Say My Name Page 37

by R K Knightly

When they finally reached home, Elle quickly went upstairs to wash off her layer of makeup. Without it onstage, she looked washed out. She put on the minimum required to look decent, but that was by far still too much for her. Besides, wearing makeup when you had two babies throwing strained peas and applesauce was a pointless endeavor. It would be like wearing your underwear on the outside of your jeans.

“Are you ready?” Liam asked, his cobalt eyes sparkling merrily.

“Absolutely,” she told him and made sure the baby monitors were all on before heading downstairs to give them to Colleen and Blake. They were watching TV on low, Blake rubbing Colleen’s protruding stomach with soft caresses.

“Some woman from LA wanted to sign Elle to a record deal,” Liam told them in soft tones.

“What?” Colleen had never moved so fast into a sitting position since becoming pregnant with her little girl.

“Jesus, Col,” Liam griped. “The kids are asleep. Inside voice, please.”

  “Shit, shit, shit! Sorry!”

“What did you say?” Blake asked, looking over at Elle.

“I said no, of course,” she told him, holding back a scoff.

“Oh.” Blake looked back at the TV, seemingly uninterested.

“Oh?” Colleen gave him some serious side eye. “Our little Elle gets a bona fide offer from a recording studio and all you have to say is oh?”

“What do you want?” Blake shrugged. “She said no, so it’s a moot point. But good on ya, kid.” He winked at Elle before turning his eyes back to the television.

“You’re a stranger to me sometimes, Blake,” Colleen muttered, crossing her arms over her large belly.

“Good,” he said. “It’ll be like losing your virginity all over again later tonight.”

Colleen rolled her eyes before putting a hand out to Elle to grab the baby monitors.

“Just for that you get dirty diaper duty tonight,” Colleen told Blake. “It’ll take me a month to get up the stairs. By the time the dookie fairy gets her fat ass there, Arsen will have leaked through onto the sheets. That kid has some serious toilet moments coming in his teen years.” She looked at Elle and Liam, her brow drawn up. “Good luck with that by the way.”

  “Jesus,” Liam muttered. “You ready?”

“Yup,” Elle replied with a grin.

The two of them walked out the back of their home and toward the tree line. The cool night hair ruffled their hair as they stepped behind a set of trees to the north of the underground cells. It was their favorite place to shift with a nice low branch for Elle to place her clothing on for after their shift.

It had become tradition after the twins were born that they shifted every Friday evening together. It let their wolves commune with nature and each other. The adrenaline from Elle’s performance wreaked havoc on her nerves, and there was nothing as relaxing as letting her true nature come forth. They swam, they mated. During the winter time their jaunts weren’t as playful, but sometimes they hunted together, Liam always feeling the need to catch the largest buck he could for them to dine on. They shared his kill and came back stuffed to the gills with fresh venison.

“Ready?” Liam asked as he stripped out of his boxers, the last bit of his clothing to go.

  “Ready.”

She looked back at him. He was her second and truest chance at happiness. Through every hardship, ever faltering step, she never once regretted meeting the man that showed her true love and unending happiness existed.

She hoped their Friday night shifts never came to an end.

  Acknowledgements

A hearty thank you goes out to my hubby who had to deal with my irritable ass and the fact that I ignored him anytime I was "in the zone" with one of my books. I probably agreed to a lot of things I will regret later on, but thank you for being patient when I ignored whatever idea or suggestion you tried to float past me while in my own little world of the supernatural.

To all my amazing readers on Wattpad, Inkitt, Dreame, and Patreon, thank you for your encouragement and kind words, and especially thank you to my subscribers on Patreon for believing in me and putting a few bucks in my pocket to help me get this far.

Thanks to Beth and Sara for editing help on my works. Lord knows self-publishing is difficult and I couldn't have done this without you!

And finally, thank you Mrs. Michaels, my second-grade teacher. I should have listened to you years ago. P.S. - I got better at drawing at some point and now my stick figures have boobs. Love you!

  About the Author

R.K. Knightly is a pen name for a civil servant based in the San Francisco-Bay area. Born in New Jersey, she moved to California in 2007 with her husband, a San Francisco native.

First interested in poetry from a young age, she wrote her first short story in second grade. it was a little mystery/thriller she drew the pictures for. Her teacher, Mrs. Michaels, told her mother that she should think about writing as a career, though she should probably look into hiring an illustrator for the art work. Ms. Knightly took journalism classes throughout high school and creative writing courses in college.

A lover of all genres of books from autobiographies to sci-fi, Ms. Knightly started writing erotic romance in early 2018. After a few months and two books, she came up with an idea for an erotic supernatural romance which has become popular on the Dreame app. Now she splits her time between the two genres, though her most popular works on Dreame are her supernatural novels.

In her spare time outside of writing, Ms. Knightly spends times with her fabulous extended family, including her 5 fur-babies and "cat lady" husband.
