I nodded, fighting a grin when his irises brightened with emotion. “Are you?”
His eyes slid shut and he pressed his forehead to mine with a sigh. “Yes.” He erased the space between our mouths and captured my lips in a heated kiss. “Happier than I ever thought possible, little bird.”
Our lips refused to separate as Bren moved toward the lake again, my body tingling with anticipation for what was to come. Still, I couldn’t help counting. Only a handful of feet stood between us and the beckoning water.
“You’re my everything,” I whispered against his mouth, even as I finished the countdown.
Three, two . . .
One.

First, I just want to take a second to breathe. Wow, this trilogy has been a whirlwind of sweat and tears, joy and laughter. When I first started it, I had no idea what I was doing. I just knew there was a story inside my head that wanted out. I had no intention of pouring so many of my fears and desires into the characters, letting them struggle the human condition and become stronger for it. To be honest, I’m jealous of them. They are so much better at taking action than I am, at facing their fears and making their dreams become reality. In many ways, they’re the ones teaching me.
I thank God every day for free will. It is a gift to make our own choices, to fail and try again. Our decisions define who we are, and I’m thankful for the endless opportunities God has given me, especially the ability to write. It has been such a lifeline to me the last couple of years, an escape from my overactive mind and an experience akin to freedom.
I want to thank my loyal friends, family, street team, writing buddies, and readers who made this journey far from lonely. Your excitement and support means more to me than words can express. You are the reason why I fought so hard to make this story as epic as possible. Hopefully I succeeded. A special shoutout to my best friend, Melissa McMurry, for being there since day one. And last but not least, I want to thank #teamelitebanana. I am extremely lucky to have you all in my life. Love you, guys!
