Hunter sucked on his neck, kissed down his chest until he reached his nipples. He played with them, licking and flicking them with his tongue. When he bit one, Carter cried out, his body bowing with pleasure. They were hard and red by the time he finished, and Hunter blew across them, causing Carter to shiver.
He moved further down, kneeling at Carter’s feet and licked down Carter’s hard shaft. Carter moaned, and then cried out again when Hunter sucked the wet, spongy head into his mouth. Hunter’s fingers moved between Carter’s ass cheeks and rubbed across his hole. Carter was desperate to feel Hunter push in. He needed to be fucked hard and deep. He needed to feel Hunter long after they’d gone their separate ways.
Hunter stood and spun him around, so Carter was now facing the wall. He squatted behind him and spread his ass cheeks wide. Carter keened, a high, whiny sound, when he felt Hunter’s tongue swipe across his hole. Hunter wasn’t going for slow and Carter was more than happy with that.
Hunter pushed his tongue in, fucking him with it, before he began stretching him with a finger, steadily preparing him. One finger became two, and then Hunter stood, and Carter pushed out, waiting for Hunter’s dick. When he finally began to push his dick into Carter, he arched back, pushing his ass out even more, and groaned loudly.
The burn was there but above it all was the pleasure Carter had been dying for. He braced his hands again the cabin wall and pushed back further as Hunter pushed in, needing to increase the connection.
Carter...
“Yes. Fuck me, Hunter.”
Hunter did just that, setting a hard and fast pace from the start. Carter braced himself, each thrust pushing him towards the wall. Hunter’s teeth scraped along Carter’s sensitive skin and he looked over his shoulder at his mate and lifted his hand to touch his cheek.
Their eyes met and held, and Carter felt everything. Hunter opened himself completely, and he gasped at the intensity of the emotions coming from his mate. Hunter loved him.
Eyes widening, Carter whispered, “Hunter.”
“Always.”
They kissed sloppily, Carter putting as much emotion behind the kiss as he could. He wasn’t sure what he felt for Hunter. So much was happening, and he was caught up in it all, being dragged along by the tide. At times he was overwhelmed by it all, like he was thrashing around in the waves, trying to keep his head above water, but Hunter was there for him, keeping him afloat. His wonderful, caring, and supportive mate.
“I love you, Carter. Now and always.”
Carter cried out, his body taking over as he came, untouched, his orgasm rushing through him. He screwed his eyes shut and cried out again when Hunter bit him, his body shuddering and jerking. Hunter’s hands tightened on him, holding them together as his dick continued to hammer Carter.
Carter’s head dropped onto the cabin wall in front of him and he shivered when Hunter’s fangs pulled free. Hunter groaned behind him, his body slamming into his before freezing in place.
Carter panted, his body cooling in the evening air, and Hunter tugged him closer, nuzzling his neck. Carter twisted his head, his lips seeking Hunter’s, and they kissed lazily as their bodies cooled down.
“Hello,” Carter mumbled, a small smile on his face.
“Hi,” Hunter returned, grinning at him.
Carter shivered in the cool air and Hunter stepped back, then spun him around and picked him up. Laughing, Carter threw his arms around Hunter’s neck.
“I can walk.”
“I know, but I like taking care of you.”
“Bath?” Carter asked, leaning closer to kiss Hunter.
Hunter chuckled. “Naked, in warm soapy water with you? Absolutely.”
Chapter Eleven
“I wish I could stay longer,” Carter mumbled.
“Me too.”
Hunter’s hands stroked lazily up and down his chest as the warm water lapped around them. A bath with his mate was exactly what he needed, and for the first time in days, he was able to relax and let the stress ebb away. He knew at some point he would have to leave once again and go back to the hellhole he lived in, but for now he could simply be here, with his mate.
“I have more data for you.”
“Do we have long enough to stay in here a little longer, or should we get out?”
Carter closed his eyes and sighed deeply. “Five more minutes?”
