  MONTEJHA | TRAINED TO GO

  “Time, that was good Montejha. Very good. You’re a natural like your mother was.” My auntie smiled at me. I nodded. Every day after we dropped my little cousin GG off to school, my aunt took me to her training chambers. Not your average gym or gun range, she was training me to protect myself. I asked her when will she let me go home, and she said not until she feels as though I can protect myself. I talked to Yani the first time I got here, and she said shit hit the fan back home. I immediately wanted to go back and check on Kato, but my auntie said hell to the nawl. So, she started teaching me how to protect myself. I had to know how to load a clip and fire in less than ten seconds. It took me a long time to master it, but I got better. She said with the way things were at home, I needed to always be prepared.

  “You feel like you ready to return home?” she asked.

  “I actually like it here,” I told her. She nodded.

  “I do too. It’s quiet, especially with us living way out in a peaceful neighborhood.”

  “I always wanted to move to Cali, but now I don’t know. Memphis might be where it’s at,” I told her. She smiled.

  “And you can open up your own Lash and Brow Bar in the inner city. It’s a lot of money to be made, trust me.” She nodded.

  “Yeah, that might be the move,” I told her.

  As time went on, the calls from Kato decreased. I remember Yani telling me she saw him with a different bitch every time she saw him lately. But that was almost three weeks ago when she and I talked. It had been a month since I left home and I was in no rush to return home. I loved it in Memphis, and I loved the relationship I had with my auntie Mo and her best friend, Taylynn. But I think I missed Kato more. I couldn’t really talk to him right now ‘cause a part of me was still mad, and also my auntie said he would probably try and look up my location. So, I had to suffer, only listening to his voicemails.

  We got back to the house, and they were drinking and playing cards. Grei was in her room knocked out. I was laughing at them and their old stories they were telling when my phone rang. To my surprise it was Kato, I stood and lied saying I had to go to the bathroom. I damn near sprinted to the bathroom almost missing his call. I answered, and I could hear him blowing in the phone which meant he was smoking.

  “Hello,” he yelled, and I tried to hold my laughter.

  “Hey,” I said softly.

  “HEY? YOU OUT YO’ DAMN MIND? HEY? THAT’S ALL YOU GOT TO SAY?” he barked in the phone so damn loud I had to pull the phone from my ear.

  “Kato. Firstly, lower your voice,” I yelled at him.

  “Where the fuck you at?” he asked.

  “Why Kato? You been moving as if I never existed so keep that same energy.” I told him.

  “Oh, I just wanna know where you at so I can smack fire out yo’ dumb ass. If I find out, you had anything to do with this shit. I swear,” he snapped.

  “What are you talking about?” I asked.

  “I left you a voicemail, I don’t know about a month ago. I said if you didn’t call me back in twenty-four hours I was assuming the worse. So, I assumed the worst until Yani told me you were good. Just taking a vacation,” he said sarcastically.

  “I’m sorry, I just needed some time to myself. To get myself together,” I started.

  “What you do? Skip town with that nigga you were at the clinic with? ‘cause he got ghost too, so when you put two and two together, what that make,” he said in a chilling tone.

  “What? Kato? I’m not with him, what are you talking about,” I argued.

  “TWO PLUS TWO IS WHAT MONTEJHA,” he yelled.

  “WHAT DOES THAT HAVE TO DO WITH ANYTHING DUMBASS.” I yelled back at him. He started laughing, and the longer I stayed on the phone with him, the crazier he sounded.

  “Are you drunk?” I asked him.

  “You got me so fucked up bruh, I’m might just blow yo’ fucking head off along with his. But I’ll see you soon.” He hung up. I quickly called Yani to see what the fuck was going on.

  “Hello,” I greeted her. She sniffled into the phone.

  “Hey Tejha, you gotta come home. I been trying to call you, but your phone go straight to voicemail. Q finally passed away, he was in a coma for almost a month. Dreux is going crazy, but I have never seen Khaos like this Tejha, he needs you right now,” she said in one breath. I just nodded as if she could see me.

  “Okay, okay. Umm. I’ll be there as soon as I can,” I told her.

  “Tejha—” She stopped me.

  “Yeah, Yani,” I said.

  “Be careful. I love you best friend,” she said.

