“But seeing you now… Witnessing as you refuse to hand over a hallow that you feel is yours despite the promise you have made… You truly are my daughter, Liva. You are just as powerful, just as ruthless as I have always wanted you to be.” Her eyes sparkled victoriously. “Let the Sword of Ala be my gift to you, daughter. From one queen to another.”

I didn’t say that I was only ruthless for good reason. If she was happy enough to let me leave in one piece and with the Sword of Ala in my hands, I wasn’t about to complain.

Not when I had my reason to get back to.

  Chapter 34

The instant I evanesced into Faery, a hard body slammed into me full force. I laughed into the wall of muscles that tackled me to the ground and wrestled until I ended up on top, Cian’s hands immediately snaking up my waist. I grinned at the sexy Fae beneath me, finding that perfect spot that allowed me to feel the hard evidence of his desire. My hormones were roaring to just tear off his clothes and revel in the victory and feel of him, but I refused to give in. Not yet, at least.

“Don’t tell me you were worried,” I purred, unfastened the strap that held the sword across my back, and leaned down to trace his lips with the tip of my tongue once the blade was on the ground.

Cian groaned, crushing his lips to mine and driving any semblance of sanity from my mind. I faintly sensed a protective layer of glamor creating a dome around us, betraying his intentions as clearly as the bulge straining his pants. My own body reacted, flames licking down my skin, engulfing me in their consuming heat. The clothes I wore transformed from a nuisance into something so oppressive I couldn’t get rid of them fast enough.

And yet there was something I wanted more.

I tore myself away from Cian’s lips, my hand lifting the hem of his shirt to expose the honed muscles of his abdomen. My tongue traced every line, satisfaction rolling over me with each small quiver that took hold of my High Lord, with each twitch that testified to his struggle for control. Oh, he knew as well as I did that I wouldn’t let him go that easily.

I smiled when I reached the sharp line of his hips, feeling my own excitement growing, pulsing within me so fiercely, so violently that I liberated him from his pants with a single flick of my fingers. The button soared through the air, lost somewhere in the soft, bright grass surrounding the manor. My home.

“Liva,” he groaned as I wrapped my fingers around the exquisite thickness of him, squeezing ever so slightly. Just to give him a taste.

His eyes drilled into mine, raw need swirling in those purple depths. I batted my lashes at him and wetted my lips, the corners turning up into a soft smile. I couldn’t believe how stunning he was—body and soul. My other half. My mate. My eternal companion.

And as he looked at me like there was no one else in this world, no one else that mattered but me, my own breath faltered.

Slowly, I traced the length of him from the base to the inviting velvet tip I simply couldn’t resist taking in my mouth. Cian’s groan exploded through the air, a combination of my name and inarticulate sounds of pleasure that would have spread through the entire Fae realm if it weren’t for the glamor, separating us from the rest of reality.

I went slow at first, bringing him deeper and deeper with every inch. I could never fit him whole, but I didn’t have to. My hand and mouth worked in harmony, submitting him to a rhythm that made him curse into the sky above. His hips shifted beneath me, trying to wrangle away from my control. Only I was relentless. He couldn’t get past my demonic strength or my determination to please him until I said otherwise. Until I allowed him to return the favor.

He grew even bigger in my mouth, so hot and throbbing I knew he wouldn’t last much longer. Gently, I grazed my teeth against the satin skin, flirting with that dangerous line between pleasure and pain, but not granting him his release. Not yet.

I twirled my tongue around the heated tip, sucking and caressing, before my lips slipped down the length of him. I built up the rhythm until his entire body shook beneath me, his hand bunching in my hair, forcing me to take him deeper.

  And I did.

He screamed then, and as he spilled into my mouth, I drank the taste of him, even those drops I caught with my tongue as the waves of aftershock rippled through his body.

Dazed purple eyes met mine when I finally stood up and shimmied my curves out of my clothes, his gaze following each piece of fabric that fell seductively onto the ground. And as he watched my small performance, he grew hard again, his need for me as unyielding as mine was for him.

It appeared the Fae stamina matched the demonic hunger perfectly, but I was adamant, so, so adamant to test out that theory in person.

With a wicked smile on my face, I straddled his hips, but didn’t lower myself down on him completely. My teeth grazed his earlobe, the soft scent of pine sweeping over me as I whispered, “I want you inside me, Cian.”

Without as much as a breath lost, his arm snaked around my back, and he lifted himself off the ground to bury his throbbing erection deep inside me. He filled me completely, every inch of him sheathed in the molten heat of my arousal. I cried out as his incisor broke through the skin on my breast, marking me as my nails marked his muscular back.

We moved as one then, consummating our bond, our freedom from our past.

And the future we would have. Together.
