Intrigued: The Dark Christmases Page 12

by Arkadie, Z. L.

“So how did this happen?” I asked.

“What do you mean?” he asked

“You left the ballroom with Dale to have a cigar and a talk, but you got here shortly after I did. I figured a conversation about the Carmichael Trust would last longer than that.”

He chuckled. “You’re always fishing, aren’t you?”

I was fishing. “I’m not fishing.”

“Yes, you are. But it’s okay. I like that about you. I knew he worked on the case against the Carmichael Trust, but I had no questions. I wanted to get him away from you.”

I nestled myself deeper into his embrace, happy he’d admitted what I had suspected. “What was Dale doing there in the first place? Are he and Bryn still friends?”

  “He was never Bryn’s friend.”

“But he used to always come to our dorm to see her. They would spend the night together too.”

Jasper’s body tensed up against me. After a few beats, he said, “Dale is Asher’s friend.”

I shook my head. “No. He used to come to our dorm room at least twice a week to see Bryn. They’d go to her bedroom and stay in there for hours.”

He grunted thoughtfully. “Is that so?”

  “You didn’t know?” I asked.

  “No, I didn’t.”

Damn it, I hoped I hadn’t gotten Bryn in trouble with her eldest brother, who was certainly the master of all of their universes.

“Listen, I just don’t want you talking to that guy,” Jasper said. “Understand?” He was back to being controlling again, which turned me off just as much as it turned me on.

“Why do you say that? Is he dangerous or something?”

  “He likes you.”

Something inside me wanted to test our potential for a relationship that went beyond my stay at the Christmas mansion. “Well, I won’t be single for all my life. And he’s cute and kind of successful too,” I said, even though I still suspected Dale was the one who had been banging Bryn before the party.

Jasper ground against me so hard with his deflated cock that he lifted my hips off the bed. Then he held me so close and tight that I winced.

“I don’t understand why you care what I do when I leave here,” I said breathlessly.

“What do you want from me, Holly?”

My heart skipped a beat, happy he’d referred to me by my first name. “What do you want from me? You’re the one who snuck into my room last night and then directed me to this bed this morning, not to mention what we did in your office. You’ve been running our show, Jasper.”

  “You could’ve said no.”

  I closed my eyes tightly. “You’re wrong. I couldn’t.”

“I wasn’t going to force you to do anything you didn’t want to do.”

“I know,” I whispered. “I wanted to do it. I can’t stop doing it with you.”

Silence fell between us. I expected Jasper to release me and make an excuse to send me away. Instead, he planted a tender kiss on my shoulder. “I didn’t expect this either,” he said. “I don’t…”

I waited for him to finish whatever he was going to say. It soon became apparent he wasn’t going to do that.

  “You don’t what?” I asked.

“I have a lot of fucking obligations, Holly.”

I recalled his conversation with Arthur Valentine. “What sort of obligations?”

Even though he had nothing to say, the tension in his body spoke loudly. I wondered if I should mention Arthur Valentine. There was no way to do it without lying or admitting I’d been exploring their secret passages. However, it was the first time since we’d begun our little rendezvous that Jasper had been so open with me. Now was the time to milk him for all I could.

“Are you still thinking about running for president in the election? I mean, first you have to get past the primaries, but I’m sure you have people who can help you with that?”

I noticed even more tightness in his body.

“I moved to California four months ago. I’m in LA.” He sighed. “Sometimes, I hate those fucking people. But it’s only envy. They walk around as if they don’t have a care in the world. Stuck in traffic, and everybody looks so fucking calm behind the wheel. Even when they’re enraged, they look calm. What is that?”

  “That’s experience,” I said.

  “Experience?”

“It’s car culture.” I snorted. “And the constant sunshine. I promise, it really affects their mood, takes the edge off.”

“If that’s it, then I’m waiting for the sun to work on me.”

  “Then you’re on edge?”

After a moment, he ground against me with a fresh hard-on. “Damn it, baby. I’m rising again.”

I moaned from pleasure. “I know. I can feel it.”

“I also want to tell you…” He sighed. His hardening dick shifted in and out of me.

“Tell me what?” I asked breathlessly.

“I want you to be careful.”

“Careful about what?” Damn, he felt so good inside me.

  “Bryn.”

My eyes popped open. “Why are you warning me about Bryn?”

“She’s angry. Beyond angry, actually.” He was really concerned about her. I could hear it in his tone.

“It sounds as though you’re afraid of how she’ll direct her anger.”

His silence was thoughtful. “She’s hard to pin down.”

I didn’t agree. I thought Bryn was quite simple to figure out. However, that didn’t discount his concerns.

“Umm.” Jasper tenderly kissed my shoulder. His strokes were deep and indulgent. The closeness we were sharing was sending flutters of something that felt a lot like love through my heart. I would be a fool to allow myself to believe that what we were doing could lead to anything substantial. We were making love, not in love. I also had to remind myself that I couldn’t get so rooted in the good time I was having with Jasper that I forgot what I’d agreed to do for Bryn.

Another sigh escaped me. “So what do you think she’s capable of?” I asked breathlessly.

