waking up from a dream any time soon, but it wasn’t a dream. She was really there. She’d done the scariest thing in her entire life just to be with me.

  I was so lucky.

“Let’s go get something to eat. I’m starving,” I said.

She nodded. “Yeah. Me too.” I kept her hand held in mine and felt emboldened when she didn’t pull back. “Show me our new apartment.”

“Oh!” I pulled out my phone and navigated to the pictures of the place I was renting and handed my phone to her. “The first couple months of rent are on us until my stipend kicks in from Y.I.I.P., but I’ve got most of it in savings already.”

Hannah’s face screwed into one of horror. “It’s so small and… awful.” She laughed, handing the phone back to me. “Don’t worry. We’ll find something new and better in no time.”

“I’m in no rush,” I responded, pulling her towards me to kiss her on the cheek. “As long as you’re there, it’ll feel like home.”
