“Baby, it’s okay. We’re okay…”
He raises his head and his shaking hands come up to cup my cheeks. “Fuck, Ives, I’m so fuckin’ sorry. You could’ve been killed. Fuck—”
I cut him off with a gentle kiss.
A throat clearing behind me catches my attention. “Ives, when you’re done, you might want to get out of here ASAP… before the cops show up.” Priest takes a step toward me. “We’ll make him talk and I’ll give you a call.” His gaze moves to Theo. “Take care of her.”
Theo nods and I thank Priest and his men as drag Blip out kicking and screaming. When their bikes start up, I get to my feet and help Rachel up. She throws her arms around me and cries into my shoulder. “God, Ivy, I can’t believe you. You’re so damn brave.” She strokes my hair and smiles.
“Let’s get out of here,” I say.

“You almost ready, babe?” I zip the last of my bags and turn to look at Theo, he’s standing in the door of my room. “Yeah, this is the last one.”
He grabs my last suitcase and leaves to load it in his truck. I sit on my bed looking around my now empty room.
“‘Bout that time, baby girl.” My dad joins me on my bed and wraps his arm around me. I lay my head against his shoulder and lean into his embrace.
“You gonna be alright without me?” I pat his hand softly.
Dad scoffs. “You think you’re the reason I made it this long? Now what’s the white pill in my medicine case for again?”
I scrunch up my nose because I know which white pill he’s talking about. “Okay I get it, you creep. You’ll be fine.”
Dad laughs and kisses my head. “I’ll be fine, baby. It’s time you went out and lived life for yourself.”
My heart skips a beat and my nerves are frazzled. This club is my home, it’s all I’ve ever known. It’s where my family lives and where I met Theo. I twist my fingers together while I stumble over the words I want to say. I can do this. After a long inhale and exhale, I straighten.
“What’s going on, baby girl?”
God, I’m going to miss my dad. “I don’t know… I’m scared, Dad.”
“Did I ever tell you why your mom and I chose to name you Ivy?” he asks and I shake my head.
“We named you Ivy because it encompassed everything we wanted to raise you to be, Ivy. The ivy symbolizes dependence, endurance and faithfulness. You my girl, are the very essence of the vine you share a name with.”
My eyes are watering as I throw my arms around my dad’s neck. Letting go, I sink back into his hold.
It’s been a month since everything went down with Blip and Rachel. Thankfully the destruction outside the barn wasn’t as bad as it sounded. Theo still lost one man, a prospect named Bex. The loss was hard on him and his men but we all realize how much worse it could have been.
Priest called me two days later to let me know that none of our other men were compromised. It was a relief for all of us, but Dad is still struggling, knowing that we had enemies living amongst us for so many years and we were none the wiser. I expect it’ll be a while before any new prospects are brought on to the Iron Reapers.
As for Rachel, Priest says she’s doing well. She attends a group therapy session once a week that his wife, Willow actually attends with her. She goes by Holly now, named after my favorite butterfly, the Holly Blue. Last I heard from Priest, she was actually going to start nannying for one of the men in his MC that recently adopted two young boys.
As for Theo and I… I glance at my hand resting in my lap. The starburst from the sun reflecting against my diamond shines in my eye. Yep, I’m about to be Old Lady to the President of the Vipers MC.
When I found out Theo had named his MC after his own road name, I laughed. But when he explained that he had come to refer to the monster inside of him as a snake, and his darkness as the poison, it all made sense. Theo Bourne was a Viper through and through. His bite may not always hold venom, but God help you when it did.
Lucky for me, I was his Anti-Venom.