“Shit,” he whispered and quickly pulled his dick out of me. Once he let go of me, I turned to face him. Jasper smoothed locks of hair away from my face. “Just be careful.” Then he flipped over and lay on his back. “I hate to warn you about Bryn now. I don’t want you to think I’m trying to manipulate and control you.”

I rolled my eyes. “Don’t worry about me. It takes more than fucking me to control me.”

He frowned then quickly wiped the expression off his face. “Is that what you think we’re doing? Just fucking?”

Is he really asking me that? I smirked. “What do you call it?”

  “Fucking, but…”

  “But?”

  “I like you.”

  “You don’t know me.”

He lay on his side, propping up his head as he fondled one of my breasts, gently pinching the nipple. “You’re intellectually curious.”

I shrugged indifferently. “That’s not hard to figure out.”

Jasper smirked. “It gets me hard, though. Also, you’re smart as fucking hell. You read a person before you start questioning them. You’re good at it. You know what to say and what not to say to your target. That’s why I had to get Spencer away from you.”

I gasped as I was struck by illumination. “You were in the cabinet earlier, weren’t you? You heard what was happening between us.”

“I was.” He stopped stimulating my breast with his fingers and sucked as much of it as he could into his mouth. I sighed as he bit my nipple then gently kissed my lips. When he spoke, his tone was full of passion. “I have to admit you got me hot when you promised to sit on Spencer’s dick, but I knew you had just spoken with Gina and she enlightened you on some things about my brother.”

Admitting that I made him hot when I offered to sit on Spencer’s dick made me horny.

I snickered. “Did making my blouse into a rope clue you in?”

Jasper put his hand at the b
ack of my head and guided my mouth toward his. “At some point, I’m going to need you to make one of those ropes, tie up my hands, and sit on my dick,” he whispered with our lips nearly touching.

I burst out in laughter. At first, he smiled, seemingly charmed by my reaction to his request, but then he chuckled.

“I guess I was really convincing,” I said. “I’ve never done anything like that in my life.”

“Good, because I can’t imagine some guy getting to have that sort of experience with you. But…” He smirked naughtily.

  “But what?”

“I want you to give me a present for Christmas.”

I narrowed an eye. “A present?”

  “Yeah, a present.”

  JASPER WALKER CHRISTMAS

Holy shit, her pussy was tight. Holly sat on his dick, rapidly shifting her hips back and forth, intending to milk him dry. Jasper could hardly handle it. He wanted to pull her against him and eat those perfect tits of hers while blood rushed through his manhood, making it throb. But he’d let her use two of his neckties to fasten his hands to the headboard. He couldn’t touch her, and that frustrated the hell out of him.

“Damn, your pussy is special, baby.” He sounded like a bitch, but he didn’t care. He squeezed his eyes tight, gritting his teeth. He was too excited. “Oh!” he yelled, fighting the urge to let go. The pleasure soaring through his dick should’ve been illegal. Jasper thought a man could get addicted to fucking Holly. It was easy to get hooked on her sex.

Faster she shifted his dick in and out of her wet, warm snugness. Then he couldn’t hold it in any longer. Jasper gasped and whited out as his balls tightened and orgasm soared through his dick. One of his arms broke free of its restraint. Jasper grabbed Holly and pulled her against him as he finished coming.

“I’m not done with you,” Jasper said with his lips against her ears. His dick thought otherwise, though, at least for the night.

  “You liked that?” she asked.

“More than you can ever know,” he said with a sigh, bathing in the afterglow of enjoyable sex.

Holly lowered her face to kiss him. Her lips were soft, and her tongue sweet. She was a sensual kisser, and every time they did it, his head got dizzy. Why the hell did he feel that way? Holly Henderson was beguiling. She had seduced him into having strong feelings for her, and he’d never seen it coming.

Jasper pictured Dale kissing her the same as he was kissing her then, and that made him sink his tongue deeper into her delicious mouth. He wanted his tongue to reach down her throat and taste her soul. He wanted her lips to merge with his. He wanted…

“Shit!” he yelled at the top of his lungs, angry that is was over. His dick wouldn’t get hard again for a while. He had pushed it to its limit.

“I think I should untie your other hand.” She said with a sensual chuckle as she stretched across him, putting her perfect tits in his face. Surprisingly, his dick was actually starting to respond. Jasper wouldn’t get one hundred percent hard, but pretty soon, he could be firm enough to experience her tightness yet again. The possibility excited the hell out of him. He gripped her torso and sucked on her nipple as she untied him. He sucked hard, wanting to eat her alive. She hissed, which told him she liked how that felt. When his hand was free, Holly sat her drenched pussy on top of his soft dick again, and her mouth found his.

They kissed and kissed and rolled all over the bed, kissing and touching. Her lips were pillowy soft. He swore kissing them was just as good as sex. Then he was firm enough to slip inside her for another round of fucking her perfect pussy.

  Chapter Seventeen

  December 24th

I slowly opened my eyes. The room was filled with bright light. But I knew it had nothing to do with a sun that was hidden behind clouds. It was the glare of the snow shining in through the window. I was alone in bed, but the night before, I’d slept in Jasper’s arms. I sat up.

