  40. From the Outside

He stood outside the window watching as they feast

She stood outside the door pondering her fate

They stood outside society judging from afar

We stood outside the gates waiting to be let in

I stand outside reality admiring as it falsely unfolds

  41. The Future

  What does the future hold?

A warmth from the chilling cold?

A desire that has finally been fulfilled?

A prospect for the truly skilled?

Unknown to all, especially those who claim

Who beat themselves, but only have themselves to blame

A mysterious adventure, cruel and daunting

With exciting paths, wild and haunting

Such is the future as I see

But don't take my word, it's only me

Twists and turns are what I expect

I wish it weren't the case, but nothing's perfect

Words to be written, such a cliché

The future is not a novel, but a game to play

  42. Glimmering Tears

  The magic was lost

Tears glimmered in her sad eyes

  How did this happen?

  The fire consumed all

  Destroying her home and life

  Oh! To turn back time

  Once a joyous home

  Turned to ashes and rubble

  Her beloved gone

  43. Hard and Soft

  Curious object

  The hardest, except when soft

  Always intriguing

  Irreplaceable

To be handled with great care

  Treasured by owners

  Brings smiles to many

  And excruciating pain

  If ever damaged

  A source of envy

  A symbol of lasting pride

  Yet rather fragile

  A lost mystery

Solved with the stoke of a hand

  Always fulfilling

  44. Haunted

  Haunted by a distant past

  A vicious relentless evil

  A daunting curse once cast

  Spewing venom and causing peril

In fertile ground the curse grows

  Feeding on its unsuspecting host

Spreading its poisonous vines as far as can go

Until it strangles its victim and they are no more

  45. Heavy Weight

  The heaviest weight

  Crushes what lies beneath it

  And is unaware

  May be remorseless

But it is not without heart

  Still ambivalent

  46. Hunting Lions

  Lions are hunting

In search of a weakling prey

  It hides from the brute

  Trying to outsmart

  A hungry and ruthless beast

  Crucial survival

  47. Hurting Love

  Hurtful family

Full of every kind of love

  Bursting in anger

  Members hurt themselves

  Thus paining one another

  A saddening truth

  Tears in their eyes

As they are stabbed in the heart

  Fighting through their love

  A small family

  Full of sorrowful losses

  Yet they’re still standing

  48. I Am Who I Am

I have to stop thinking it isn’t me

Because whatever it may be, it is always me

Whether in the past or the present it’s always the same

History repeats itself, but doesn’t change

I am who I am and they do not accept

Whoever I am, they do not accept

More than once I’ve changed before

But I will always be the same at the core

I try to believe that someday it will be different

But the truth is, they are content

With or without me their lives move on

So maybe my presence just seems wrong

  I am who I am

And I can only change so much

  I am what I am

  Is that not enough?

  49. I Wish Not to Care

  I wish not to care

Because to care is to feel

And to feel is to acknowledge that others mean something to you

But others mean nothing, if you don’t mean anything to them

I wish to not to care

Because to care is to love

And to love is to respect others

But you can’t respect others, if they don’t respect you

  I wish not to care

Because to care is to show your true vulnerability

And to show your vulnerability is to set yourself up to get hurt

To get hurt over those who don’t care, is more painful than having no one to care for

  50. Imperfection

Perfect: a state of being that cannot be achieved

Causing those who try to ultimately grieve

Imperfection is the reality you must embrace

A sort of perfection filled with grace

In its desirability you should believe

  51. In a Shell

  Curl back in your shell

  Safe, secure, without much fear

  No harm shall reach you

  Weary when outside

  Frightened of their spying eyes

  Calmness in your shell

  52. In Shades of Brown

Chocolate skin melting the hearts of men

Mocha mistress struts with a seductive grin

Sipping coffee every morning, but at night enjoys her gin

Hazel eyes peering into a luring den

Copper clasps twinkling in the early light

Brunette beauty leaves in expert stealth

Mahogany doors close, shutting in useless wealth

While cunning caramel queen wanders in plain sight

  53. Insignificant

  Insignificant

  Small, almost dismissible

  Has a hollow heart

  Craving a true love

One to fill her heart with joy

  Left empty no more

  This tiny creature

  Still retains minimal hope

  But shall it remain?

  54. Intoxicating Scent

  Intoxicating

Is the scent which surrounds me

  What a desire

  Need beyond control

  From such a mysterious source

  So captivating

  The utter strangeness

  Of this overwhelming feel

  Captures from within

  55. Invisible

  I wish to be invisible

  I wish to disappear

  To be small and insignificant

  And never reappear

If people can no longer see me

  If I'm no longer there

The fear will leave me alone

And from nothing I'll be scared

  To be tiny, minuscule, unimportant

  That's all I really want

Because ambition is only for the mighty

And the truly tough at heart

But I am none of these

  Nor shall I ever be

  I only desire comfort

And for the fear to let go of me

  56. It Is Them

  Beat, maim, kill

  It is them, not us

  Isolate, shun, torture

  It is them, not us

  Imprison, decapitate, dehumanize

  It is them, not us

  “Because they are them

  And we are us”

  But in all honesty

  We are them

  And they are us

  57. Leaving Home

  Wishing to leave home

To venture out on my own

  Fearlessly wander

Confining duties

  Restricting regulations

  Keep me in my place

  A reality

True, but too bitter to face

  My home is not home

  The world still beckons

I can hear its siren call

  I will soon answer

  58. Legal Magicians

  A classy law firm

Skilled artists in their own sense

  Aiming for a win

  59. Lily on the Lake

  And reaches the other bank

  A simple journey

  60. Lurking Demon

  The mighty demon

  Lurks silently in the dark

  A demon was here

  61. The Most Valuable Commodity

  Tick tock goes the clock

  Indicating passing time

  Fearful or hopeful?

