Delicate (Sublime Series Book 1) Page 22

by Michelle Everett

She lowered herself back down onto my lap allowing her bare center to rest against my thick cock. I could feel her heart pounding in time with my own. In seven months there had been so many moments of complete intimacy and there was no doubting that she trusted me to honor her wish to wait until marriage but this was the first time she had allowed my bare manhood to touch against her center. The softness of her against me made my body shake. It was taking every ounce of self-control I had to keep from burying myself deep inside her.

She slowly ground her hips against me while we resumed our kissing. She used my cock to slide against her clit and bring her to the ultimate finish. Her head fell back and her back arched against my hands. Her screams filled the silence around us as I buried my face into her chest.

She forced me out of the water, sitting me on the ledge of the hot tub while she sucked me dry. My fingers tangled in her hair, pushing her mouth deeper against me as I emptied myself into her throat.

  Chapter Thirty Four

  Amber

He made dinner for us in the small kitchen while I sat on at the counter watching him. He had refused to let me help insisting that this was something he wanted to do for me. I watched him move effortlessly around while managing to prepare the meat and vegetables at the same time without any struggle. Apparently he had gone to the grocery store yesterday and came up here to stock the kitchen. I was so impressed that he had thought of all the details beforehand so that we could fully enjoy all the time we had together.

I set the table - a small round table only big enough for two people - while he finished cooking. I made sure to light the candles that sat on the small tray with the salt and pepper shakers.

The bottle of wine was nearly empty but its effects were hardly felt. I was drunk off the happiness of being around Tobie more than any alcohol. Watching him perform simple domestic acts like cooking dinner were the best aphrodisiac. There were so many things about Tobie that I loved but knowing that he knew his way around a kitchen was one of my favorites. Watching him clean the house in nothing but his gym shorts was another.

“Should I open another bottle of wine?” I asked him, showing him the nearly empty bottle.

“If you’d like. Dinner is just about finished.”

I stepped into the kitchen to get a bottle of white wine out of the fridge. He blocked my path with his large body. “You’re not allowed in here right now.” I scowled at him and put my hands on my hips in defiance. He laughed and placed a quick kiss on my cheek, “You’re cute when you’re angry.”

He reached into the fridge and pulled out a bottle of wine and handed it to me. I held my hand out for the corkscrew that was sitting on the counter easily within reach, but technically in the kitchen. He chuckled as he picked it up and placed it in my hand.

I had just finished pouring the wine when he brought out our plates filled with slices of pork tenderloin, garlic mashed potatoes and green beans. I groaned in anticipation over the smell.

“I can’t believe you did all this for me, Tobe. This looks fantastic.”

“I would do anything for you, beautiful.” He raised his wine glass up to me, “To a memorable weekend.”

Raising mine to meet his, I agreed.

Tobie and I talked over dinner for at least two hours. As usual, being with him was as natural as breathing. We talked about work, about Hannah coming back home and how that would be an adjustment since practically every night of the last six months had been spent in each other’s arms. Tobie hadn’t officially moved in, but he had a good amount of stuff that had collected at my house in that time. His work boots found a regular location by the garage door a few weeks after Hannah left for California. I cleared out a drawer in the bathroom for him around month two and his laundry started mixing in with mine in month five. Month six gave him a small section of my closet. And here were were at month seven on our first vacation together.

We talked about our plans for Christmas and what the standard traditions for each of our families had been. I was really looking forward to spending the time with him and his family this year. The last seven Christmases had been particularly depressing without my parents. When Cathy had been staying with us we had made sure to keep things as normal as possible for Hannah but after she left for college it had turned into a quiet dinner on Christmas Eve with just the two of us, a small exchange of gifts and a trip to the movies on Christmas Day. I missed having the big family dinner. I missed taking turns watching everyone open their presents one by one. I wanted all of the happiness and joy that the season brought back in my life.

We cleared the table together and Tobie relented to letting me help clean the dishes after I promised that I would make it worth his while if he let me help. Afterwards, he refilled our glasses with wine and led me out onto the back porch.

The sun had gone down hours ago, making quite the spectacular sunset while we watched from a rocking chair. The sky was crystal clear and deep black now, with a smattering of a million twinkling stars overhead. Tobie pulled me down into his lap and wrapped a soft heavy blanket over us. We sat quietly together, enjoying the silence that only the mountains could bring us. His fingers were wrapped around mine as his thumb caressed the back of my hand.

  Tobias

There are lots of moments in life where words are necessary. Where talking is important and conversation is vital. This; however, was not one of those moments. Amber sat on my lap, holding my hand in hers while resting her head against my shoulder. We sat together in perfect silence while the stars twinkled above us. I committed every single aspect of this moment to memory. I let the feeling of her warm body against mine, the soft smell of her hair, the gentle sound of her breathing tattoo themselves into my brain. This was a night that I wanted to remember every tiny detail of for the rest of my life.

  “Tobie?” Amber asked quietly.

  “Yes, love?”

“Thank you for bringing me here,” she nuzzled against my neck. “I love it here.”

“I love you, Amber,” I sighed and placed a lingering kiss on the top of her head. “I want to spend the rest of my life with you.”

