  ‘My Lord, did I?’ she grinned. ‘That was worthy of Granny Morwen, I’ll bet.’

  The church bells were still ringing out far and wide, filling the air with their sweetness, and heralding the peace that was yet to feel like a reality, but was already descending blissfully over the bedroom at New World.

  ‘So now we really do have to think of a name, don’t we?’ Philip said, prosaic as ever.

  Skye spoke softly. ‘I’ve already thought. The moment I knew it was a girl, the name was in my head, and please don’t mock, Philip, but I think maybe someone was putting it there. I want to call her Celia. Do you approve?’

  Tenderly, he gathered his family close in his arms, his brave and beautiful wife, and his beautiful child.

  ‘I think she would definitely approve,’ he said, without elaborating. And from the reaction in Skye’s bright, brimming eyes, he knew she understood perfectly.
