Denver
I hadn’t meant to stop and overhear the conversation, but when I’d noticed Paul was heading for the same table as me, we had this silent standoff until I heard the voices of Will’s parents.
My concealed presence near a decorative tree allowed me to watch Will from afar. His shoulders were hunched, like he was having the life sucked out of him just by being near his parents.
I really fell for him and took a step forward to join them, that was until Will opened his mouth and right there, with Paul listening in, he confessed we weren’t in a relationship.
“I knew it!” Paul said loud enough to reveal our closeness to the table.
Will’s parents looked confused, and for a moment I wasn’t sure how to read them. Despite their earlier comments, his mum almost looked upset.
Paul looked as smug as I’d ever seen him. And Will, well, I couldn’t even look at him.
“Denver,” he said.
I put my hand up to stop him from saying anything. The first time I’d ever called the shots in my life was when I decided to apply for the job on the resort. It was easy to fit in because everyone was accepting and nice. Now was the time to stand up for myself in a different way.
“Mr. and Mrs. Knowles,” I said, looking at them. “You live in a different world I can’t even begin to understand, or want to. In my world, people treat each other with respect that is earned based on someone’s actions. I am not going to justify myself to you because you’re just not worth it, but trust me when I tell you that you could do a lot worse than having me as your son’s boyfriend.”
I then turned to Paul. “You are an absolute asshole. I regret that I thought so little of myself that I accepted a crazy idea just to prove to you that I can be someone. I am happy without you, happier than I’ve ever been. Please forget I exist, unless you want to pay back the ten thousand dollars you charged on my credit card before you left me.”
Paul’s face was so red I thought he’d die on the spot. I hadn’t even noticed his “boyfriend” at a table nearby watching the whole thing. Paul turned and left the room. His boyfriend continued to eat his breakfast.
There was no avoiding Will. I took a deep breath, looked in his eyes, and smiled.
“Will, thank you for being selfless and doing this for me, but I don’t need it anymore. Make your own mould, you’ll fit in it so much better.”
I turned around and started walking back in the direction of my room. Going to the library would keep me busy, but I probably wasn’t going to be good company today.
I was turning the key on my cabin door when a bigger, stronger body pinned me to it.
“I’m not.” Will’s voice was hoarse and he was out of breath.
“You’re not what?”
“Selfless. In fact, I’m as selfish as they come.” Will turned me around without giving me an inch of opportunity to move away. He ran his long fingers through my hair, pulling my curls back from my forehead. His eyes followed his fingers until they fell on my eyes.
“When I suggested we pretend to be boyfriends, it wasn’t to mess up with Paul. I mean, it was, but not just because of that.”
“Why did you do it?” My heart beat was so loud in my ears I almost couldn’t hear my own voice.
“Because when we met, you were so skittish that I was afraid you wouldn’t let me get close enough to get to know you. I saw an opportunity and took it. Like I said, selfish.”
“Please don’t play with my feelings, Will. What do you want from me?” I asked, hoping the tears stinging the backs of my eyes wouldn’t escape.
“I want all of you, everything with you, forever. And if you keep standing up to my parents like that, I may just need to marry you and have your babies.”
I laughed, finally relaxing in his hold.
“In fact,” he said, taking the key from my hand and opening the door, “I think we should start on that part right now.”
Will pulled me in the room and closed the door behind us. I found myself pinned to the door once again. His eyes burned with lust, want, and… something more?
“Please Denver, let us have a chance at being together.”
“Okay.”
That was all I said before Will’s lips were on mine. He pushed my shirt up, feeling his way up my chest. His hard cock teased mine, promising more.
My brain was a foggy mess, but for once, I didn’t care. I’d already made up my mind about keeping Will the moment he pinned me to the door. He came after me. As selfish as it was, I liked that he’d left his parents behind to come for me. I came first for once.
As Will pulled me toward my room and started undressing me, I suddenly understood the sunrise. Until I accepted myself and let someone else in, the sunrise would only be a palette of colors. After I did those things, the sunrise was more. It was warmth, love, acceptance, creativity.
I didn’t know what the future held for me and Will, but I wasn’t going to let anything or anyone get in the way.
“William Knowles the Third,” I said as he covered my naked body with his.
He put his arms on either side of my head for balance as his cock rubbed on mine, our combined precum acting as lubrication. “Uh oh, am I in trouble?” he said without stopping his torture on me.
“Make love to me.”
“I intend on doing just that, baby.”
The next few minutes -although it felt like hours, or days - were filled with Will exploring my body and teasing me until I was coiled so tight I thought I’d burst from need.
“Will, please,” I wasn’t beyond begging at this point, and I also wanted a turn at exploring his perfect body. Will in a suit was a thing of wet dreams. Will naked was something else altogether.
When he came up to kiss me I used his temporary imbalance to flip us so I was on top.
“My turn,” I said, kissing him and then making my way down his body, wrapping my hand around his cock. I’d seen a small tattoo on his hip when he took his clothes off earlier, but I’d been too stupified by his leaking hard cock to think of anything else.
I knew we’d have plenty of time to get to know each other’s bodies in detail but the tattoo had intrigued me.
“What is it?”
“It’s Ursa Major, the constellation I was born under. I did it to remind myself that whatever world I live in, I’m still only one in seven billion people living under the same stars.”
I stopped and looked at him. That was the most beautiful thing I’d heard in my life. If I’d ever need proof this man was meant to be mine, this was it.
Will reached out for the condom and lube he’d placed on the bedside table and gave them to me. When I took the condom out to roll it down his length he grabbed my hand. I looked at him and just saw him shaking his head.
He whispered, “please, Denver.”