  The highest value

But daunting to those who live

  Threaded memories

  Joy can spend it well

  Sadness wastes it every day

  Far from infinite

  62. Mornings with a Capital M

  63. Multiple Faces

  A single person

  With many changing faces

  How do you trust them?

  They hiding away

  The truth behind this façade?

  Know that person first

  For every secret

  There is a hidden purpose

  Same for every face

  64. My Own World

  In a world all alone

In a world of my own

In a world that can easily be blown

  I wander aimlessly

Not out of loss or misery

But in search of my destiny

  I can only be happy

In this lonely world, where I’m free

In this seclusion created by me

  65. Mysterious Tale

On this very first day of the year

Let us hold on to all that's dear

As you forget that which ails

I will tell you a gripping tale

One of mystery and constant thrills

As it progresses it will give you chills

A story of crime so intense

Blink for a moment and it will make no sense

Who is the culprit and who is the victim?

Are they the same or can you distinguish them?

So is our tale of passion and fury

One was wronged and the other wasn't sorry

  Desired by all beings

  Feared when merciless

  67. A New Reign

  Tyranny now gone

  Abolishing its customs

  Her rule shall prevail

  68. New Year

  New Year, new outlook

  Newer opportunities

  But same life, same you

  New reality?

  New hope for the uncertain?

  Same person inside

  Feeling of numbness

  Lacking any emotions

  So empty inside

  Such blinding darkness

  Intensely overwhelming

  The dysfunctional

  70. Painted Visage

  Countless faces filling the streets

  Blurry visages that never speak

But one stands out from the wall

And he admires her colors with every stroll

A mystery girl adorning the city

Neglected in plain sight, yet always pretty

She was made for him, he always thought

Marvelous, majestic and can never be bought

She soothes the ails of lonely sufferers

And quenches the thirst of young art-lovers

Desperate wanderers in a world that crushes

Can sometimes find hope in paint and brushes

  71. Passing World

  The world passes by

  Watching hopelessly outside

  Waiting to enter

  Unfairly expelled

By those who would see you fail

  Clinging to your hope

  72. Perfume

  Enticing fragrance

  From such a distant perfume

  Excites a lone soul

  In search of this smell

It veers from its lonely path

  Desiring much more

  73. Pleasure

  Real is his pleasure

Exuberant is the bride on her wedding day

  True is her pleasure

  Monumental is her pleasure

  74. A Poem on the Pain of Injustice

  A mixture of guilt

  An overwhelming sense of injustice

  The shadowy spell of unworthiness

  I’m screaming inside

I’m tormenting those who care about me the most

And I have no idea how to make it stop

  I pray for an answer

  I wish for a sign

  My torment is agonizing

  My reality is false

There is nothing I can do

There are no answers to my questions

There is no solace in my pain

The words I write are jumbled

The hand that types is trembling

  The heart inside is pounding

In this green field I am not

In this vast space I am not

  Where am I?

  I do not know

  Who am I?

  I do not know

  Why am I?

  I do not know

She has suffered for too long

  She has sacrificed too much

  I am unworthy of her

  She has sacrificed too much

Her life has not been her own

  Her pain has
been silenced for too long

She carries the world on her back

  But who will carry her

  The reality of injustice

  The cruelty of unfairness

  The truth about this world

  We are unworthy of her

  I need to go home

  I need to go home

  I need to go home

  75. A Race against the Clock

An endless race we will never win

As the hands of the clock spin and spin

Ever so cunning this game we play

Makes us wonder if we've lived a day

A deadly curse dooming all mankind

This funny concept: the elapsing of time

In a grinding life we all believe

Because our goal is to constantly achieve

Breathe, some say to those who run

Take a moment to have some fun

We're already late, the runners say

If we stop and wait, it'll all be taken away

A modern world revolving around success

Forbidding all to settle for less

"It's your duty to society and to yourself"

But by the time you get there, you'll have nothing left

  76. Rainy Day

  Rainy day, rainy day

Oh! How I wish you’d stay

  As you cleanse the trees

And your droplets sparkle in the streets

  Drip, drop, pitter, patter

The anticipated sounds of the rainy day

  77. Ringing Bells

There are bells ringing in my head

Every day when I leave my bed

They are loud and they are strong

  Ringing Ding-Dong, Ding-Dong

I take a step with every ring

To watch the window birds sing

  They chirp a cheerful melody

  I hum along happily

  They brighten my morning everyday

  Until they finally fly away

The bells are tuned to their song

Because they never stopped ringing all along

  78. Rocky Surface

  A rocky surface

  Surrounded by untamed space

  What would you expect?

  Collapsing of sides?

Strength in the face of horror?
