Jameson is still asleep, so I go to the bathroom to get myself ready for the day. Today is the day we’re going to see Mickey and Beth, my parents. I called them the day after Jameson said he was down to meet them. They wanted to have us come right away, but I needed a couple of days, and, so, we’re heading out, three days after meeting his parents.
I hear the door open and turn to see Jameson entering the bathroom. He’s shirtless, wearing only a pair of boxers. I avert my eyes because I know exactly what happens when I get all Lookie Lou.
“Good morning,” he mumbles. He kisses my cheek and watches me wash my face. Once I’m done, Jameson wraps his arms around my waist, placing his lips on the crook of my neck. “Are you ready to have me meet your parents?”
“Yeah, they’re really excited to meet you. They were actually surprised that I was seeing anyone.” They were even more surprised that I was dating a football player. My parents were more than aware of my sudden dislike for football – they didn’t really know why – but it was palpable in our household. Family Football Nights became a thing of the past.
“Do you think they’ll like me?”
“Maybe, probably.”
“Do you like me?”
“Maybe,” I sigh.
Jameson turns me around, and I grab on to the edge of the sink to steady myself. He cups both sides of my face and kisses me. It’s deep, our faces pushed together as we take the passion out of one another.
“Do you like when I touch you?”
“Maybe.”
Jameson starts going down my body, and, when he reaches my panties, he pulls them down my legs, taking them completely off. He slides his hands up my legs until he reaches my thighs, wrapping them around the back and pulling me even closer.
He goes straight to eating me out, swirling his tongue all around my pussy. My hands grip the sink as hard as I possibly can. He holds on to my hips, keeping my in my place. My hands dig through his hair. His tongue continues to move through my folds. The tip of his tongue flicks my clit, and I buck against his mouth.
“Jameson,” I sigh.
He hums against my pussy, sending tiny vibrations through my entire body. His fingers join his mouth, three of them pumping in and out of me as his mouth continues to coax my growing orgasm.
“Oh, shit, I’m about to come!” I scream.
His starts to suck on my clit while still using his fingers on me. I’m almost falling to the floor, my arms just barely keeping me upright. My center starts to warm, and, soon, my entire body explodes with tingles. When I start to come down, I almost fall on to the floor, but Jameson stands up and keeps me from becoming a puddle. His mouth comes down on mine, and I taste my juices on his tongue. He breaks our kiss and taps his nose on mine.
“You should finish getting ready, huh?”
I swat at his arm because he’s the one who distracted me in the first place.
Jameson leaves the bathroom, and I finish up. I’m a little nervous about tonight, but we already met his parents, so this shouldn’t be too bad, right? I pick my panties off the floor and throw them in the laundry basket.
Jameson is in the bedroom when I go back there, and the two of us finish getting ready. The drive to my parents’ house is a few hours, so we’ll need to get a move on.
“You ready?” I ask him.
“Yeah, let’s hit the road.
Jameson is starting the drive for us there. I’m going to do the second half since I know the farm area a little better.
“So, tell me about Mickey and Beth. What are they into? How can I impress them?”
“You want to impress them?”
“Yeah, obviously. I need them to like me. It’d be bad if my fiancée’s parents didn’t like me, you know?” He’s talking like we’re actually together, which is a little confusing for me, but I don’t say anything because he’s in such a good mood. And that’s making me happy.
“Well, they like football, so you’ve got that in your corner.”
“They’re big football fans?”
“Yeah, offer them a couple tickets, and I think that they will love you forever.”
“Nice, what else should I know?”
“Um, I grew up on a farm, so my family is farm folk. I’m sure they’ll show you the barn if you ask.”
“Is the barn like super cool or anything?”
“Not really, but people seem to be fascinated by it. Whenever my parents had friends from the city come down, a lot of them would want to check out the barn, see what it’s like.” I guess barns are pretty cool, but, since I grew up with one, it never really mattered to me as much.
“What were you like when you were younger?”
“Oh, I don’t know. I was kind of a loner, I guess. Living on a farm so out of the way, it was hard to make a lot of friends and then have them come over. But we had the animals, and my parents are pretty great. I will admit, I dressed like I had no idea what I was doing. Farm fashion is about comfort and how functional it can be. But it does not transition well.”
“Are there pictures? Are your parents going to bust out the baby book?”
“They might. All I ask is that you don’t laugh too hard. It was a very long awkward phase.”
“I kind of had one of those.”
“No way!” I can’t believe someone like him ever went through an awkward phase. He seems so perfect. His whole family does.
We’re about an hour into our drive, so we’re out of the city and coasting through the country. It’s a really nice part of the state. I always love the drives home.
“Yeah, I did. I know it might be hard for you to believe, but I was a little weirdo sometimes. Before I really got into football basically full-time and knew I was going to be doing it as a career potentially, I was kind of a math nerd.”
“A math nerd?”
“Yeah, I had all the books and t-shirts. Hung up a bunch of M.C. Escher paintings in my room. I actually thought about majoring in math in college, if I went.”
I’m trying to imagine a little Jameson running around with a protractor wearing a math t-shirt.
