Escape from the Nether Page 7

by Winter Morgan

Brett began to dig a hole to create a second irrigation system. As he dug deep into the soil, he felt a rush of cold air and jumped back.

  “Is everything okay?” asked Joe.

“I hope so,” he replied. “I felt a burst of cold air when I was digging, and I was afraid it was another portal.”

Joe looked down at the hole Brett had dug and said, “Let’s just leave that area alone. I’m not ready to travel back or forward in time at the moment.”

Joe placed a layer of dirt over the hole and dug another one far away from it. He placed the irrigation system, and was ready to put the seeds down. The sun was setting, and they had to finish up their work for the day. As they looked at the setting sun, they both smiled.

“It’s good to have everything back to normal,” said Joe.

  “I agree,” said Brett.

The duo walked back to the house Joe was staying at in Verdant Valley, chatting about the work they would do the following day.

“I think we should put potatoes down,” said Brett.

“I think we should place lots of wheat,” said Joe.

As they planned their farm, the sun set on another day in the Overworld.