  “I love you more Yani, I’ll see you soon,” I told her. We hung up, and as soon as I opened the bathroom door, my auntie Mo and Tay stood there.

  “I know, Geechi just told me. It’s time to send sunshine back.” I nodded.

  ~~~
  As soon as I got in town, I got in my car and went to the grocery store. I grabbed all of Kato’s favorite foods and desserts putting them in my cart. Once I checked out, I put them in my trunk and drove to his house. Bring all the groceries in, the dogs were so happy to see me. Which was shocking from Roxie, ‘cause she hated me. But from the smell, I could tell Kato hadn’t been home in a few days. I fed them and let them out in the backyard while I cleaned up. I had to throw so much shit away that had gone bad and picked up all his dirty clothes. A good hour and a half later, I put all my meats in the sink that I needed to defrost and hopped back in my car after letting Roxie and Rosco back in. I called Dreux and put it on speaker.
  “Yoo Money Montejha,” he said.
  “Hey Dreux, you at home?” I asked him.
  “Yeah, why?” he asked.
  “No reason,” I told him and hung up.
  When I walked up to their door, Yani answered, and I hugged her tightly. She looked like she had been crying too. I went in the living room, and Dreux was playing the game when he stood to hug me.
  “I don’t know if it’s a good or a bad thing you back.” He hugged me tightly.
  “A good thing, I’m sorry for your lost. I know how close y’all were, this is crazy,” I told him and sat down.
  “Yeah, but we all knew what we were getting into.” He shrugged. He had this sad look in his eyes, and I could only imagine what Kato was looking like.
  “How’s Kato?” I asked. He exhaled and ran his hands over his face.
  “My nigga a mess. We got into it the other day, I told that nigga he was on some reckless ass shit. He ain’t been the same since you left and when Q finally left he just went over the edge.” He shook his head.
  “Has he been going home? His house was a hot mess, and it stunk so bad,” I said. He shook his head and shrugged.
  “Last I knew, nah. Nigga been going day in and out doing what he does best. Causing Khaos. But when we got the call two days ago that Q was gone, that nigga started drinking heavy and with the shit that’s going on, he off his fucking square which is why I told that nigga that,” he explained. I nodded.
  “He think you been gone with that nigga Oden,” he added.
  “No, I went down south to visit some family,” I told him. He stared at me for a while, and I spoke again.
  “Just call him and tell him to get to his house ASAP around nine. If you can do that for me?” I asked him.
  “Yeah, I’ll be in the neighborhood. ‘cause that nigga ain’t been nothing nice lately. Just call me if you need me,” Dreux warned. I sat and kicked it with Yani for another hour or so and then made my way back to his house, making sure to pull my car in the garage. I started cooking my feast and playing my music talking to the dogs. Once I put my cobbler in the oven, I went and took a nice hot shower while shedding a few tears for Q. He was good people, and I knew him, and the boys were really close, my heart went out to all of them. I knew they were hurting right now. I got out the shower and oiled myself from head to toe. I put on my all red lace bra and panty set with the matching heels. I put the matching lace robe on
and left my hair down in its kinky curl state. I went downstairs and made sure everything was perfect. I ended up sitting on the couch watching TV with Rosco right in front of me laid out and Roxie on the couch next to me waiting on this nigga. I saw lights in the driveway I quickly put them in their room, closing their door.
  Sitting in the kitchen waiting for him to walk in had my heart and stomach in knots. I was so fucking nervous, I didn’t know how he was going to react. I heard him call out for Rosco and Roxie and talking to himself. But when he came around the corner and scowled at me, I knew I needed to call Dreux. I quickly stood to my feet and stood my ground. He walked up to me towering over me. He caressed my face looking into my eyes, his were bloodshot red. Before I could react, this crazy nigga took his big ass hand and wrapped it around my throat before lifting me off my feet and slamming me into the wall. I was clawing at his hand as he gritted through his teeth.
  “You set my nigga up? Huh? You working with that nigga,” he gritted.
  “NO.” I got out. He stared in my eyes, and I could see so much fucking pain. My baby was hurting, and I wasn’t here for him. He loosened his grip on me, and I reached up to touch his face. He smacked my hand away before letting me go completely.
  “How was your trip to Memphis?” he asked. I frowned.