“Aww, you must have been such a cutie.”
“I’m glad you see it like that. Also, I was actually in the chess club back in high school.”
That piques my interest. He remembers being in the chess club. Does he remember me?
“You were in the chess club?”
He shrugs, keeping his eyes on the road. “I know, I was such a dork. What about you? What was your dorkiest moment?”
It sounds like he still hasn’t put two and two together. It’s not like there’s anything I can do about it. If he doesn’t remember, I can’t make him remember. I’m not even sure I want him to.
“I don’t know if I can define my dorkiest moment. I did once go into explicit detail on how to birth a calf, but I don’t know if that was more redneck.” A lot of the kids in my class found that fact that I lived on a farm to be kind of funny. I was homeschooled until middle school, so just going through puberty while also having to get to know all these people who already were friends, it was a lot.
“You told your entire class how to birth a calf?”
“I mean, it was biology class. I thought it made sense to talk about that kind of stuff.”
“Well, look at us, two little former weirdos,” Jameson jokes.
We keep driving, and Jameson and I keep talking about all types of things. I learn a lot more about him when he was younger, all the kinds of things he liked to do. It’s interesting to hear how he kind of fell into football. It all started with him and his dad tossing a ball in the backyard, and, now, he’s a pro football player. It’s absolutely wild.
He takes us most of the way before pulling off to the side of the road. I was supposed to take over around the halfway mark, but we were so wrapped up in our conversation, we got a little further than expected.
“You ready to take the wheel, baby girl?” He looks over at me and smiles. He’s never used a pet name for me
, and, admittedly, I like it.
“Yeah, let’s go to the farm.”
We switch seats, and I drive us the rest of the way. Pulling into the farm always makes me feel better. Coming home always feels good. I park the car and look over at Jameson. He’s looking out the window, getting a lay of the land.
“So, this is the farm, eh? Where little Jenny Foster grew up.”
“Mmhm,” I reply while unbuckling my seatbelt. I’m feeling all kinds of nervous. We’re about to spend the whole weekend here. I super don’t know why I agreed to that. It was just a simple dinner with his parents, but mine wanted to jump in with both feet. They’ve always been good at convincing me to do a whole host of things.
“Let’s go meet the parents?”
Jameson looks beyond excited to do this. At least he’s feeling good about everything. One of should be.
Chapter Twenty-Two
Jenny
We’re at the door, and I bring my hand up to knock on it. Almost immediately it’s opened, and my mom is standing there, holding her hands out.
“Oh my god! You guys made it!” She brings me into a monster of a hug, squeezing the living daylights out of me.
“Of course we did. We said we were coming.”
“Oh I know, I know,” she says, breaking out embrace. “It’s just not real until it’s real, right?”
“Right.” I step aside, so she can see Jameson. She looks him up and down and then gives her signature smile.
“So, you’re the man who stole my girl’s heart?”
“I guess so,” he shrugs.
“Well come here, you’re family now.” My mom gives him an equally as constricting hug. They break apart, and she motions for us to come inside. “Your dad is out back, grilling up a few steaks. He’s going to be so happy to see you.”
She takes us in and already has cups of lemonade set up. She offers them on a tiny platter, and we both take a glass.
“Let’s go say hi to your dad.” The three of go outside and find Papa Foster by the grill. It looks like he’s almost done.
“Honey guess who’s home,” my mom calls.
My dad turns around, and his whole face brightens. He puts down whatever is in his hands and comes over to me. “Jelly Belly!” He gives me a hug just like my mom’s, but he picks me up a little. “You really need to come home more often,” he tells me.
He puts me down and looks behind me. “Who’s the fella?”
“Um, this is my fiancé, Jameson Kendrick.”
My dad seems to be giving him the once over. “Nice to meet you.” They shake hands, and that seems to be the end of their interaction. I’m not sure what that means, but I think it’s a good thing.
“Let’s let your dad finish up out here. Why don’t you help me set up the table?” I think it’s going to be the three of us going inside, and I motion for Jameson to follow us.
“Why doesn’t Jameson stay out here with me? He can help me finish with these steaks.”
I’m not sure what’s going on. My mom just shrugs, and my dad isn’t giving much away. I look at Jameson.
“You don’t have to,” I say so only he can hear. I’m against his side, up on my tiptoes, so I can whisper into his ear.
“It’s fine, I’d love to help.”
“You’re sure you’ll be okay?”
“I’ll be fine. What’s the worst that could happen?” He kisses the top of my head before he goes over to my dad. There’s nothing I can do. If everyone is okay with this then I can’t be the only one to protest. I follow my mom inside and leave my dad with my former high school crush who is now my fake fiancé. This is going to be a mindfuck.
My mom takes me to the kitchen, and we take dishes out from the cabinet.
“Jameson seems nice,” my mom comments.
“He is.”
“Why did you never tell us about him?”
I twist my mouth around, starting to feel a little guilty. “I don’t know. Everything just kind of happened with us so fast, and I didn’t want you guys to think I was jumping in head first without thinking.”
“Oh, honey, we trust you. I know you wouldn’t do anything crazy. And you two are so sweet together. As long as he treats you right, your dad and I will be happy.”