“Yeah, we can do that.” Hunter kissed his cheek and Carter smiled up at him.
Their five minutes passed too quickly as far as Carter was concerned. Once they were dry and dressed, Carter grabbed his bag and took out his laptop and the important memory card.
“Here, I think you’ll find this important.”
He waited as the laptop booted up and watched the expression on Hunter’s face change from curiosity to incredulous.
“Are these figures accurate?”
“Yeah, I triple checked them to be sure.”
“But if these are correct, then they have over a thousand blood slaves.”
“Yeah.” Carter sighed. Too many humans were being used as blood slaves, suffering untold abuse at vampire hands. It was way worse than they thought.
“We need to get them all out before anything happens. We can’t risk their safety.”
“They’re hardly safe now, are they? We’ve got to move quickly and get them out.”
Hunter sighed and nodded. “I know, and I completely agree, but whatever we do needs to be coordinated or we risk failure. All locations have to be hit at the same time, otherwise, one location could tip the other off and the slaves will be moved.”
Carter slumped back in his chair and nodded. “I know. I just hate the thought of what they’re going through. They must be suffering so much.”
“Let me take all of this back to the others. Are all the locations listed?”
“Yes, and all the council members are involved.”
Hunter rubbed the back of his neck, sighing again. “Shit. Alessio won’t be happy. He was hoping it was only a couple of members.”
“Me too, and there’s something going on with Spencer. I’m getting worried about him.”
“I’ve spoken to Romeo, his mate, and he’s trying to find a way to get him out, but apparently Spencer’s refusing. He wants to do as much as he can to disrupt things.”
“Let’s hope they haven’t found out about him.” Standing up, Carter stretched, grinning at the ache he could feel in his body. “I’ve got to go. I only had a couple of hours. With things the way they are, I don’t want them looking too closely at me.”
Hunter stood and pulled Carter close, nuzzling his neck. “I’m gonna miss you.” Pulling back, he stared into Carter’s eyes. “Watch your back at all times.”
Nodding, Carter said, “I’m careful. I need to be. I’ll miss you too.”
“Love you,” Hunter muttered before kissing Carter.
Carter moaned and ran his hands over Hunter’s shoulders and into his hair. Their tongues danced, and all too soon, the kiss ended. Carter closed his eyes and rested his forehead on Hunter’s.
“I’ll be careful. I have you to come home to after all.”
They didn’t say much else, and ten minutes later, Carter was leaving the cabin and Hunter behind.

As soon as he entered the building, he could feel the tension in the air. Something had happened. Walking as quickly as he could, he made it to the IT room and checked security, making sure nothing had occurred. All checked out fine, but the hairs stood up on the back of his neck. Something was wrong.
The door burst opened, and he swung around, his heart hammering in his chest. Garrick pushed past him and paced the length of the room.
“You’re going to need to do more around here. There’s been a change in structure. I need you to liaise with construction and find out how far behind schedule they are. Warn them about the repercussions if they fail to meet their deadline. After that, speak to storage. I need exact figures on our food storage and what el
se we need. The only thing that’s on schedule is our weapons acquisition. We have virtually everything we need.” Garrick stopped pacing and pointed at Carter. “Oh, also speak to Solar Red over current production. All houses need to be fitted with enough panels to sustain all energy requirements.”
“Isn’t this Spencer’s job?” Carter asked, a frown developing. Spencer dealt with all of this. How, Carter didn’t know, but hearing the list of jobs Garrick wanted him to do was enough to cause a headache.
“Spencer’s been... relocated.” Garrick grinned and turned to walk away. Over his shoulder, he added, “I want that information within the hour, Carter. Don’t let me down.”
Carter swallowed. “Yes, sir.”
When the door closed, he immediately searched all the cameras, searching for Spencer. The entire place was covered so he should have appeared on one of them, but there was nothing.
