by Lesley Jones

That was when I heard her voice. “Well, well, if it ain’t, Maca’s spoilt little princess. Isn’t it past your bedtime? Shouldn’t you be at home and tucked up in bed with your teddy?”

Haley, what the fuck is she doing here?

I turned around and realised that it was her nipple Rocco was latched onto as he came through the door. I looked her up and down as she stood next to him. He had his arm slung over her shoulder.

“Oh, it’s way past my bedtime, but don’t you worry that little brain of yours. Maca will be back soon, and then, we will be off to get tucked up in bed together and the only teddy that’ll be involved is the one Sean will be ripping off my body,” I smiled sweetly at her, “with his teeth,” I added.

She glared at me for a few seconds and then turned to Rocco. “You know they’re not eighteen yet? They shouldn’t be drinking.”

“Yeah, I heard they were jailbait. This is a private party, though, don’t think the law counts here otherwise most of us would be arrested for one reason or another. Now, get me a beer, and then get back here and blow me. I need to come in that dirty, dirty mouth of yours.”

Jim nudged me and said loud enough for Rocco to hear. “Some things never change. Haley the whore still on her knees and blowing her way backstage.” She held her glass up to mine, we clinked them together, said, “Cheers,” in unison, and both started to laugh.

“Fuck off you pair of sluts. You’re just jealous, Jimmie. Your boyfriend’s just a hanger-on, not even a rock star.” She turned her beady eyes towards me, “And yours? Yours will never be in the same league as my Rocco.”

“Oh, I’m sorry, Whorely. Rocco’s your boyfriend now, is he?” I turned to look at Rocco. “Bet you can’t wait to take her home to meet ya Mamma. You do know that she’s fucked and blown her way through most of the male population of England? She makes Anna look like a nun and has twice as many diseases.”

There were a few nervous laughs from the ‘hangers-on’. Rocco looked at me with a sneer on his face.

“Well, it’s a good job I like my women dirty like her and not stuck up little cock teasers like you.” He licked up the side of Haley the whore’s face.

Yuck, he is such a pig.

  “Want some?” he asked me.

“Not if my life depended on it,” I replied.

He looked me up and down before moving away to sit on a leather sofa. “Get me a beer, Whorely, and then get back here and get on your knees.”

Like the idiot that she was, Whorely did what she was told, wearing a look of nothing but pride on her face. At that moment, I actually felt a little bit sorry for her, the poor deluded girl. I noticed Rocco was staring at me. Despite the fact that he scared the crap out of me, I tilted my chin and defiantly stared right back at him.

“You’re just a bit too big for your boots, little girl, but I’ll show you… I’ll show you who’s fucking king around here,” he sneered at me.

I shook my head and looked towards the door as Marley came walking through. Billy was behind him and as the door was held open, I noticed Sean and Lennon outside. It looked like they were arguing. I started to head towards them, but Marley wrapped me in his arms and gave me a big cuddle.

“Baby sister, I’ve missed you. I can’t wait to get back to England, you smell like home.”

He gave me a kiss on the cheek. This was my big brother. This was the Marley that I’d idolised since possibly the day I was born. He didn’t look as spaced out and he didn’t seem as speedy.

“I’ve missed you too, Marls. I can’t wait to have you all back.”

Sean’s arms slid around my waist from behind and he kissed the top of my head. “Let’s get the fuck out of here, babe.”

I turned around and looked at him as he spoke. “What’s wrong, you okay?”

He nodded, but I could see that he was pissed off.

I turned out of Marley’s arms and wrapped my arms around Sean’s neck. “I’m ready to go whenever you are. How are we getting to the hotel?”

“There’ll be cars waiting outside the exit. The drivers just hang around until everyone leaves and drops us wherever we want to go, the label supplies.”

  “Well, let’s go then.”

Sean shook hands with all the boys from his and the other bands. I kissed my brothers and Jimmie, and we headed off, but not before I noticed Rocco glaring at me while he was getting a blow job from Haley the whore.

There was champagne on ice when we got back to our room and rose petals all over the bed. A bath had been run and was full of bubbles. We stripped naked and jumped straight in, with glasses of champagne in hand. Because the taps were in the middle of the huge bath, we were able to sit at opposite ends. We remained silent for a while, just watching each other and sipping from our glasses. Sean gave me his lazy lopsided grin as his chocolate eyes roamed over my body.

“What are you thinking?” I asked him.

“I’m thinking that I wanted to undress you slowly and look at you in all that sexy underwear. But I’m glad that you’re here, naked, in this bath with me. I’ve missed you so much, Gia. I can’t wait to get back to England. Is your dad going to be okay with you touring with us over there?”

I smiled at him. Despite how long we’d known each other, I still blushed when he said anything sexual to me. I knew we had been doing it for a long time, but I still really didn’t know a lot. Only what he had taught me, and I loved that I was enough for him. He had all these women throwing themselves at him, but it was me he wanted, me he missed, and me he couldn’t wait to get back to England to be with.

“I think my dad will be fine. He let me come here, so I’m sure Manchester or Liverpool won’t be a problem. I’ll be the perfect daughter for the next couple of weeks. You know my dad, I can usually get my way, especially as I have Mum on my side too.”

