“They’re going to be okay. The four of them are incredibly powerful, and together they’ll get out of there. You just have to believe in them,” Ravi whispered.
“I do. I finally believe in it all.” Cassie declared, and Ravi squeezed her hand. “And Ravi? Thank you for saving me.” Ravi didn’t answer. Instead, he leaned forward and brushed his lips gently over Cassie’s. Instantly, she felt a jolt rush through her, all the way down to her toes. Ravi pulled back slightly, and Cassie knew he was unsure of himself—something she didn’t think she’d ever see. It endeared him to her even more; she weaved her hand around the back of his neck and pulled him down towards her. As their lips met again, with a little more force this time, Cassie felt as though something hidden was unlocking inside her. In that moment, she understood exactly what Addie and Selene had been trying to explain all along. Letting Ravi in felt like going home after a long journey lost in the darkness. As their kiss deepened, Cassie felt empowered—as though Ravi completed the missing piece of herself, and she, him. Even the pain in her head subsided as she lost herself in their kiss, feeling as though they’d always been together and always would be.
Cassie pushed him away slightly, ending their kiss, and he looked at her, his eyes questioning. Smiling at him, she gave a slight nod. “I remember. I remember everything.”
