The dragons all rose up in unison from their hiding spots. A sand dragon rose up from directly under the celestial gnome, biting the gnome in half, before quickly diving back under the dirt with the lower half of the Gnome in its mouth. Distracted and in pain, the gnome fell to the ground, blood spewing forth wildly. The attack was no doubt enough to kill the gnome, but they wanted him to suffer, needed him to suffer.
Derick could feel the dead dragon’s feelings all climbing back to him, knowing that this dragon wasn’t the female, but was the male dragon that would fertilize the eggs. He was the Patriarch of the dragons, the protector of the species, yet even after the entire city of Atlantica and all celestial gnomes had been destroyed the patriarch’s wrath had never been satiated. Instead the patriarch finally found his way here, to the dungeon of the Inbetween, a place where he was neither part of the land of the underworld, nor part of the living.
Finally after centuries of solitude, a female once again chose to mate with him, and he let her down. He felt the feed of power going from his mate to their brood begin to sever, then separate permanently. With that he saw his mate convulsing with pain, her much larger frame stuck in spasms of pain as the children, his children, were being slaughtered one by one. Then Derick saw the final attack spiral of the male Patriarch, Derick saw the beats come forward, until he saw the bones of the celestial gnome that had the soul stains of his children on his soul. It was then that he realized that the desecration of Atlantica, even after the death of such a foe caused this, and caused a moment of fear to fill his brain. He ducked away from the pile of bones, trying to avoid the vengeful spirit, knowing that an avenging demon could not be stopped. Then the world went black as pain, PAIN filled his mind, then nothing.
Derick awoke from the vision, to see a number of things, the first was that there was a massive rumbling somewhere coming from high above, not wanting to repeat the follies of a past incarnation. Derick quickly grabbed everything he could from the Dragon’s corpse that appeared from the loot drop pop-up box. Derick didn’t even look at the items instead taking everything, then quickly dove out of the nest and slid down the hill until he has close to chasm wall. Derick was moderately sure that this was the far? The near wall? From where he came.
“It is the far wall, but might I suggest going towards that cavern, Master?” HAIL suggested. Before Derick had a chance to ask which cavern, a marker appeared on Derick’s mental map. Derick quickly engaged levitation not letting himself get too high off the ground, but used the ability to make it easier to avoid possible obstructions or uneven ground as he sprinted toward the cave marked by HAIL. Derick got to the cave, engaged Stealth, then took a few steps forward into the seemingly empty cave then waited.
Derick felt the whole chasm shake as a massive beast came in from high above firing blue bursts of flame all over the chasm floor. No doubt hoping to burn Derick if he was still there, does this mean she doesn’t see me, or know where I am? Derick not wanting to tempt fate began following the cave to the very back, his Dark Vision lighting the way from him. Finally he got three turns in and could not even see the light coming from chasm floor.

“Master. I know I have asked many times, but now that you are a portal sage, could we please get out of here?” HAIL asked.
Sage? Derick thought, then looked over the last combat log.

Then Derick saw the saw the blue pop-up of a power up. Not wanting to tempt fate, Derick accessed his Celestial Vision Skill, and looked for a place to travel to. Mentally Derick disregarded anywhere near Argos and Draco, as he needed a minute to rest. Derick chose the blue ocean planet Triton, quickly found an area that was far way from civilization or monsters, then enacted correspondence on a disused portion of air and traded places with the air. In a second Derick could feel formula and algorithms flooding through his mind, this was a process that should take at least a minute, but was performed almost instantaneously. Derick looked up at the open sky above him, and took in his first breath of true air. Thought Derick didn’t need to breath, it still held a calming effect for him, no doubt his mind still mentally equated breathing to relaxing.
“Congratulations. You are now officially out of the tutorial setting.” HAIL said, in a genuinely jovial tone.

Derick looked at his quest rewards and was shocked to see that he was offered experience and one respawn for finding all three rare professions trainers. Then a second reward box stated how he received ano
ther respawn,a pair of pants that added to his perception, and experience for unlocking a rare profession.
Then one extra respawn, a set of rings that offered aether and umbra resistances 50% respectively for obtaining a master profession level in portals. Then one extra respawn for becoming the first sage in a starting profession which offered robes of the sage portalist, robes that offered +10 to Perception, Willpower, Wisdom, Intelligence, and Luck.
Additionally Derick got two other respawns, one for completely killing off a nest of dragons and a second for killing the dragon patriarch. In all Derick was looking at six additional respawns, some really nice gear, and his first clear night sky since he had been evacuated from Zapopan. Derick had so may questions, he needed to have so many questions clarified, but in the end all Derick did was lie down his head and rest. With the sudden influx of knowledge and data, Derick was surrounded by a blanket of white energy, a mental blanket to which Derick quickly surrendered.