  “How you know I was in Memphis?” I asked. He just stared at me. I continued talking.
  “It was nice, meeting family and stuff. I like it there,” I told him. He didn’t say anything, just eyed me lustfully.
  He picked me up and sat me on the counter top, he was looking in my eyes as if he was searching for something. I touched his face and brought it closer to me, lightly pecking his soft lips. He intensified the kiss, kissing me with so much passion and aggression. I couldn’t help but to match it. He pulled back and took off his shirt, and I ran my hand down his chest to his stomach. He looked at me smirking, before pulling down his pants over his hips releasing his beautiful hard pole. I was instantly dripping, my legs a mind of their own as they spread wide and I pulled my panties to the side.
  He entered me with urgency, and my eyes flickered and watered as this nigga filled me up. It was something about when me and Kato made love or fucked, it just did something to me every time. A month was a long ass time for a person who was riding dick twice sometimes three times a day on a regular.
  “Damn,” I moaned out as he pulled back out and slowly entered me again. I looked up to see him looking down at me with his beautiful ass face, biting his bottom lip. I was literally under his spell. As he slowly stroked in and out, only giving me half of his dick, my juices just poured out more and more. It sounded so fucking good, his heavy breathing and grunting.
  “Give it to me,” I begged. I was like a fucking fein for this man. I felt my orgasm close, my toes started curling as he dove deeper inside my walls and I threw my head back, ignoring the pain from hitting the cabinet behind me.
  “YES. YES. YES. OHHHH, FUCK ME,” I squealed, pulling my tits out of my bra and playing with my nipples. That sent me over edge, and I started rolling my hips under him as my eyes rolled to the back of my head. I was shaking and cumming.
  “Oh, ahh. Oh fuck. Shit, give me a minute, damn.” I was breathing hard, but I don’t know if he heard me or just didn’t care because he grabbed my legs and started slamming into me with no remorse. I looked up at him, and he was just staring at me frowning, and my mouth was wide the fuck open.
  “SHITT!” I cried out. Only Kato could make me cum back to back, he knew my body better than myself. But when he grabbed me by my neck and started hammering into me, I was fucking done. I was done for.
  I don’t know how long I had slept, but I woke up when I heard him whispering on the phone with someone. I crept out of the bed and slipped on his pajama shirt that was on the chair in his room. I walked down the hall, and he was looking outside the window with no shirt and some shorts. But staring at his back noticing the scratch marks that I didn’t put there, I instantly saw red, and before I could stop myself, I socked the shit out of him, shocking him and myself if I was being honest.
  KATO | ALL I GOT
  As soon as Montejha slapped me, I snapped. I turned around and beat the brakes off her, knowing she was no match for my strength. I saw red, and before I knew it, I was staring at her body on the ground lifeless. I was out of breath and just staring at her, she wasn’t moving.
  “Shit, Montejha, Momo, baby.” I shook her. She didn’t respond, groan or anything. I killed her, the only girl I ever loved, was gone. At the hands of me, and not being able to control my temper. She socked the fuck out of me, but I shouldn’t have raised a hand at her, and now she was gone.
  “Baby, I’m so sorry.” A tear fell from my eyes. This girl was my heart I couldn’t believe it.
  “FUCK!” I yelled. How the fuck was I gone deal with this shit?
  “You gone fuck me raw when you been fucking these other bitches. Do you even care about me,” she spat. I looked down at her frowning at me with tears in her eyes.
  “What the fuck is you talking about?” I asked her, still trying to process what the fuck just happened.
  “These scratches on your back KATO! You a dog ass nigga,” she spat.
  “Montejha, the next time you put yo’ hands on me, I’m laying you the fuck out. You, not a nigga, you done rocked my shit twice, and I ain’t did shit about it. But if I blow yo’ shit in, then I’ll be on the news, keep yo’ fucking hands to self.” I mushed her in her head.
  “You just gone ignore what the fuck I said?” she asked.
  “Bruh is you fucking crazy, you don’t remember clawing my fucking back last night like you were a fucking cat ‘cause you couldn’t take the dick?” I asked her. She stood there looking crazy as hell. I shook my head, pissed the fuck off that she socked me all over some shit she did. I walked downstairs and outside to the deck, making sure to bring Rosco and Roxie out with me. I rolled a blunt and stared at them two running in the yard acting a fool.
