Her Beach Bum (Man Card Book 7)

by Terra Kelly

After the trip I never made my way up to her floor for deliveries. I assigned two other people for the job. It was lonely in the basement, but I just wasn’t in the mood to deal with people who liked to judge. After about two months with that routine, I found a different job. It was good to make a fresh start. I didn’t go to the hospital much. Sasha usually met me somewhere or I would just wait for her in the lobby.

“Sure.” I rocked her side to side. “Should I come up and get you?”

“What?” She looked shocked by my question.

Leslie had mentioned in passing one night that I should make an appearance at the hospital. He made a good point, too. I was different now. When I left for The Bahamas I was insecure and nervous. The trip changed me. Sasha changed me. Now we spent every weekend at the beach and just yesterday we talked about renting a house by the beach. Maybe Leslie was right, it was time to go up and get my girl the right way.

“I just know you’re busy and so it would be easier if I went up to your floor.” It was fun watching her expressions. “Don’t look at me like that.” I bent and kissed her shocked look off her face. “It’s been six months. They’ve forgotten about that Joey from months ago.”

“That’s true.” She grabbed the donut from my hand. “Now they just ask about my man and what beach we’re going to this weekend.”

“Then it’s settled. I will pick you up at noon.” I bent and stole a bite from the donut in her hand. “Don’t be late.” I swatted her ass as I walked away.

A small part of me was nervous to see the nurses again. Then the other part of me realized it was time to move on. That was the past.

“Excuse me,” I leaned my elbows on the counter at the nurses’ station. “Is Sasha available.”

There was one nurse sitting typing away on the keyboard. “She’s getting supplies.” The woman didn’t raise her head at first. Finally she stopped typing and looked up at me. “Um, oh.” Her eyes went wide and she leaned back in her chair. “She should be back in just a few minutes.” The woman continued to stare at me. “You look familiar.”

“I get that a lot.” Instead of mentioning my name, I decided to go find Sasha. I knew where the supply room was located because I had delivered several boxes. “Thank you.” I slapped my hand on the counter and walked away.

“Wait.” I stopped but didn’t turn around. “Joey. Right?”

So much for trying to avoid this conversation. I turned to face the woman. “Yes.” Then I turned back and attempted to make my way to the supply room.

“Holy shit.” She paused. “No, really, holy shit.” I was starting to regret my decision to pick her up. “Wow.” I turned my head and watched her as she shook her head and started typing again. Thankfully she was done and I could carry on.

Right as I reached the supply room, Sasha was stepping out. I quickly stopped her before she closed the door behind her. “You’re not done.” I teased and pushed her back into the room.

“Well, hi to you, too.” She giggled and walked backwards into the room. “This is a greeting I could get used to.”

I wrapped my arms around her waist and pushed her body up against the door. There was a small window but it was covered by paper, so anyone walking by would not see us going at it. “The nurse at the desk recognized me.” I bent and left a trail of kisses up her neck.

“Is that bad?” She turned her head to the side for better access.

“I don’t know.” That was the truth, too. I wasn’t for sure how I felt at the moment.

“Well, I’m excited she did because it will be fun to see her jealous whenever I talk about you.” She placed her hands on my chest and started to make small circles with her fingers around the outline of my nipples through the shirt. “What is it you always tell me? That was the past.”

I pulled her up into my arms and she wrapped her legs tightly around my waist. “Is it wrong that I loved looking at the expression on her face when she realized who I was?”

“Not at all.” She bent and kissed me. Our tongues touched and I knew we were about to christen this room. I had to have her, all of her. “You’re beautiful inside and out. You know that, right?” I peppered light kisses down her jawline. “This new look doesn’t change the man I actually fell for all those months ago.”

“How did I get so lucky?” I leaned back and stared at the woman that had changed my life.

“You had the balls to organize a trip The Bahamas.” She combed her hands through my hair. “You didn’t have to prove anything or be anyone. You just knew what you wanted.”

“And now I want something else.” I squeezed her ass cheeks and wiggled my eyebrows.
