Heir to a Slave Page 18

Jason pried them apart so that he could slide down and press his forehead against Diego’s. “You’re right, and I promise you that the next time I paint you, my muse will be a free man.”

Diego smiled and sealed the promise with a kiss.

  Epilogue

  One month later

Jason stood in the middle of the foyer and took one last look around. The house stood empty, so there was nothing to see except in his memory. Even though the house hadn’t been his home for long, it felt as if he’d grown up there, matured and become an adult. It had taken him longer to do so than most people, and he supposed his owed his uncle a debt of gratitude, not for leaving him things, but for leaving him with people. Becoming a slave owner had forced Jason to shed the remnants of his childish carefree ways.

Footsteps rang out against the marble floor. Jason reached behind without looking, knowing who was there to take his hand.

“We’re all ready to go, Jason.”

He smiled and pulled Diego over to stand by his side. He pointed to a spot on the floor. “Right there, do you remember? You knelt on the floor at the end of the line of slaves, peeking up at me from under your lashes.”

Diego chuckled, a delightful sound that seemed more genuine as the days marched on toward their great migration north. “I remember. I was trying to get a look at my new master without being impertinent. I hadn’t realized you saw me doing it.”

Now it was Jason’s turn to chuckle. “Oh, I saw, and all I could think was my God, he’s beautiful.”

“I want to fuck him,” Diego added in.

Jason tugged Diego in for a hug. “Well, yes, I was thinking that, but also that I wanted to paint you. You were and are the best thing that has ever happened to me.” He punctuated his remark with a kiss that should have been quick, yet turned into slow and deep.

Diego pulled back first, another good sign. He was becoming bolder, more confident. Jason loved him all the more for it. “No more of that, please, or we’ll end up fucking on the floor.”

“Oh, to be the new owners coming in and finding the floor wet and sticky.” Jason stole another kiss, this one quick. “Okay, let’s go. That plane I’m chartering is all ready to take us to our new home.”

Diego’s expression turned serious. “I’m scared, Jason. I know in my head that this is the right move, yet I can’t help my nerves.”

“It’s okay, baby. Being scared is natural. Remember I’m with you always, for as long as you want me to be.”

“I want forever. Jason. My master no more. My boyfriend now, yes?”

Cupping Diego’s face with one hand, Jason stared deep into his eyes. “Yes, boyfriend. Lovers. Forever.”

They clasped hands and walked out the door.

  About the Author

I'm a corporate lawyer, happily married for over twenty-five years, with three kids and three dogs. No white picket fence, but we do live in the ’burbs west of Boston. While my husband and I still do occasionally lick chocolate off each other, our more typical evening involves lying in bed once the kids are in theirs, and reading separate books. Mine, of course, are romance. I started reading them as a defense against all those boring legal documents. Once I started, I couldn't stop.

I've also loved erotica since I was old enough to appreciate what sex is. I love reading and writing M/M in particular. I've been publishing erotic romance since 2009.

Besides my family, writing, and reading, my loves include the sight, smell, and sounds of the ocean (I'm a New England girl through and through), chocolate (naturally), prime rib (bloody), and good bourbon on the rocks.