He bit down on the left hand corner of his bottom lip. “Come up here,” he ordered. Fuck, his voice was all sexy and his eyes were partially closed. I loved the feeling I got in the bottom of my belly when he looked at me like that. I walked on my knees towards him and knelt between his open legs.

“You know that thing that we talked about? That you said we could try… That you said you would try for me?”

I blushed the colour of a tomato and nodded my head.

“Well, I was thinking that seeing as I haven’t seen you, and you’ll be going on Monday and I won’t see you again for another coupla weeks. And seeing as I’m here and I’m all nice and clean.”

  “Yes.”

  “Yes?”

“I promised you a blow job when I got here. Pour me some more champagne, and you’ll get your blow job.” I sounded confident but I was so not. We had talked about this, but I’d never been brave enough to do it. I didn’t know why, but to me, it just seemed so much more intimate than sex. Sean had kissed me down there lots of times. He seemed to love it, and I most definitely did, but I’d never been brave enough to return the favour. Before I left England, I’d already decided that tonight was going to be the night. And with the wine we’d had at dinner, the vodka backstage, and now the champagne, I was feeling like I could suck for England.

Or, do I blow? Shit, I actually had no idea what I was supposed to do.

“What’s the matter, G? What are ya thinking?”

“Can we get out of here? I’ll drown if I try to do it in the bath.”

Sean laughed and knelt up to meet me. He put his hand to the nape of my neck and pulled me in for a kiss. “I love you, Georgia Rae Layton. I love you, so fuckin’ much. I can’t wait for you to finish school, so we can be together all the time. So, we can go to bed and wake up together every night and day. So you can come with me, wherever I go in the world. I want you with me, G, by my side, always.” He kissed me gently on the mouth while I swallowed back my tears. He broke our kiss and looked down at me. “Now, get your sexy arse out this bath and give me a blow job.”

“Charming,” I replied as I shook my head at him.

  We s
pent the rest of Friday night and most of Saturday morning, with me practising my blow job technique. After Sean could barely contain his laughter at my first attempt, I learnt that despite its name, it had nothing to do with blowing whatsoever. I thought I would forever glow crimson when I thought of the moment I held his dick in front of my mouth and just blew on it like you would a hot cup of tea.

If only it were that easy!

  Chapter Seven

The boys were busy Saturday afternoon with interviews and stuff, so Sean gave me his bank card and sent me shopping with Jimmie.

  Silly boy!

By the time we got back to the hotel, we were loaded with bags containing shoes, bags, perfume, and a few bits for Sean and Lennon, it was almost six and the boys were back. Sean was sitting on the end of the bed, elbows on his knees, with his hands clasped together. He looked up at me wearing a frown when I came through the door. My first thought was that he was pissed off with the amount of money I’d spent when he took in all of the bags from the designer shops, but he did tell me to spend what I liked.

“All right, babe, did you have a good time?” He smiled up at me, but it didn’t reach his eyes.

“It was great. You should see all of the designer label shops they have here. My mum would just love it. I got you some T-shirts, I spent about five hundred quid. Is that all right?”

I raked my teeth over my bottom lip while I waited for his answer. “Yeah, that’s fine. I told you to spend whatever you wanted.”

“Yeah, I know, but I didn’t wanna go too mad. What’s wrong?”

  “What? Nothing.”

  “Don’t lie, what’s up?”

He looked up at me through his thick, brown lashes, and my stomach did a little somersault as my heart picked up speed. He looked sad, and I was sure I wasn’t going to like whatever it was he had to say.

  “Come and sit down, G.”

I dropped the bags and sat next to him on the bed. “Sean, you’re scaring me. What’s wrong?”

He took my left hand in both of his. “Babe, the blokes from the record label that were at the gig last night,” he paused and let out a deep breath. “They didn’t like me telling the crowd I’m off the market. They want us,” he paused again, “they want girls to like us, so they want us all to keep quiet about our girlfriends, and they don’t want me talking about you on stage or dedicating songs to you. I mean, I can sing them, and I can say, ‘This song is for Georgia,’ or whatever, I just can’t say this song is for my girlfriend. Well, I can but they would rather I didn’t.”

  Well, that’s no big deal.

“Okay, well, that’s fine. I don’t expect you to dedicate songs to me every show I attend, and if you just want to say, ‘This song is for G.’ I’ll know what you mean. It doesn’t matter, honestly.”

His eyes met mine, and I knew there was more.

  “What else?”

Another big sigh. “They don’t want you in the hospitality room before the show when the press and the fans are all in there.”

“Why? The groupies are all in there, why can’t I be?” I remembered the suit from last night who’d been talking to Lennon and looking in my direction. I bet that was what they were talking about, and I bet that was what Sean and Len were arguing about after the show.

“I know, I know, G. And I told them that you’d flown all this way to see me, so there’s no way that you’re not coming backstage, but he still said no. Backstage is now officially for wives, fiancés, and family members only.” He turned his head towards me. His brown eyes with their tiny flecks of amber and gold looked deep into mine. It felt like they looked right through me and into me, my heart, and my soul.

