“When we climbed the stairs, I think I saw him.”

  I rub her head. “Who?”

  “Cole.”

Holding her tight, I kiss the top of her head. “Cole is dead, sweetie.”

“He’s alive, and he’s coming for me.”

“Well, you have me and Dominic to protect you. He’s not touching you again.” I extend my hand and signal Dominic to move closer. “Dominic protected you, didn’t he?”

“Why else did they want me if Cole isn’t alive?”

Dominic stops in front of us.

Placing my hands on Susana’s shoulders, I softly push her back. She releases me, and I turn her around. “Cole is gone. You must have imagined seeing him, or it was someone who looked like him.” I guide her into Dominic’s arms. “I have to go downstairs to entertain the guests. Stay here with Dominic, okay?”

“I don’t want to stay with him. He’s one of them.”

“He’s not one of them, or he wouldn’t have saved you.”

“His family killed my family,” she grumbles as he wraps his arms around her and hides her face against his chest.

“He’s not like them. He likes witches.”

“I like one witch,” Dominic protests. “I just like you.” He kisses Susana’s head and rubs her back to calm her down.

I pat her head and look at Dominic. “Be nice to her, or I’ll have your head.”

“I’m always nice to her,” he claims.

  “Be extra nice, then.”

  He nods and grins.

“And don’t smile like that. She’s scared.”

“I just killed some douchebag who tried to hurt her. I know she’s scared,” he assures me. “Are we safe? Is no one else going to enter the house and try to kill us all?”

“We’re safe. Calm her down and then descend to the garden with her. There’ll be fireworks. She likes fireworks.”

He nods, and I leave Susana’s bedroom to entertain my guests.

  Twelve

Halloween is over. Our party was a tremendous success among our guests, especially thanks to the bloody interlude.

Still, there was a lot to clean and many questions to answer when the Sovereign’s enforcers arrived at our property.

With the enforcers gone and our guests in their quarters, the sun is already up in the sky when I’m able to rest.

“It was a long night,” I sigh as I leave the bathroom into Richard’s bedroom.

He’s checking his computer and raises his head from the screen when he hears my voice.

“What are you doing? Shouldn’t you be in bed?” I admonish him as I walk to the bed and sit down. Removing the towel, I show him my naked body. “Do you prefer your computer to me?”

He leans back on his chair with tired eyes. “I’m surprised that you are here. I thought you wanted to go straight to bed. Or go to Simons’ bedroom.”

“I believe you deserve a prize for all you did for the past two days.” I cross my legs and secure my hands behind my back. “Don’t you want your prize?”

He gets up and unbuttons his shirt. “I need a bath first.” He looks at the white ruffled cuffs stained with blood. “It was messy to clean all the bodies.”

  “Go on, then. I’ll wait.”

He looks at me and then at the bathroom door. “I’d ask you to join me, but you already had your bath.”

“I was waiting for you to join me, but it seems that you were busy.”

“I was writing a report to send to Margaret with all the details of the events.” He rubs his forehead. “It’s best to do this while it’s all still fresh in my memory.”

“Go take your bath, don’t keep me waiting.”

He grins and disappears into the bathroom.

Getting up, I look around his bedroom and brush my fingers against his bedsheets. He likes silky and soft things. It’s been a while since I sleep in his bed. Slipping under the covers, I rest my head against the pillow.

I wake up with Richard’s naked body against mine and his lips on my lips. “Sorry, I didn’t want to wake you up.”

I flutter my eyelashes and sigh, cupping his face between my hand. “Did I fall asleep?”

“You must be exhausted.” His voice is low and sweet. “I just wanted to give you a goodnight kiss.”

“You’re naked,” I whisper, moving my hand down his chest. “Are you sure that you weren’t hoping that I might wake up?”

He grins. “As much as I want you, I know you’re tired.”

“Even if I’m tired, I want to be here with you. Kiss you.” I move closer and wrap an arm around his neck. Our lips touch, and we kiss until my thoughts are nothing but a whisper in the back of my mind.

His body moves closer, and his chest presses against mine. His arm circles my waist, and his hand rests on my butt. “It’s amazing to have you for myself. It’s been a while since we’ve been together like this.”

  “Susana…”

“Hush.” His lips press harder against mine. His other arm wraps around me, and he lays back and pulls me against his body. “You feel great against my body.” His fingers entangle with my wet hair. He opens his legs, and my legs fall between his. His hard-on presses against my navel. “Bliss is this, you know?”

“My body against yours while we kiss?”

“Our skin against one another while our minds are too tired to process any other information but the hunger between our mouths and the need for more contact between our bodies.”

I sigh, offering him my neck for him to kiss.

One of his hands grabs my ass while the other molds my breasts. I tilt my head back and straddle him. My pussy is throbbing with need.