Her face stopped moving against my neck and her hand fell still for a fraction of a second. She leaned back to view my face. Her eyes were the most brilliant shade of blue I had ever seen in my life. She held my gaze trying to read my thoughts.

“I love you more than I ever thought imaginable,” I continued. “You have been the pinnacle of everything good and true in my life. Since I was fifteen there has never been a woman more beautiful, more lovely, more perfectly suited for me than you. I want to wake up next to you every morning. I want to fall asleep with you in my arms every night. I want to build a life with you, full of kids and pets and Christmases and birthdays. I want to share every part of myself with you.”

I shifted in the rocking chair so that I could stand up. Amber rose up off of me but stood dumbfounded by the words I was speaking. Her eyes were wide and her mouth was slightly parted. I reached into my pocket and pulled out the thing that had been burning a hole against my thigh the entire night.

I knelt down on one knee, “Amber Kilroy, I love you with all my heart. I want you. I want you and me forever.” I reached out for her hand and slid the ring onto her finger, “Will you marry me?”

Tears began running down her face. She fell to the ground with me, staring at her finger in disbelief. “Oh, my God, yes!” she cried, throwing her arms around my neck, “A million times, yes!”

I held her tightly against me, standing back up to hold her better. She released her arms from around my neck and placed her tear soaked lips against mine. She stepped back and ran in place for a moment, squealing and laughing in happiness before she looked back down to admire her ring. It took a second for her to comprehend the full extent of what I had done. She’s fucking adorable.

“Oh, my God, Tobie…” she gasped, “is this…?”

“Yes, love. It’s your mom’s ring.”

  She was
bawling now. Her face was a mess of tears pouring down her cheeks, “How in the world did you get this!?”

“Hannah gave it to me the last time she was in town.”

  “She knew!?”

“Of course she knew, babe. Your dad might not be around anymore, but I wanted to ask for your hand properly. Hannah was thrilled and cried almost as much as you right now.”

  “She cried?"

"Well, no. But she did threaten to cut my balls off if I ever hurt you and in Hannah speak, that's pretty close to crying."

I can’t believe she didn’t say anything!” Amber was still gasping at the ring, tilting it in the moonlight to make it sparkle.

“I may have threatened to tell her new boss that she was leaking company secrets if she did.”

Amber laughed and threw her arms around my neck again. “Tobie, I can’t tell you how happy I am right now. I love you so much.”

My heart swelled to epic proportions. I had never been so happy in my entire life. I had known from the first time we kissed in her kitchen that I wanted to spend eternity with this woman. Knowing that I was the source of her joy made me know for certain that she was without a doubt, the best thing that would ever happen to me.

  Chapter Thirty Five

  Amber

I was shocked. I was thrilled. I was completely and utterly elated to be in love with and now engaged to the most amazing man in the entire world. Never in a million years did I ever dream of being so lucky.

I held his face in my hands and looked deeply into those gorgeous brown eyes that had stopped me in my tracks at the carwash. The amount of love and compassion that they held could have fueled a thousand lanterns for eternity. His smile was small but sincere. That little dimple barely present. His hands held gently to the small of my back, promising to keep me safe for the rest of our lives.

“How did I ever get so lucky?” I whispered to him, the sparkles from my ring dancing against the moonlight, “I love you so much.”

He leaned down to kiss me gently. His lips parted slightly, his tongue swept ever so softly against mine. “It’s me who is lucky, Amber. Thank you for giving me a chance.”

“If you weren’t so damn sexy I might have refused,” I teased, shivering as a breeze blew past.

“See?” He grinned, “Lucky for me.” I kissed my fingertip and poked his dimple. “Come on, let’s go inside. Dad and Susan left champagne.”

“Wait, what?” I gasped, trailing behind him into the house, “They knew, too?!”

Tobie laughed. “Yes, love. Why else do you think they were so eager to offer the cabin for the weekend?” He squatted down next to the fireplace to start a fire. Thank God for gas logs. And that fine ass. With the click of a lighter, the flames sprang to life sending their heat out into the room.

“So why am I the last to know about my own engagement?” I huffed.

Tobie had moved into the kitchen and was wrestling with the champagne bottle, “I don’t think it would have been much of a surprise if you had known first, babe.” The cork popped out with a loud sound. I reached for the flutes that were hanging on the small bar in the hallway.

“So who do I get to surprise with our announcement then if the whole world already knows? Do I at least get to tell Sarah?” I grumbled.

Tobie laughed and filled our flutes. “Yes, you can tell Sarah. Sorry to make you so angry,” he winked, “I’ll be sure to spoil all my surprises for you in the future so you don’t feel left out.”

  “Good.”

He rolled his eyes at me and handed me a glass. “I love you soon-to-be-Amber-Miller. I can’t wait to call you my wife… and make lots of babies with you.”

“You would be thinking about sex right now,” I scolded him. “We haven’t even set a date and you’re already making babies.”

“Alright, fine. When would you like to get married?” he asked, leading us over to the couches.

