From the journal of William X.

“All misfortune is human misfortune, never influenced by some divine being. What other explanation can one give to rationalize the millions of persons around the world that emerge from car crashes, burning buildings, earthquakes, tsunamis and hurricanes with such paltry injuries as paralysis, third degree burns, broken bones, and mental scars and trauma. These people will fall on their knees and lift their tearful faces to the sky (if they are able) and scream to the heavens ‘Thank God! Thank God!’

“Obviously God has redeemed these sinful, backsliding souls who are so patently deserving of this stern punishment.

“But who put the torch to their homes, or allowed the rain storm that loosened the gravel in the curve of the road, or cracked the earth open like a hungry mouth with granite teeth to feed on the luckless sinners?”
