"But I want to help," Timmy insisted.
"And you will be by taking care of our home and watching Ozcog. Besides, you don't want to distract York and cause him to get harmed," Suneth gently said.
Timmy started wringing his hands and rocking from side to side. "Okay, Sunny, but please watch over my Yorkie."
"I give you my word," Suneth said with determination, then quickly made his way to the door.
Jett and Finn gripped each other's shoulders and shifted the second they made it out of the house, then quickly took flight. Suneth followed suit, shifting into his gargoyle.
Dragons and phoenix were fighting the enemy in the air, as Griffions and Pixies were engaged in hand-to-hand combat on the ground.
It didn't take Suneth long to find his mate, but what he saw turned his blood cold. Six was in hand-to-hand combat with three fairies, as Flyer was shooting at trolls and even some elves that had stayed with Fallon. Snake was using his flame thrower on the Benu as Wade fired laser shots at the Girallon.
Suneth launched himself at a Girallon that refused to go down and was heading for his mate. Suneth grabbed the large beast with his sharp claws and lifted the fucker high into the air by its head, dug his claws in, and twisted. Seconds later, Suneth still had the head in his claws, but the body had dropped to the ground. Suneth dropped the head of the beast and swooped in next to his mate, shifting. "Having fun without me?"
"I got bored," Wade replied, as he continued to shoot.
"Commander, they are coming in too fucking fast. We can't continue at this pace," Six said with a grunt as he grabbed a fairy by his arm, twisted, and plunged his knife into the bastard’s neck, then heart, then let him drop to the ground.
Suneth could see more beasts coming out of the strange portal. Turning to the Griffion fighting next to his mate, Suneth ordered, "Go get Pascal, Ollie, Nelson, and Toby."
Wade looked at his mate in confusion. "Why would you want them here? It's too dangerous."
Suneth smirked at his mate. "Don't let Ollie hear you say such things. I quite enjoy your cock in my ass."
Rolling his eyes, Wade replied, "I didn't mean it like that. Vik told me we have to keep them protected at all cost. Right now, this isn't exactly a safe location."
A troll and a fairy came out of nowhere and would have had their heads, had Flyer not took them out, hissing, "Can you guys talk about your next sexcapade after we get through this shit?"
Wade fired his laser weapon and sliced four fairies in half, snapping back, "You're just jealous you don't have a mate of your own."
Sighing, Flyer replied, "You have no idea."
Seconds later Pascal, Zen, Toby, Nelson, and Ollie were standing in front of Suneth along with Dain, Kerrick, and Rune. Pascal looked around wide-eyed, gasping, "Oh by the Gods."
"Holy hell," Dain whispered.
Fire drops began to fall and Dain swirled his hand, effectively placing a protective dome around all of them. "What the hell is going on here and why were we not informed?"
"It isn't like I have your number, Dain," Wade responded.
Dain pursed his lips and turned to Wade in annoyance. "Well, then I guess we need to put it on speed dial. This is insanity. My men should be here helping."
"The pixies in Crystal are helping," Wade stated.
"And I will be questioning Pelt as to why I was not made aware of this situation," Dain replied back.
"Take care of it later. Right now, we need to get this situation dealt with. They are after the jewel of resistance, Dain," Suneth replied.
"Are you sure that's what this is?" Wade asked.
"What the heck is a jewel of resistance?" Flyer asked.
Suneth replied, "It is a jewel that makes the person and everyone in their Chimera, Clutch, or whatever completely immune to any powers from anyone."
"Fuck me!" Six gasped.
Stepping forward Ollie asked, "What is it you need us to do, Suneth?"
A large black phoenix landed next to them and Nash shifted, snarling, "Why is my mate here?"
Pointing at the large funnel-like portal where hundreds of paranormals were currently in battle, Suneth replied, "I need you guys to collapse that portal."
"Oh hell no! My mate is not going anywhere near there. Toby, go home," Nash ordered gruffly.
Toby raised a brow. "You may be my mate, but how many times do I have to remind you, you are not my boss?"
Nash gritted his teeth, hissing, "We are not having this argument now. It is far too dangerous for you here. Now go home."