He sits up and sucks on my left breast. “I’ve been so hard for you lately.”

I giggle. “Do you think I don’t get horny for you?”

“I don’t know. Sometimes, I’m afraid that you’ll abandon me again.”

“I didn’t abandon you. I’m not Victoria. She died. I was taken. But I’m not planning to abandon you. Ever.”

His hand moves between our bodies, and he positions his cock against my entrance. I slid down and take him in—slowly and gently. I shiver when he thrusts and moans when our hips begin to move at the same rhythm. What started slowly increases the pace, and I ride him nice and hard, famished for more contact. He groans loud with his hands grabbing my hips and helping me descend and rise on him.

Minutes later, his orgasm explodes before mine. The passion between us wakes me up completely, and I’m starving for his touch and thrilled by his craving for me.

He moves me from the top of him and lays me under his body. Soon, he continues the thrusting. In and out. Our groins slam together. His hands push against the mattress while he keeps moaning and shoving into me.

I’m high on lust as I peek between my eyelashes at his face. My legs are spread as much as I can while I experience each inch of his hardness inside me. His muscles flex and glow under the dim light casting shadows in the bedroom. I caress his chest, feeling his hard muscles and abs.

Grabbing his face, I push him down for a kiss. “Who do you belong to?”

  “You.”

  “And what’s my name?”

  “E-Emily.”

I giggle, happy with his answer. I would bite him until he bled if he said Victoria’s name.

Lowering his body into mine, he circles his arms around me and hugs me tighter as our groins are glued, and his thrusts are short but steady. “I love you, Em. I love you so much.”

Hugging him under his arms and moving my hands up his neck to caress his hair, I sigh with need. I want him so much that it hurts to think that something might have happened to him. To us.

I keep moaning louder and louder until the orgasm explodes between my legs, and I laugh with happiness. “That was amazing.”

He feather kisses up my neck until he covers my mouth with his. “Tell me how much you love me.”

Opening my eyes, I encounter his. “I love you so much.
I can’t live without you, Richard.”

He smiles and kisses me again. “You’re the only reason why I’m still living, Em. I wasn’t living when I found you. I was just existing. Now that you’re in my life… I feel like I can live for another one hundred years without ever feeling bored.”

  “Only one hundred years?”

“As long as you want me.”

Instead of continuing the love confession, I kiss him and continue kissing him until he’s hard again, and we make love one last time before we fall asleep in each other’s arms.

As for our Halloween night, this is going to be one of those nights to remember. We were lucky to have escaped alive. I am not sure we’ll be lucky again if we don’t discover who’s the one targeting me and coveting Victoria’s memories.

  About Alpha Magic

On Halloween night, not long after their 21st birthday, three Witches work a spell to bring their soul mates to them.... But their destiny isn't a single man or woman to love. It's a pack of Wolves... and three men who would die for them.

  This is Ruby’s story. Enjoy!

  Prologue

  Halloween night. One year ago.

  Ruby.

Our mothers said that three of us were fated, blessed. What she meant was, I would be stuck with these two, pain-in-the-ass best friends until my dying day.

“So, are we going to do it, or not?” I demanded of my friends, staring at each of them in turn. “Because there’s no going back after this.”

The wind moved through the trees around us, signaling a Fall storm was on its way. We were all gathered outside, on a large property in the middle of nowhere. No-one could see us, and no-one would ever know what we got up to tonight.

  This night. Our twenty-first birthday.

Tiffany, the blonde of our little group, nodded fiercely, agreeing with my statement. I could see it in her bright blue eyes. She wanted this as much I did.

I turned to Bella, who had her teeth buried firmly in her lower lip.

I rolled my eyes. “Come on, Bella! You know we can’t do this without you.”

And I meant that literally. Bella was a powerful witch and without her magic, I wasn’t sure Tiff and I could pull off a spell of this size.

She frowned and I could see the hesitation in the set of her shoulder, in her dark brown gaze.

I narrowed my eyes at the girl who’d been practically a sister to me since the day we’d been born, on Halloween, twenty-one years ago. “Come on, Bella. Please.”

We’d been talking about this spell for years. Planning it. Waiting until the night we were old enough… powerful enough… gutsy enough, to pull it off.

Then her gaze hardened, and relief poured through me. I knew that look. She was on my side now.

“Okay, Ruby. I’m in. Let’s do this.”

I grabbed my two best friends’ hands, and they grabbed each other’s, forming a perfect triangle of strength.

We were three witches born on the same day, the most powerful day of the year for our kind. All Hallow’s Eve.

Our mothers were friends, and they’d made sure we’d grown up together, strong, bonded, and most of all, loyal to one another.

We clasped hands and glanced down at the book between us, a spell book I’d found ten years ago that had belonged to my late grandmother.

