“Can’t you just acknowledge that you saw me and sign it off, so I can go about my day?”

She did that head tilting thing again as if she was processing my words. She offered me a small smile.

“Now, you know I can’t do that. I can’t just send you off without actually talking to you. That’d be a waste of both of our time. Don’t you think?”

I shrugged refusing to talk. She was getting on my nerves. Where was the old angel, Matteo, when I needed him? Who was this damn woman, and why wouldn’t she just leave it be?

“Not going to answer me?” she probed.

“I don’t see why I have to. You’re just going to try to get into my head and tell me I’m crazy or something.”

  “Will I?” she inquired.

  “Won’t you?” I retorted.

“Do you think you’re crazy, Nate?”

“No, but I can tell you think I am.”

That seemed to peak her interest as she shifted in her seat.

  “Indulge me.”

I smirked knowing she was trying to set me up, but I knew better than that. I wasn’t going to talk about a damn thing with her. I uncrossed my arms, resting them on the back of the couch. I eyed Dr. McQueen as she sat there staring right at me. She waited for me to begin talking, but what she didn’t know was I had shut down. I shut my eyes and rested my head back on the couch.

“Wake me up when my time is up, Doc. I’m done talking to you.”

I could feel her eyes on me, and it made me smile. If she wanted to keep asking me questions, then I would keep ignoring her.

“Okay, Mr. Hendrix.” I heard the sarcasm in her voice.

My eyes remained shut, drowning everything out.

Madness is Love, Nate and Xena’s story is coming soon!

Nate’s twin brother, Uriel’s story is available now in Love is Madness?

He was born bathed in darkness.

Darkness is all he knows, all he understands, and all he wants to know.

  But he made a mistake.

It only took one night, one moment, for it all to change.

He saved her when he should’ve left her alone.

  Saving her changed him, forever.

She fell off, wanting to die, but he caught her and let her go.

When he caught her the second time, he decided to keep her.

Slowly, she’d find out he was never letting her go.