“Hmm,” I thought while sipping my champagne. But honestly, it was kinda hard to focus on setting a date when Tobie had just mentioned baby-making. It was a harsh reality to accept the fact that I wasn’t getting any younger and my biological clock had started ticking pretty loudly lately.

“Maybe spring?” I suggested, “Would that be too soon?”

“Babe, I’d marry you tomorrow if you wanted. I may have had a crush on you since I was fifteen, but I’ve been falling more and more in love with you every day that we’ve been together. I see no reason to wait if you don’t want to.”

Seriously? My heart was melting into a puddle of goo inside my chest. “While tomorrow sounds lovely and all, I think I’d like to plan a little bit more.”

“Anything you want, love.” He reached for my champagne glass now that it was practically empty. “But...” he set both glasses down on the coffee table, “there is something I want to do first.” He leaned in to kiss me, his lips gliding smoothly over mine. The taste of champagne still lingered on his tongue. The passion he had stirred in me earlier today was roaring back to life slowly spreading its heat though my body and settling in between my legs.

His strong arms lifted me up into his lap spreading my knees and placing them on either side of his hips. His hands ran up and down the length of my back, his kisses became more and more intense with every pass of his tongue. His fingers dug into my hips. The thoughts of baby making flooded my brain, burning their way into my soul. There was nothing I wanted more than to create a life with this man. A life together. A life that was the perfect combination of him and me.

“Tobie,” I whispered against his neck, my lips brushing against his skin, drinking him in, “I don’t want to wait.”

“Ok, babe. Tomorrow it is.” He raised his hips against me, pressing himself against me.

“No,” I murmured in his ear, “I don’t want to wait to start a family. I want you. I want all of you. Tonight.”

He moaned and his cock flexed hard against me. I circled my hips against him. “Amber,” he groaned again, “you know how badly I want you.” I kept kissing him. I kept grinding myself against him. “But I’m not going to let you break your vow.”

I leaned back from him to search his eyes. “Are you serious right now? I’m quite literally giving you permission and now you’re saying no?!”

He laughed slightly and lowered me off of his lap. I curled up next to him while his arms wrapped around my body. “Trust me, love… every cell in my body is rooting for this to happen.” He kissed my forehead. “But putting that ring on your finger is my way of saying that I promise to love and honor and cherish you for the rest of my life. What kind of man would I be if I let you… us… give in to temptation within in the first hour of that promise?”

How does he do this!? How can he be so amazingly perfect for me?! Thank you, Lord for this wonderful man!

“I promise to love you for the rest of my life, Amber. We have the rest of our lives to fulfill every desire and fantasy we have for eachother. We don’t have to rush it.”

I grabbed his cheeks in my hands and pressed his lips to mine. “I love you, Tobias. Now and forever.”

  Chapter Thirty Six

  Amber

“Damn, it is eleven thirty already!?’ Hannah asked as she helped me clean up Balderdash.

I glanced at my watch, “Wow. I guess so! We should probably turn the TV up and get ready.” I placed all the pieces in the box and closed the lid.

“Should I pour the champagne?” Aunt Cathy asked.

“That’s a great idea. The glasses are in the dining room. Tobe?” I called into the kitchen where he was with the rest of the guys, “Can you help Cathy get the champagne glasses, please?”

  “Sure.” He called back.

“Oh! Amber, before I forget,” Sarah reached for the board game, “I put your old, new, borrowed and blue things in your tote bag and it’s sitting right next to your dress. We can’t forget it tomorrow.”

Tobie and I had decided that New Year’s Day was the perfect day for us to get married.
It was going to be a small wedding with just our closest friends and family. Cathy had flown in from Texas two days ago and was staying at my house. Correction: Tobie and my house. Well, almost.

Actually, he ‘moved out’ when we got back from the cabin. We had decided that it was too much temptation to be sleeping in the same bed together with the wedding so close. We were afraid that one of us would ‘slip’ - pun intended. But what’s weird is that being apart was actually bringing us closer together. I couldn’t explain why that was, but it was.

Hannah would be moving into Jack and Susan’s house - a trade, if you will - until she was able to settle into her job here. I had been so impressed by her since she’d moved back from college. Hannah had always struggled with her own identity, sometimes relying heavily on her wit and charm to disguise her true insecurities but adulting suited her well. Her and Adam were absolutely perfect for each other, too, and I really hoped that things would work out for them.

Tomorrow was going to be perfect. And I don’t say that because I’m an over zealous, Type A planner person. Quite the opposite, really. Those traits fell heavy on the shoulders of Hannah. Tomorrow was going to be perfect because I was marrying Tobias Miller. The nerdy, lost puppy who followed my little sister around for years turned hella hot and amazingly sweet, sensitive and caring man who I was now head over heels in love with. It could rain, sleet, snow, be sunny or cloudy. As long as he and our pastor showed up the day would be perfect. That’s all that mattered to me.

We decided to only have a best man and maid of honor for the wedding. Hannah for me and Jack for him. Sarah had appointed herself as wedding coordinator which suited me just fine especially since she had been dreaming of my wedding the second her’s was over. In total, the guest list topped out at thirty people.

Adam returned to the family room and grabbed Hannah around the waist, “Can I pour the champagne all over your body, babe?” he boomed.
