Bloodwood Academy Shifter: Semester Two (Bloodwood Year One Book 2) Page 20

“And here I was thinking that using magic to win a fight was against the rules.” I screwed up my face in a challenge, but this time it was Howl who responded, wincing as he tried to shrug his shoulders.

“We are past that. Now, we use what we have to defeat him. All of us…”

“Or just me,” I cut him off, wolf pressing against my sternum as I took a deep breath. “It’s my duty to stand up for my pack. For my mate.”

I was firm, determined, thankfully he didn’t look away. He stared at me, jaw tight, eyes angry.

Although at that time I was sure the anger wasn’t for me.

“Okay,” I nodded. “I kill the bastard. But then I am tracking down my parents. This is their mess, I’ll be damned if they leave me to clean it up without them.”

“They owe you allowance at least,” Scarlet said with a roll of her eyes.

I didn’t have the heart to tell her that I never got that anyway.

  “Sounds like a--”

“Ivy!” Tommy’s voice echoed down the halls, rippling off stone as his footsteps vibrated through the caves. “Ivy!”

We were all on our feet in an instant, my muscles tight as my magic pulsed through them, ready to face whatever enemy that demon brought down here.

Why the fuck was he bringing them down here anyway? The demon pressured Pater’s guys without a second thought. But now--

“Ivy!” he screamed again, his voice clearly panicked as he busted through the shadows and into the dimly lit cave.

He was terrified, his eyes wide, hands shaking as he scanned the room for me. I couldn’t even move as he rushed me, looking as anxiety-ridden and pathetic as he had that day on the mountaintop when he had seen Howl for the first time.

“Ivy! Ivy! Ivy!” the guy was delusional, grabbing at my hands like I was going to save him or some shit. Nope, this fucker was on his own.

The only reason he was still around was because he had saved our asses. That’s it. Nothing else, no matter how hard he tried to convince me otherwise.

No matter how scared he looked.

“What did you do?” I asked, dodging his fumbling fingers as another set of steps thundered down the cave after him, the steps firm, heavy, and angry.

Everyone was staring at the door, animals growling, magic buzzing, teeth bared, as we waited for whatever had scared the fucking demon.

In a fuming mass of hair, a woman burst right into our cavern, stomped her way right up to Tommy and punched him so hard on the jaw that he fell to the ground. He didn’t even try to turn to smoke, he fell like a sack of potatoes.

A whimpering, whining sack of potatoes that cowered at my feet, pleading for what I could only assume was forgiveness.

“You fucking demon. You thought you could get away with that? Bastard!” she yelled, hair flailing around her as she kicked him right in the groin. “Thief,” another kick. “I should have known better than to trust a demon.”

I looked up to the woman as she flipped her hair behind her, sighing and fixing me with eyes the same color as my own. A jaw like my own.

  I didn’t even recognize her.

I couldn’t. Not without the food stains and the pock-marked skin and bloodshot eyes.

“Mama?” Why were my eyes burning? My eyes should not be burning. My chest cracked open and then slammed shut, scared to reveal my heart.

“Sorry, I’m late, honey,” she sighed with another flip of her hair. “This guy seems to think he could keep you to himself. Now, who do we have to kill?”

  What.

  The.

  Fuck?

I knew he was missing before I opened my eyes.

My wolf was whining, my heart aching, and the spot at the foot of the bed that he normally curled up into was growing a bit cold.

Sitting up slowly, I peered through the dark, my eyes narrowing toward the sliver of light that was seeping underneath the door to the bathroom.

I had insisted we all stayed in Saxon’s keep for Halloween, and waking up in the middle of the night, with only one sliver of light to light my way. Because that wasn’t creepy at all.

“He’s been up for a few minutes,” Saxon whispered through the dark, nodding to the light before returning to his book. “As restless as he has been lately I am surprised he slept at all.

At least I wasn’t the only one who had noticed how off Howl had been.

Saxon remained focused on his book as I stood, wiggling my way off the bed and padding toward the bathroom.