Suneth rubbed the bridge of his nose, sighed, then said, "Nash, I understand your fear for your mate. I fear for mine just as much. However, if we do not close down that portal, we are going to be overrun more so than we are. For every paranormal we kill, twenty more show up. It must be done."
Ollie quickly said, "Suneth, I don't know if we can. I've only ever seen that color green when Rhys is changing the twins’ diapers, never in a portal."
Wade stepped forward. "Look, we just need you guys to try. Suneth is right, if we don't get that thing closed up, we are going to lose a lot more people than we already have."
Turning to Nash, Wade said, "My men and I will keep them off your mate and his brothers from down here, you and as many of you that can, help us keep them off them from the sky.”
Nash looked at his mate, pursed his lips, then nodded. “Fine, but I will be keeping close to the ground and near my mate and brothers-in-law when they go for the portal.”
“For now, go and start clearing the way. We have a plan to put together,” Suneth ordered.
CHAPTER 13
Wade turned to Six. “Use your artillery shells, we need to open up space and a lot of it.”
“I love my job,” Six said with a wide smile. Turning, Six ran back to his SUV and grabbed his pretty baby. He loved his M224 small artillery launcher. Grabbing the case, Six raced back to where Wade and the others were standing and quickly set up.
“Wait, we can’t just shoot into that mêlée. Everyone will die, including our people,” Rune shouted.
“Damn, he’s right. Can’t you do this dome of safety thing to the portal?” Wade asked.
Shaking his head, Kerrick replied, “It would bring the bastards directly into our line of attack. However, I have an idea. The leaders all have a direct link to their people. We need Illan and Justice as well as Destrain here in the safe zone.”
“What are you thinking, mate?” Dain asked.
“Leaders have a mental link with all of their people,” Kerrick started to say.
Dain gasped and smiled quickly saying, “Have all the leaders give the retreat to our people and then fire.”
Nodding, Kerrick said, “Exactly. However, Six, you are going to have to be fast. We give the word and you fire at the same time.”
“Those that have chosen to continue to work with Fallon will also hear the order though,” Rune said in worry to Kerrick.
Nodding, Kerrick replied, “Yes, but if Six is quick enough, they won’t have time to give warning.”
Dain looked at Rune. “Can you go get Destrain, lover? I have to maintain this shield.”
“Of course, my love,” Rune replied, then kissed both his mates and immediately opened a portal and left.
Six looked up from his position. “So how do we get Illan and Justice in here? I’m set and ready to go.”
Ollie quickly said, “I can go get them.”
Suneth shook his head. “No, I will go.”
“It isn’t safe out there, Suneth,” Wade replied just as quickly.
Suneth looked at his mate, smiling. “Your concern for me is one of the many things I love about you, mate, but it must be me. They are in battle in the air, and I have wings. I’ve been fighting in battles most of my life. I’ll be okay.”
“One of the things you love about me?” Wade asked softly.
Nodding, Suneth replied, “Yes, mate, love. I love you. You have never looked at me as a king, only as a man―Your
man. You listen when I talk, make suggestions that can help my people. You are truly more than the other half to my soul and partner in everything. You are my very heart.”
Wade turned into Suneth, running his fingertips gently down Suneth’s cheek. Looking him straight in the eyes, Wade whispered, “I love you too, Suneth. I was planning on telling you that very thing when we unpacked what my guys and I moved to our new dwelling, but I can’t let your words go unanswered.”
Suneth shivered at Wade’s meaning. He knew exactly what Wade was telling him and from the look in the man’s eyes, it was something he definitely wanted to have happen―sooner rather than later. Smiling, Wade leaned forward and kissed Suneth, rasping, “Later, little man. We will have this conversation again to both of our pleasures.”
“Uh guys, as hot as this is to see―and damn how I wish I could be a fly on that wall when later comes, but we need to do something, things are kind of insane out there,” Ollie said anxiously.
Wade looked to where Ollie was pointing and quickly replied, “Fuck, more warriors are coming through that fucking portal!”
“Where is Rune? Shouldn’t he have been back by now?” Pascal asked in concern.
