Angel rested a hand on his cheek. “Those frames are from Michael’s. The sketches are priceless to me. I was sad I didn’t get one on Friday.”
Alessandro rubbed his face into her palm. “Friday was crazy. New Zealand is postponed indefinitely. They’ve released me from my contract.”
She scrambled onto her side. “Are you serious?”
“Yes, and it’s fine. I’m glad to be done with it. My grandfather raised me to be an artist, not a hollow movie star. I need to pick my projects more wisely.”
Angel was moved beyond words. “He would be so proud of you.”
“Thanks.” He took her hand and laced their fingers together. “I hope so.”
“What are your plans?”
“I’ve got a meeting with Knight Films—they’re local. Maybe I’ll move back to Florida full-time. What do you think?”
Angel made a face. He interpreted it the wrong way. “Too fast?”
“No, it’s not that. I’m leaving Florida.”
“You are?”
“Sorry, yes. I got accepted to a one-year artist residency.”
“You have?” Alessandro went ashen gray. “I’m happy for you. Where will you be?”
“Los Angeles.”
“Wait.” He rolled off the bed and stood before her. “Say that again.”
“I’m moving to Los Angeles.” She searched his face. A strange mix of emotions was displayed there. “Too fast?”
He held her face between his hands. “Not for us,” he said, and kissed her slowly.