His search would have to wait. As quickly as he could, Carter managed to get all the information for Garrick and emailed it over. His fingers trembled on the keyboard and he heaved a sigh of relief when he pressed send. Now he could continue his hunt for Spencer.
Another hour, and still nothing. He would need to do a physical search.
Leaving his room with a tablet in hand so it looked work-related, he made his way over to Spencer’s suite. When he got there, he lifted his hand to knock on the door when he noticed the damage to it and that the door was open.
He pushed it a little and gasped in surprise, his eyes widening at the scene of devastation in his room. The living room was virtually destroyed and the glimpse into the bedroom revealed the room to be in a similar condition.
Not wanting to chance discovery, he backed out of the room and went back to IT. He needed to search the recordings for earlier today.
Another four hours passed until he found what he was looking for. Spencer’s door being kicked in by Garrick, a team of males behind him. Several minutes later, a bloody Spencer was dragged out and along the corridor. Noting the time stamp, Carter checked the recordings and watched where they took Spencer. The basement.
Shit, he was in the basement. Only bad things happened there.

“There’s so many of them,” Jacques whispered, the fear evident in his voice.
“Over a thousand? How sure can we be of this information?” Ale asked, his eyes meeting Hunter’s.
“Carter triple checked it. He was as amazed as us, but thinking about it, they would need a large number to feed the vampires. I think they’ll be adding to it if we don’t put a stop to it.” Hunter grimaced. “Possibly another thousand, maybe more than that.”
“Shit,” Ale muttered, his hand stroking up and down Troy’s back. “Alessio’s gonna be pissed about this.”
“No shit.” Jared looked over his shoulder at Sacha who was on his cell to Alessio. He shook his head and looked at everyone around the table. “Alessio’s on his way here. He wants to see the evidence himself. I don’t think it’s a case that he doesn’t believe us...”
“He knows them,” Chester finished for him. “He’s known some of those members for years.”
“Exactly.”
“Sorry, I’m late,” Romeo said as he entered the room. “Traffic’s shit.”
“Have you heard from Spencer?” Hunter asked.
“Yesterday. He seems to think something’s happening and wanted to investigate further.”
“As long as he’s safe.”
“It helps that he knows he’s not on his own.” Romeo dropped his briefcase on the floor and accepted the beer Silas gave him. “So, what do we have?”
“Blood slave numbers,” Ale muttered.
Romeo gasped when he saw the information and went over to his briefcase. Opening it, he took out some paperwork and passed it to Silas. “They are now sole owners of Solar Red and are making sure all locations are fitted.”
“Blood slaves, energy. What about food?” Chester asked. “We also need to plan our mission for Carter’s parents. We need to have them out before we can make our move on any of these locations.”
“And we’d need to hit them all at the same time. There’s ten of us, more if we include Silas’ men. Nowhere near enough.” Hunter ran his hand through his hair. “This is far bigger than I think we ever imagined.”
“Don’t worry about numbers,” Euan told them.
“Why?”
“I have some friends who will help. I’ve told them about what’s happening, and they’ve agreed to help us out when we need them.”
“Who?” Chester asked, leaning forward. “Who are they?”
“They’re... different. I’ve known them for years.” Euan smiled. “They’ll help.”
“We can’t just accept your word,” Hunter said, his eyes flashing red. “My mate is in there.”
“When the time comes, they’ll help us, and it will become obvious why they’ve stayed away. Trust me on this, Hunter. When we free the blood slaves, we’ll have enough people.”
“Okay, Euan. Keep us in the loop with whoever these people are.” Chester glanced at everyone around the table. “Let’s plan on getting Carter’s family free, then Carter. What about Spencer, Romeo? Will he pull out as well?”
Romeo shook his head. “No, he can’t.”
“How did he get involved in this?”
Romeo sighed. “Spencer Lagina,” he muttered.
“Shit! Council member Lagina’s son?” Silas stared at him, his mouth falling open. “No wonder he’s in deep.”