I nodded and put the condom on my own cock and used the lube to stretch Will out for me. I couldn’t have taken my eyes off of him even if I wanted to. He’d trusted me to take care of him, in the same way I needed to trust him to take care of me and my heart.
With one small thrust I was inside Will. The heat and tightness of his channel were almost enough to undo me.
“Slow down, baby, we have time,” I said. He dug his heels on my butt to get me to go deeper but I didn’t want to hurt him.
“It feels so good, Denver. I need more.”
“I guess I could do that,” I teased.
I wrapped my arms around his shoulders and rested my face in the crook of his neck. We were both breathing heavily as I kept up a fast and hard pace in and out of him.
“Oh fuck, Will, I’m so close,” I said into his skin.
“Faster, I’m close too.”
I wanted to put my hand between us to stroke him to completion but Will was holding on to me like he wanted us to blend into one person.
“Come for me, Will,” I said stealing a bruising kiss.
There was no need for additional friction on his cock. As soon as I felt the warmth of his re
lease between us I let myself go too, and came into the condom. My vision blurred and there were stars in the backs of my eyes.
“I think I may be dead,” I said resting my head on his chest. His hands came up to my head and he pushed back the wet curls that were stuck to my forehead.
“I think I may be in love.”
Silence filled the room. Had Will said it in his post-orgasm brain fog, or did he mean it?
“I can hear you thinking from here. I mean it, baby. I’ve fallen hard and fast for you, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, because neither you nor I are going anywhere without the other.
“Promise?”
“Promise.”
“I fell for you the first time I saw the sun rise in your eyes,” I said, placing a soft kiss on his chest just over his heart.
“Liar,” he said.
I looked at him with false indignation.
“You fell for me when you caught me taking my socks off in the lobby.”
I straightened up to kiss him.
“I think you’re right.”

I tip-toed behind him, and just when I was about to jump on Denver, he turned around and startled me instead.
“You saw me?” I asked.
“Yes, from the reflection on my screen, silly,” he replied. “I was just finishing the article for Stature actually, so perfect timing. Do you want to read it?”
Denver slid the laptop closer to me as I sat on his lap. Before I did anything else, though, I made sure to give him a deep french kiss that made his cock jump in his underwear.
“I hate you,” he chuckled.
“No you don’t,” I replied and read the article.
It was perfect as usual. He was a natural. Since we got together, he had found so much of his confidence, and it even showed in his writing. After his tenure with the Barefoot Librarian blog came to an end, he joined my team at Stature and also got a deal to write a memoir.
Everyone was interested in our story. How we met, how we got together, how we made it work. The world wanted to know. And if Denver loved anything more than me, that was telling stories.
“It’s perfect, baby. I’ll send it to the editor now,” I told him, and he grinned from ear to ear. I could watch his face until the day I died and it would never get boring. He was a ray of sunshine in my soul, and it radiated with every smile, every touch, every kiss.
My phone pinged and I took it out of my pocket to read the email I’d received. I showed it to Denver and we both read together.
It was an email from Colette who was in New York. She had written to me about her experience after her first few weeks of college. After Denver and I got together and when we returned to New York briefly, I’d decided to give both Maria and Colette a generous tip for their services. Maria paid for her nursing school on the main island and got herself a house, and for Colette, I spoke to the Dean of the engineering college, and he offered her a scholarship if she could pass a test. She did with flying colors.
“How sweet of her. I’m so happy she’s following her dream,” Denver commented. “And you made that happen. You’re the best.”
Denver gave me a kiss and his tongue teased with mine, dancing around mine until it gave me a boner too.
“Oh, dear. What on earth can we do about those now?” Denver laughed.
“You’ll be the death of me,” I replied. We’d only just had sex an hour ago before he got up and left to finish his article.
“I mean, death by orgasm is not the worst way to die, is it?”
I tried to shut him up, but the bell of the villa rang, making us both jump out of the chair.
“Whoever it is, they’re fired,” I said and started to make my way for upstairs, but Denver grabbed my arm.
“I’ll go. I’m… more decent,” he pointedly looked down at the tent in my underwear while he covered his with his robe.
He walked up the stairs in bare feet and I smiled. When I’d met him, he wouldn’t be seen barefoot. The idea made him retch. And now, after I’d bought the island before my parents could have their sa, and we’d turned into one of the world’s most sustainable luxury resorts, he wouldn’t be caught dead in shoes or sandals.
Everything had changed since the day we met. It was all for the better. Even my parents, after the initial shock of announcing my relationship to Denver, again, got accustomed to having him around. He won them over, like he won everythone over. And the best part was, he’d even made them realize how much they loved each other.
They hadn’t talked of divorce in four months. I didn’t know if it was going to last, but four months was bliss for them. And for me. Although I hardly saw them anymore. Living on the island meant I could stay away from any of the drama back in NYC.
Denver returned holding a red envelope in his hand.
“It’s addressed to you,” he said, and passed it over.
I took it and immediately recognized its origin. The Braxton Academy logo was stamped on the wax seal. I tore it open and took the headed paper to read.
Denver peaked over my shoulder.
“A reunion? What reunion is it?” he asked.
“High school. A reunion of my class from the Benjamin Braxton Academy for boys,” I replied.
Denver gasped.
“You went to the most elite school in New York City?” he said, then slapped his forehead. “Duh, of course you did. You’re a billionaire. I keep forgetting.”
“That’s one of the million things I love about you.” I grabbed his waist and pulled him to me.
“I love you too, baby. And we’re definitely going to that reunion,” he said before his lips collided with mine, and, as it always happened, my whole world crumbled underneath me.
I might be a billionaire, but being with him was what made me the richest man in the world.