“He does.” Throughout our entire… whatever this is, Jameson has been nice to me.
“Have you guys chosen a wedding date? Looked at any venues?”
I shake my head. “No, we’re just enjoying our engagement right now. We’re probably figure all that stuff out once the season’s over.” I’ve gotten better at lying. Maybe being around Jameson all the time and having to keep up this charade has made me better at it.
I help my mother set the table, getting all the sides nicely laid out. She sets a pitcher of lemonade in the middle, and, now, it’s just time to wait for my dad to come in with the steaks. I’m tempted to go back outside and see how Jameson is faring. I’m sure my dad won’t do anything too weird or crazy, but this is the first boy I’ve ever brought home. I don’t actually know what’s going to happen.
“I’m sure your fiancé is fine. Your dad’s probably just asking him a couple questions, like I asked you.”
That’s probably all it is, but what if he gives a different answer. We didn’t come up with what to say to specific questions about the wedding and stuff. I got way too into the conversation we were having in the car, it never crossed my mind.
The back door opens, and Jameson and my father walk in laughing. Their both carrying two plates with a steak on each of them.
“So, she’s always had an insane sweet tooth?”
“I once caught her sprinkling sugar on her jelly beans. I don’t know if something exists on this planet sweet enough to satisfy her craving.”
So, they were clearly discussing me out there.
Lovely.
“What are you guys talking about?” I pipe in.
The two of them turn towards me.
“I was just telling Jameson here about that unbeatable sweet tooth of yours. He told me he’s gotten to taste some of your overly sweet treats.”
Warmth creeps up my face. I know that Jameson meant that hot chocolate I made for him, but I can’t help but extract a double entendre form what my dad just said. Jameson sees my embarrassment and smiles at me. He winks, and I almost lose all strength in my legs.
“Why don’t we eat!” My voice is all high-pitched and anxious.
Everyone’s nods, and we all gather around the table. A plate is placed in front of each chair. The steaks look amazing. I haven’t had a home-cooked meal like this in a long while.
We each take a seat, my parents at the head of the table, and Jameson and I across from one another. The food smells so good that forks and knives are immediately picked up and used to pick up some food and shovel it into our mouths. I’m a lot hungrier than I thought, our mini road trip probably ignited my appetite.
“I’m happy my little Jelly Belly still loves my steaks so much!” My dad pats my shoulder, clearly pleased with his cooking.
“Of course! They’re delicious,” I say around a full mouth. I could probably eat a steak like this every day. I’d definitely die prematurely from a heart attack, but it just might be worth it.
“Jelly Belly?” Jameson tilts his head. “Where did that name come from?”
“It’s because that one like to have her belly full of Jelly. She’d get the jar from the fridge and feed herself spoonfuls.”
“We had to actually start hiding them,” my mom adds.
“Ugh!” I really don’t want embarrassing stories from my childhood coming up. “I was weird, we get it. Jameson doesn’t want to hear about all that.”
“Au contraire. Tell me more.”
I roll my eyes, but there’s nothing to do that’ll stop this trip down memory lane. My parents go off, telling Jameson all about me from birth until graduation. He’s engrossed, and I’m just trying to focus on finishing my food before I die of embarrassment.
r /> “You know what? We actually have some pictures.”
I haven’t been listening for most of the night, but this piques my interest. My mom is already getting out of her chair, and this is my cue.
“You know what? I really wanted to give Jameson a tour of the farm tonight. I should before it gets too dark. Come on.” I’m out of my seat, motioning for him to follow me out. “We’ll help clean up later.”
I don’t wait for anyone to say anything. Grabbing on to Jameson’s arm, I drag him outside. My lungs are released from their vice of tension, and I take a deep breath.
“Sorry, I just grabbed you. I needed a bit of a break.”
“So, does that mean I don’t get a tour of the farm?” He gives me a sad pouty face.
“No, I can give you one. Let’s go.” I wasn’t sure if he actually wanted one, but I’m not opposed to it. It has been a while since I’ve given a tour, though. Hopefully, I’m not too rusty. “I guess we can start with the pigs.”
I take Jameson all over the farm, showing him all the major hot spots. Giving him the tour makes me feel a little nostalgic. Living on this farm as a child brought me a lot of happy times.
“Well, this is where the tour ends, the barn.” I do a bit of a flourish with my hands. Jameson places his hands on the door handles.
“May I?”
“Yeah, go ahead.” He opens up the barn, the doors swinging wide. I help him put a stopper on the doors. He walks forward first, hesitantly. I let him explore a little bit on his own.
“Jenny! Come in here!”
I finally step inside and find Jameson hanging out by a large pile of hay.
“Fancy a role in the hay?” he wiggles his brow. I let out a chuckle, amused with his pun.
“You are ridiculous. Do you know that?”
“Maybe I am ridiculous, but the question still stands,” he takes a few steps closer to me, “do you want to take a roll in that hay over there?” He motions with his head behind him. We’re toe to toe now. His hands come up and wrap around my waist, pulling me much closer so our pelvises are touching.