  I had so much shit on my fucking plate. Q was at one of the houses the night it got aired out, and he tried to hang on. But he left, the shit hurt like hell. I grew up with Quan and Dreux, them was my day one niggas, it’s been us three from the jump. I felt for Q folks, but they ain’t have shit to worry about. His funeral was paid for and some. I hadn’t heard from my so-called family since that day. But I was close to finding that bitch Lawrynn. We had eyes on one of the niggas that worked for her, so we were just waiting to snatch his motherfucking ass up, and it was a wrap.
  “Bae, I made you a plate.” Montejha she came outside and sat my plate in front of me. It was my favorite foods on the plate and the shit smelled so good. I dug in, it was going on three in the morning, but I hadn’t been able to sleep. Dreux had called me to see if I came home and I told him yeah good looking out. I had found out that Rico one of my lieutenants was fucking with my moms and the shit blew me. He knew who my mother was, so why did he think I wasn’t gonna find out. I was sitting on that information. I was sitting on a lot of shit until I buried my nigga. That nigga Slim was in cahoots with this Lawrynn bitch but didn’t think I knew, I knew Kensli was in on it as well. Which was why I was playing her close as fuck.
  “I’m sorry, Kato. For everything.” She pecked me on the lips. I just nodded.
  “You are worrying the fuck outta me, your hair looks a mess, you done lost a few pounds and the way you were last night. You were fucking me not making love to me.” She looked at me with sad eyes.
  “I mean the fuck you expect. You just left me for a month. When shit got rough, you bounced, but that’s cool. I’m used to shit like that.” I shrugged.
  “I didn’t have a choice, Kato. If I knew what I know now I wouldn’t have stayed so long,” she argued.
  “Like I said, it’s cool,” I told her. She stared at me sat in my lap.
  “I’m here now, and I’m not leaving your side. We gone get through this together,” she told me kissing me.
  “Yeah, alr
ight we’ll see,” I told her.
  The next few days, I ain’t gone lie. I stayed up in the crib up under Montejha sleeping and eating. I had my barber come to my crib to make sure I was cut for the funeral today. Montejha had got me a suit and everything. I had smoked so much today, I was just trying to process all this shit.
  “I know you not ready, but we gonna be late if we don’t leave now Kato.” Montejha peeked her head in the bathroom.
  “Get the fuck out the doorway Montejha. I’m a grown ass man, I know what fucking time it is, and I know,” I started.
  “Kato just stop it.” She put her hand up, rolling her eyes and walked all the way in. I didn’t have my tie tied or nothing. She walked back out and brought back my Versace loafers putting them in front of me.
  “Need me to put them on for you?”
  “I’m good.” I put them on. She started tying my tie, and I couldn’t help but to admire her looking down at her. I been giving her hell since she got back in town, but she had been ignoring the fuck outta every mean thing I said to her. I loved this girl so much, she was wearing her real hair, and I loved pulling and tugging that nappy shit. She looked at me and grabbed the brush, brushing toward me, before setting it down.
  “Y’all ready?” Dreux knocked on the bedroom door and said.
  “We’ll be right there,” she said.
  “You look good bae. When we get back I’ma get you pregnant,” she joked. I chuckled and shook my head following her out the room. We walked outside, and I helped my baby into my truck. When she got in and put on her seatbelt, I stood there in the door admiring her.
  “What?” She looked at me with a confused smile.
  “You got a booger in yo’ nose,” I told her before shutting her door. I saw her pull the mirror down as I walked to the driver side and climbed in.
  “You play so fucking much, I really can’t stand you.” She giggled.
  We drove off heading to the church. Me and Dreux were Pallbearers of course, and it was tough carrying my nigga in and out the church. But carrying him to his grave, the shit had me fucked up. As we set him where they instructed us to, I took a few steps back and looking down, I was about to lose it. ‘I need a drank or some shit,’ I was about to walk off. But someone grabbed my hand, and I knew who it was without even looking. Montejha held my hand tightly, but I needed my baby in my arms. I pulled her in front of me and rested my head on top of hers, wrapping my arms around her warm body. She started swaying from side to side, and it was like we were the only two out there.