“Jasper?” When there was no answer, I called his name again louder. I waited for his response, but there wasn’t one.

Once again, I felt cheap as I swung my legs across the mattress and sat on the side of the bed. I had to gather my bearings and not forget what I had planned for the day. It was Christmas Eve, so I had to get to the UPS Store early. Without further delay, I put on my clothes from the previous night and hurried out of the guesthouse.

As the cold morning air mugged me, I used its uncomfortable feeling to help me forget about my night spent with Jasper Christmas. He hadn’t even waited around to look at me in the morning. What a way to send a message.

I went up the path that had been lit for me last night. The mansion loomed in the short distance. However, I squinted at what I ascertained were flashing lights casting their beams against the walls.

My mouth fell open. “What the…” I couldn’t look away from the ambulance.

Just as I had the previous morning, I returned to my bedroom without being seen. The energy of what was going on in the house was palpable. Something was happening with Randolph Christmas. I quickly I took off the dress I’d worn last night and put on long spandex workout pants, a T-shirt, a zip-up hoodie, and running shoes. I hurried to the bathroom to wash off the remnants of last night’s makeup then tied my hair into a ponytail.

“There,” I said, looking in the mirror. Appearing as if I’d gone out jogging that morning was the perfect cover.

  “Where were you last night?”

I jumped and saw Bryn standing in the doorway of the bathroom through the reflection in the mirror. I quickly turned to face her.

“Hey,” I said in a consoling tone.

Her face was patchy red, and the skin beneath her eyes was puffy. “Where were you?”

  “I went to the party.”

“I know. I saw you, but then you were gone.”

“Yeah, well… I’m working for you. Remember?”

She crossed her arms. “So what were you doing for me?”

My eyes narrowed as I detected a hint of sass in her tone. “Do you know your house has secret hallways?”

“What?” She looked as though that were the most ridiculous thing she’d ever heard.

  “Wow. You don’t know?”

“Secret hallways? Where? Please show me.”

  I nodded. “Come with me.”

Her hand came down on my shoulder as I passed her. I stopped in my tracks.

“You’re not fucking Jasper, are you?”

My mouth was caught open. I didn’t want to lie. “No,” I finally said.

“You’re lying. Were you with him last night?”

It felt as if the air left the room and the space between us diminished. I hated lying to her and didn’t want to do it again.

  “Yes,” I whispered.

“I told you to stay away from him.”

  “I know.”

“I knew he was attracted to you.” She shook her head. “Come. Let’s sit.”

I followed Bryn to the high-backed chairs. We both sat, keeping our gazes on each other.

“The only thing Jasper can do for you, Holls, is hurt you.”

I closed my eyes gravely. “I know that.”

  “Do you?”

  “Yes.”

  “Why are your eyes closed?”

  I quickly opened them. “I don’t know.”

“Yes, you do. Do you love him?”

I shook my head. “I just met him two days ago. I can’t be in love with him already.”

“Most people can’t, but you can. It’s how you’re built.”

I frowned, wondering what the hell she meant by that.

“You’re all in, or you’re not in at all. We have that in common.”

“Speaking of being in love”—I sat up straight, figuring there was no better time to question her about her sexual escapades—"yesterday, while I was exploring the hidden hallways, I heard you in your bedroom. You told someone you loved him. Was it Dale?”
/>   Bryn folded her arms and watched me with a frown. “You heard me?”

“Yes, I did. And you told me you weren’t involved with anyone.”

  She pursed her lips.

“Was it Dale Rumor? Jasper seems to believe that he was Asher’s friend during your college years, but I specifically recall the two of you fucking and doing so loudly.”

We were engaging in an epic staredown. I was on the verge of looking away first. I knew better than to win that sort of battle, not when I needed Bryn to give me more information so that I could do an effective job for her. In order for that to happen, I couldn’t put her on the defense. She had to remain on the offense.

“Dale and I are seeing each other.”

I cleared my throat and readjusted in my seat. “And Jasper doesn’t know, does he?”

  “No.”

“And Dale’s the one that told you there was something going on between Jasper and I?”

“Yes, he did. And you talking to Dale infuriated Jasper.”

“Yeah, well, I don’t understand why you would keep the fact that you’re in a relationship with Dale from Jasper.”

  She sighed sharply. “Because…”

I waited for her to finish, but I could feel the angst emanating from her body. “You can tell me, Bryn. Come on. I’m on your side, here.”

“Are you?” she roared, throttling her hands. “Because you’re fucking the one person who—”

I scooted to the edge of my seat. “The one person who?” I asked leadingly.

She tugged at her hair then flopped back in her seat. “I’m supposed to marry someone else.”

I jerked my head back. “Who?”

“I can’t tell you, but it’s not Dale. And so is Jasper. He’s spoken for, Holls.”

I squeezed my eyes shut and shook my head rapidly. I could not believe what I’d just heard. “He’s spoken for?” I was barely able to ask.

“I don’t know with who, but our family has debts.”

  “What kind of debts?”