We began to chant, in an ancient language that no-one spoke any more.

I closed my eyes, having memorized the spell years ago. I spoke my part, and my friends spoke theirs. Each section was a call to the magic that rippled in our veins. To Fate. To the love we all desired and craved.

Over and over we chanted our words, the magic in our blood simmering and bursting at the seams.

I could feel the heat in my body building, until sweat rolled down my skin. The power of our combined words swirled all around us, and yet I clung to the spell. Focusing everything I had on this moment.

My eyes opened. The ancient book’s text floated in the air between us. Bella was watching the book with trepidation and Tiff grinned when she caught my eye.

We began to speak louder, the words in our hearts building naturally as the spell came to a crescendo. I stared at our joined hands as white light built between our clenched fingers.

There was a sudden surge of power, and the urge to finish the spell gripped me. I nodded at my honorary sisters and together we finished the last of our parts.

As we uttered those last few words, the white magic we’d conjured shot into the air above our heads, exploding into a spectacular spray of fireworks, highlighted against the night sky.

The impact blew us back, and apart. Each of us landed with a mighty thump on the grass.

I groaned as I rolled onto my side to get off the bruised parts. But I didn’t look away from the sky, as the magic exploded, then seemed to disappear.

A small amount of disappointment hit me. I’d expected more than some white fireworks, then dissipation. Though what I’d thought would happen, I didn’t know.

As we sat on the ground, surrounded by nature and trees and the gorgeous country house off in the distance, peace stole over me.

“Is that it?” I asked, and as though in answer, the spell book that had been hovering in the air between us, landed on the dirt. The front cover closed. All signs of magic, gone.

Tiffany stood up first, brushing the dirt from her tight pants and groaning as though annoyed by the mess.

Bella and I got to our feet too, the excitement and build up to this day beginning to leech out of me.

It was over. Now, all we had to do was wait for the spell to come to fruition. For the men, our men… to come to us.

And patience, although I’d been told was a virtue, was not one of my strengths.

“So… back to the house for a celebratory drink?” I suggested, forcing come excitement into my tone.

We’d brought some alcohol with us. Why wouldn’t we when we could finally legally drink in the human world?

The girls turned and joined me in our trek back to the small house.

Once inside, we flicked on the lights and used our magic to mix up a few cocktails the color of the sunset: red, yellow, and a splash of purple.

“Perfect.” I picked up my glass that had been resting on the counter.

Tiffany and Bella plucked up their drinks as well, raising their glasses to clink with mine.

“Happy birthday,” I said, and they chorused back in time with me.

Sharing a birthday with my two best friends had been trying at times. Especially growing up. I never had my own party, or a single day when I could feel simply special just for being me.

We all took a sip of our first legal drink and grimaced at the amount of spirits I’d poured in.

“Wow, that’s strong,” Tiff said and I nodded, swallowing hard as the vodka and gin mix slid down my throat.

Bella swallowed awkwardly, shuddering before she set the drink back down on the counter.

She waved her hand over the table in front of us and conjured up a whole feast of savory and sweet snacks: chips, chocolate, candies, and crackers with cheese.

She was the best at making food. Actually, she was the best of ever
ything magic wise. But luckily for us, being the most introverted of trio, she never threw it in our faces.

  “Oh, perfect. Thanks, Belle.”

I grabbed some chips and stuffed them in my face. I hadn’t eaten dinner. That was the problem. I was hungry. I needed some real food.

Bella sighed and I glanced up at her, raising my eyebrows in question. It was obvious she wanted to ask me something.

“Do you think it worked?” she asked, speaking aloud the question we all wanted answered.

I shrugged, giving her the only answer I could. “I don’t know. I hope so.”

“Yeah, we’ve only been planning this forever,” Tiffany said, her tone exasperated.

I conjured up some stools and we all sat down around our little birthday feast.

We chatted and ate, drank and laughed, our whole lives ahead of us.

Through the night I liked to think that our magic was working its way to the men we were destined for.

Because the spell we had woven together tonight was a spell that called out to destiny.

  For our one, true love.

All three of our mothers had been abandoned before we were even born. We’d grown up around sorrow, and loneliness and heartache.

None of us wanted that for ourselves, or any future children we may have.

So tonight, we’d sent out a call, for the men who would love us for all eternity. We wanted them soon of course, but they would answer when they were good and ready.

Whether that be tomorrow, next month, or next year.

I would wait. And I knew Bella and Tiffany would too.

Because only Fate could be trusted with as important a decision, as the person we were meant to spend the rest of our lives with.

We’d lived our lives not trusting anything else.

  Or anyone.

Born to three single mothers, not a father between us, we had trust issues a plenty. I for one, wasn’t going to just date anyone.