“You don’t think there’s been an attack in Maddox as well?” Nelson asked nervously.
“No, I was busy in the shower,” Destrain said as he walked out of a portal with Rune, who looked extremely embarrassed.
Destrain looked around in horror. "What the hell is happening here? Why was I not informed that Crystal was under attack?"
"It all happened so fast, Destrain. I wasn't even notified until a few minutes ago myself. We have a plan, but we must have you, Illan, and Justice's assistance."
"Whatever you need," Destrain replied stepping to the side, pointing his finger, and releasing an energy blast on three Girallon racing towards their force field.
Suneth looked at the others, saying, "I must go get Illan and Justice. We need to end this fight."
Destrain turned to Rune. "Go back to Maddox and have Nick contact Wyndingo to take over on any calls for now and have Nick and his men get over here. When we take care of this mess, we are going to have a lot of wounded to care for."
"Yes, sir," Rune replied, going back in the direction he had just come from.
"Suneth, maybe you should leave your talisman behind in case they try and take it," Wade suggested.
"He can't do that, Wade. If King Suneth removes his jewel, whoever touches it may face severe consequences. It's one of the reasons that they all wear one. Because by doing so, no one knows for sure who has the real one and will not attempt to take it, because if they are wrong, they will die and not in a nice way," Kerrick quickly replied.
Just as Kerrick finished speaking, a loud scream could be heard. Everyone turned as a Girallon seemed to be floating in the air, holding the talisman he must have taken off of Asbuth, since that is who he had been fighting. The Girallon's arms and legs were wide open as he twisted around and around. Suddenly his arms and legs popped off along with his head. Blood shot out in all directions and the beast fell. Asbuth picked his jewel up from the ground and placed it back on his neck.
"Okay, that shit was just nasty," Six mumbled.
Dain muttered, "I wonder which of my mates did that spell."
Kerrick grinned wide, saying, "Our Rune did. He's going to be so disappointed he missed seeing that."
Ignoring Six and the others, Suneth gently kissed Wade, whispering, "I'll be fine, just keep that gun aimed in my direction and do the best you can do as I do what I must."
Suneth quickly shifted into his gargoyle and took flight. The second he was out of the safe zone, fairies were on him. Wade, Snake, and Flyer took aim and fired, taking out four of the fuckers attacking Wade's mate.
Suneth got to Illan and Wade and watched as Suneth dug his claws into one of the fairy’s backs as he brought his sharp beak-like face forward and severed the fairy’s neck with one bite.
"Eww, Wade, you kiss that mouth," Six replied, curling his lip in disgust.
Wade smiled with pride as his mate continued to fight, saying, "Yes I do. Just look at his grace and style.”
Once Suneth had helped Illan fight off the fairies, he indicated for Illan to join him. They both flew to help Justice as he fought against fairies and Roc. The Roc had freaked Wade and his men out when they saw them come out of the portal the first time. Drake explained that they were the largest bird of prey known to all. Hell, from what Drake told him, they could carry off an elephant without a problem, and from the size of the bastard’s claws, Wade had no doubt about that detail.
Justice was dodging left then right as his left head pecked at the beast and the right did the same to the fairy trying to get to him. His third head, the one in the middle, kept shooting out flames, but the Roc was not going down without a fight.
Illan went after the fairy, taking him out in one move, and Suneth assisted Justice in taking out the Roc. Once that was done, Suneth made his way to the safe zone with Illan and Justice close behind. The second the dragon touched down, he shifted, "We are outnumbered out there."
Justice quickly made his way to Illan. "Gods, I am glad we had Avery go to Manny and Frankie's to protect him. This is insanity."
"Which is why we need to close this portal," Wade replied then repeated their plan.
Illan nodded, saying, "Okay, my guys are ready and they are going to help as many of the elves and pixies as they can to get out of harm's way as well."
"Mine as well, and they will also help the pixie and elves," Justice replied.
Turning to Pascal, Ollie, Toby, and Nelson, Wade asked, "Are you guys ready?"
"Just about," Ollie said, removing his shirt.
"Hey! Yo! What the fuck?" Flyer gasped.