“And he wants out, but he’s stuck.”
“Shit,” Silas said again. “What can we do to help?”
“Not much.” Romeo shrugged. “When he’s ready, he’ll find a way out.”
“You haven’t mated yet, have you?” Hunter asked.
“No, we haven’t. It’s much harder for him to leave than it is for Carter. It would hurt us both. It was too great a risk for us to mate.”
“You wish you had though,” Silas said.
“Yeah, it would be easier to stay in contact, but we just can’t.” Romeo straightened and said, “Let’s get Carter’s family free first and then we can work on the rest.”
Chapter Twelve
Carter quickly scanned the corridor and jogged as quickly as he could over to the door that led to the basement. He stepped inside and closed it quietly behind him, breathing harshly, his heart pounding in his chest and sweat breaking out over his skin. If he got caught, he would end up exactly like Spencer.
He stared at the stairway in front of him and slowly descended, taking each step slowly to minimize sound. His hand slid along the rail, the cold metal almost piercing his hot and clammy skin. His breathing was ragged, and he tried desperately to control it. The last thing he needed was any vampires to hear him coming because he was breathing so loudly.
He reached the bottom of the stairway and quickly glanced around the corner, his back against the wall. In that split-second look, he’d seen that the coast was clear, and he squeezed his eyes shut, trying to find the courage to step out.
He opened his eyes and stared at the wall in front of him, taking a deep breath in, he stepped out and turned towards the room that led off the long corridor in front of him.
The lighting was minimal, and Carter spread his arms, so his fingers trailed the walls on either side, making sure he was in the center of the corridor. He squinted to try to see further ahead, but the lighting was so poor, he was unable to. He had to rely on his other senses. He stopped every few steps, tilting his head and concentrating on the surrounding sounds, but there was nothing but silence. Maybe he was wrong, and Spencer wasn’t here. Maybe they had moved him, and he hadn’t noticed.
He carried on and when he reached the first door on his right, he quickly glanced in the small window in the door and saw the room was empty. Another door stood opposite, and he spun around and quickly looked into that room, but again, it was empty.
He continued along the corridor, checking each se
t of doors, finding each room empty.
Eventually he reached the last two doors in the long corridor and checked the room on the right, again finding it empty. His shoulders slumped, and he ran a hand through his hair, gripping the back of his neck.
“Shit,” he whispered.
He turned to face the last door on the left and glanced inside before spinning and slamming up against the wall at the side of the door.
His heart rate spiked, and fresh sweat bloomed over his skin. What he’d seen in that room scared him.
He bit his lip, closed his eyes, and breathed deeply for a minute or two. Once he felt like he had some control, he quickly turned and looked through the window again and stared at the person in front of him.
It was Spencer, naked and badly beaten. Tied to a chair in the center of the room.
Cutting a glance down the corridor, he slowly reached for the handle to the door and gripped it, taking another deep breath, and twisted the knob on the door, which surprisingly opened. He stepped inside quickly and closed the door behind him and stared at the crumpled figure that was Spencer.
He didn’t react to Carter entering the room. For a second, he wondered if Spencer was dead, but quickly noticed the slow rise and fall of his chest. He rushed over to him and knelt by his prone figure and reached out a shaky hand to touch the side of his neck, feeling for a pulse. It was there, but to Carter’s inexperienced hand, it felt weak and thready.
Looking over Spencer, he noticed how pale his skin was, the darkness under his eyes, and how his bones stood out sharply. Along his neck and wrist, even his thighs, he could see various bite marks, in various stages of healing. His lips were split and puffy, his nose broken, and his eyes swollen shot.
Cuts, bruises, and contusions covered his skin, and Carter winced at the depth of some of them. It would take a long time to heal from these wounds.
“Spencer,” he whispered.
He was surprised when Spencer’s chest rose and his eyes flickered open. They stared at each other for a few tense seconds before Spencer muttered, “Leave.”