My chest hurt with what I saw in them. He looked—I wasn’t really sure how he looked. I couldn’t tell if he was happy, sad, scared. It was a combination of all of those things, and I began to panic.

“What is it, Sean? What? Tell me?”

He slid off the bed and knelt in front of me. Oh, God, what had he done? Was he about to beg me for forgiveness for something?

“I went to the shops, too. While you were out, G.”

“Did you?” My words came out in a whisper because I could barely breathe. I was so scared of what he was about to tell me. Then from beside him on the bed he lifted a box and opened it.

  Fucking hell!

  I wanted my mum.

“I was going to wait, ask your dad properly, and do this once we were back in England, but I’m not having you barred from the hospitality room before the show. We always knew we would do this, it’s just a bit sooner.”

  I wanted my dad.

  I wanted to cry.

“Georgia Rae Layton, I’ve loved you since the very first day I set eyes on you and your pink polka dot knickers. You are my world. I know we’re young, but I love you, Gia. I want to make beautiful babies with you. I know people are going to be against this, but they don’t know what we know, and they don’t feel what we feel. I want to grow old with you, G, and I want to marry you. Please, would you do me the honour of becoming my wife?”

  It’s a ring.

It’s a big, fat, diamond ring.

He’s been shopping, and he bought it.

  A ring.

  For me!

  He wants to marry me!

I wiped a tear from my cheek that I didn’t realise had escaped, and I looked from the ring to his eyes and nodded.

My parents were going to kill me.

Then, my brothers would probably kill me too.

And then they would kill Sean.

Shit, my dad and my brothers.

  Will. Kill. Sean.

  “Georgia?”

  “Hmm?”

  “I’m shitting myself here, G.”

“Yes, yes, yes, of course, yes. Yes, I’ll marry you. Yes!”

I wiped more tears from my face as he slid the solitaire diamond ring along my shaking finger. It fit perfectly. I looked down at my hand.

  “Do you like it?”

“I love it. Is it white gold?”

“No, it’s platinum with two carats of diamond.”

“Two carats? Sean, it must have cost a fortune.”

“It fuckin’ did!” He laughed, and I don’t know why he laughed, but I laughed along with him. He brushed my tears from my cheeks with the back of his hand and pulled me down onto his lap so I was straddling him and then he kissed me gently on the mouth. “But I love ya, G. So it was worth it. Especially now you’ve become so good at BJ’s. We have about fifty minutes before we leave for the venue, any chance of a quick shag?”

“I reckon two carats of diamond has got to be worth a quick something.”

We had the quickest, quickie ever. Showered, changed, and made it downstairs to the bar only ten minutes late. The rest of the boys were waiting and moaning about us being late. We had decided not to tell anyone other than the rep from the record label about our engagement. Sean wanted to get back to England and speak to my dad before telling my brothers or anyone else, and I was okay with that. I was more than okay, because I was crapping myself over what my brothers were going to say. So the longer we could keep our news secret, the better it was as far as I was concerned.

  Chapter Eight

The record label rep wasn’t impressed with Sean’s news and asked if it could be kept quiet until after the album launch, which suited us fine. In turn, he agreed to keep it quiet from the rest of the band and allowed me back into the hospitality room before and after any shows.

The rest of our time in Spain went far too quickly, and all too soon, we were back at the airport. The bands were leaving for Germany that afternoon, and Sean had promised to call me that night to let me know they’d arrived safely. We kissed, I cried, and eventually, Jimmie and Lennon dragged us apart so we could board our flight. I desperately wanted to meet up with him in France the next weekend, but we had our English O level exam on Monday morning, so I knew there wasn’t a chance my mum and dad were going to say yes, but I would try. If not, i
t would only be one more week before the boys would be home for two whole weeks. Then they would start the UK tour and the album would launch. And in between all of that, we would announce our engagement.

  Engaged!

I was sixteen, about to leave school, and I was engaged to be married to Sean McCarthy, the only boy I had ever and would ever love.

By the time I got home Monday, I was exhausted. I chatted with my parents at the dinner table. I didn’t really want to eat, but my mum had gone to a lot of trouble and cooked salmon, my favourite, so I made an effort. Eventually, I made my excuses and went up for a shower. I washed as quickly as possible in case Sean rang, and I missed it. I threw on my jarmies and lay on top of my bed with my music playing down low so I could hear the phone.

We were lucky in our house, we had four phones, but none of them were in my bedroom. The nearest was on the landing—a whole five steps away. I kept my bedroom door open and tried to do the same with my eyes. But I must have lost the battle, because the next thing I remembered was waking up to bright sunlight, a blanket over me, and my bedroom door closed. I turned and looked at my clock radio. It was six thirty-eight in the morning. I jumped up and ran downstairs. My parents were both sitting out on the patio drinking coffee.

“Morning, Princess,” my dad said, looking up from his paper. He folded it and held his arms open for me to go and sit on his lap. It was a routine we’d followed my entire life, but because I was getting up so much later these days, I rarely ever saw him. I wrapped my arms around his neck.