"Hot damn. I love my job," Six replied with a wide smile watching the four brothers undress.
Zen growled low, "I suggest you look through that scope before I see if I can fit you in it."
The four brothers slowly began to shift. A loud hum began, almost like if someone was running their finger on a Champagne glass. The intensity grew until Wade thought his head might explode, and then suddenly like a pin to a balloon, the pressure and sound stopped and four of the most adorable figures stood about two feet tall in front of him.
"Oh my god, they are so fucking cute. Just don't feed that one after midnight," Six said with a broad smile and laugh, pointing at Pascal.
The four Santorini foxes began to growl, and Zen stepped forward picking his mate up, saying, "You do realize that you are making fun of a council member?"
Shrugging, Six replied, "That really means nothing to me."
Zen kissed his mate on the top of his head and sat him on the ground, then leaned into Six, saying in a deep ominous voice, "How about you are making fun of the mate to an African Elephant shifter that can crush you where you lay?"
Six looked at Zen without blinking, then replied, "Honestly, that means nothing to me either. However, I meant no offense to your mate and I apologize if I upset him."
"People, we do not have time for this. Pascal, are you and your brothers ready?" Suneth asked.
Nodding, Pascal, Ollie, Toby, and Nelson took each other’s hands, then turned as one and nodded once more.
Illan, Justice, Kerrick, Destrain, and Suneth closed their eyes, Illan said, "In three―two―one―go!"
The brothers took off towards the swirling, baby shit green portal, just as all the dragons, phoenix, elves, pixies, and Gargoyles took off, leaving the enemy standing there looking confused. Six shot off his artillery, then quickly another, then another, killing over half of the intruders.
Just as a fairy went towards the brothers, a black phoenix Wade recognized as Nash, swooped in to help them. Justice shouted, “Destrain, force field around Ollie and the others now! Just around them."
Destrain flicked his hand towards the Santorini foxes, saying, "I thought we didn't want to do this."
Before Justice could explai
n, Nash opened his mouth and let out a sonic blast loud enough to explode all that were in front of him, including the fairy trying to get to the brothers. He then flew close to the portal and did another sonic blast. It seemed to have some kind of effect, from the screams everyone could hear coming from inside, then suddenly the portal flickered and disappeared.
Thunder cracked from above and lightning lit the air once more as another portal was seen to be opening, seconds later a green man with platinum blond hair, a little smaller than Rune, stood on the roof.
Six gasped, "Who the fuck is that? Son of a bitch he's hot, even if he is green."
Destrain snarled, "That's Fallon."
"Well hello, Destrain, long time no see. Is that Dain I see with you? I've missed you, my sweet," Fallon said with a laugh.
Dain went to move, but Kerrick held him back, whispering, "He wants your reaction. Don't give it to him."
Illan stepped forward, snarling, "You're not wanted here, Fallon. Go back to your realm and leave us in peace."
Fallon laughed an evil laugh that would normally send chills down a person's spine, but for Wade, it just pissed him off. Fallon looked at Suneth at that very moment. "You have something I want, Lizard man. You have until tomorrow at sundown. If I don't have the stone in my hand, everyone in Crystal will die. Starting with your mate."
The portal began to swirl as Fallon shouted, "Everyone come!"
Suddenly Fallon and all the enemy vanished through the remaining portal.
"What do we do now? I can't give him the stone, Illan," Suneth replied.
Shaking his head, Illan said, "No one expects you to, Suneth."
"Besides he couldn't if he wanted to, because no one knows who has it," Rune said, making his way to his mates as Nick and his men joined Day and his guys to see who they might be able to help.
"That was a good idea, but not so much if he tries to kill every gargoyle to get it. We need to know who has it," Justice quickly replied.
"You can't give him the jewel, Suneth. He is bad enough without it, imagine what will happen if you give it to him," Nelson insisted.
Suneth went to Nelson. He and his brothers had already shifted back and dressed. Taking the young man's shoulder, Suneth quietly said, "We are going to do everything we can not to let Fallon get his hands on the jewel, Nelson, but I also have to look out for my mate and the people of Crystal."