The door didn’t even creak as I slid my way into the brightly lit space, a wall of steam hitting me in the face. I could barely even see the running shower through the thick swirls of white, if it wasn’t for the incessant whining of my wolf pulling me forward I might have thought the place was haunted.

“Howl?” I asked as softly as I could, still padding my way towards him.

There was no answer and my heart skipped a beat.

“Howl?” I said again, closer now, the running water louder with each step. Still no answer.

Another step. Louder water. Louder heart, I could hear it in my ears now.

“Howl?” My voice was shaking, my heart was shaking, even my hand was shaking as I reach forward, hands curling around the shower curtain as I pulled it back.

I stared at the floor, looking for red, for blood, for some horrified death mask contorted on the floor.

There was only steam, so much steam.

“Howl?” Everything shook as my question turned into a scream, hands emerging from the steam to wrap around my forearms and pull me into the shower, clothes and all.

Hot water stung my skin, it burned as it soaked my shirt and ran down my back in ribbons. Burning, scorching flesh threatened to pull away from bone as those hands ran down my arms, over my abdomen, and lifted my shirt, whipping it over my head with a flourish that sent the steam swirling and revealing the strong jaw and perfect hairline of my shifter mate.

I let out a low exhale, grateful that he wasn’t some kind of monster.

‘I heard that,’ his voice rumbled through my mind as he pressed his lips to mine.

“You scared me,” I whispered back, trailing my own kisses over his jaw as he flicked my nipple and trailed his finger tips down the underwear I had slept in, his thumbs hooking in the red lace.

Oh no, I knew where this was going.

“Don’t! I really li--” Too late, he ripped the underwear in two, pulling it from my body and letting it hit the tile floor with the tiniest whisper of noise.

“I’ll buy you new ones…” he whispered, planting a line of kisses over my jaw as he moved closer, his naked body pressing against my now bared one. “You are the one who came in here, what did you think would happen, Ivy?”

He was smirking, the stretch of his smile vanishing as the steam began to choke the air again. He was right in front of me, his hands running over me in a touch that was increasing the temperature to a boiling that I was sure was inside as well as out.

“Is that why you were in here?” I said, trying my damndest to hide my smile while hooding my eyes and pressing my pelvis against his. I could feel him grow and pulse against my belly. “Were you just hoping that the distant sound of water would make me need to pee and the call of the wild would bring me to you?”

“You make it sound so dirty when you say it like that.”

My face screwed up, “Well, it is dirty.”

And not in the sexy way, but I wasn’t going to add that.
He was looking too damn sexy, with those sultry eyes, and the quirky half smile, and his hands that were dragging lower over my back… cupping my ass.

His fingers ran down my crack, gently ticking the flesh as he moved closer and closer to the opening that pulsing with a need for him.

  Need.

  Want.

God, my pussy was as wet as the rest of me.

  As hot.

“What do you want?” I stupidly asked as the steam began to fill the air again, coating me with another layer of wet.

Howl chuckled darkly in my ear, pressing himself against me as his fingers softly ran up and down my crack.

  “I want everything.”

Water ran over everything as he lifted me, pressing my against him as he cradled my ass in his hands, his fingers spreading my lips as he opened me to him. As he lowered me gently, the head of his cock pushing into me.

  Pressing into,

  Spreading me wide.

“Ung. God, Howl.” I always forgot how big he was until it was just him fucking me. Just him spreading through me.

“My wolf,” he nipped at my ear as he lowered me against him more, his cock moving deeper. Deeper. “Mine.”

He bottomed out, his massive staff so deep that I could feel every inch of it. Feel it in my belly between us as he held me.

“Always.” I pressed my lips to his, my tongue dragging against his lips as I prodded them open, pressing my tongue into his mouth. He captured it, deepening the kiss as his cock twitched. His fingers dug into the soft flesh of my ass as he lifted and lowered me onto him. His grip increasing as his pace did, his hands hard points of pressure as the pleasure grew.

  And he went faster.

  Faster.

And stopped, his breath was as hot as the steam, as hot as the water as he heaved in my ear.

“You are so tight, my wolf. I could cum right here, just feeling you.”

“Not yet.” The whimper of my wolf was clear in voice as I pleaded.
