When they both started yelling, Shenarah came into the hall. “Stop it the pair of you. You both need to stop. Sam is awake.”
When Kyg heard this, he rushed past Shenarah into Sam’s room. He knelt by the bed and took Sam into his arms. “Why? Why did you leave me?” sadness and hurt filled Kyg’s voice.
Sam wrapped his arms around Kyg’s shoulders and cried into his neck. “We can’t have sex, and when I saw you on the bed with all those handsome gorgeous men, I... I just...” Sam burst into tears.
Erga stood on the other side of the bed and hung his head. Both Sam and Kyg heard Erga groan, and then swear. “Look you too, I didn’t mean no sex at all. I meant no rough sex and I now see you didn’t understand me at all.”

Misunderstood
Erga released Sam to his lover and told them to go seclude themselves in their bunker for a day or so. “You both need to connect, so get your asses to that room. That’s doctor’s orders.” Kyg and Sam smiled at him and Shenarah as Kyg carried Sam to their bunker hideaway.
When they approached the secure elevator for the bunker they saw Uro standing there biting her nails. Sam frowned at Kyg, then looked to Uro, “Uro, what’s wrong?” Sam asked, concern filling his voice.
Uro looked up with tears in her eyes. “I was so worried about you. Are you okay?” She sniffled.
“Let me down, Kyg.”
“NO!” Kyg said soundly.
“No, why?” Sam asked
“Because...”
“Because? That’s not a good reason.” Sam complained.
“It is for me.” He turned to Uro, “As much as you love your Consort and was worried about him, I was ordered to take him downstairs and make him feel loved and cared for.”
Sam facepalmed, groaning out. “Kyg!”
“What? It’s the truth. Erga told me to take you to our bunker and not come out for a couple of days. As much as you care for Uro and need to comfort her, I need you more. Can you not feel how hard my cock is?” With the last declaration, Uro excused herself as she fanned her bright red cheeks.
Kyg laid Sam down on the bed, then stripped them both before lying down beside his beloved mate. Pulling Sam into his arms, he cradled him as if he was made of glass. “How could you think I loved another more than you,” he said, touching Sam’s chest, and then trailing his fingers down his abs to his groin. He felt Sam jerk as he touched his heated shaft, before moving back up and rubbing Sam’s round tummy where their dragonlet lay. Kyg moved his hand to Sam’s hair, then pulled his face closer and kissed his lips tenderly.
Sam pulled away breathless, before moving his hand down to take Kyg’s large erection into his hand. He began pumping as Kyg got even harder.
“Fuck, I am not going to last long. It’s been too long since I made love to you.” Kyg groaned and lifted his hips, arching his back as Sam played him like a master musician. “Fuck baby, please finish me, I need you so damn much.” Sam pumped Kyg’s shaft faster and when he felt Kyg’s body tense and his back arch. Sam moved quickly and took him into his mouth. The touch of his moist wet mouth was Kyg’s undoing and he cried out loud with his release.
Kyg’s body fell back onto the bed. He lay there covered in sweat, his heart racing, his breathing ragged. “Oh, my Sam, I have missed you and I love only you. Even though it is my right as a king to take anyone in my harem, you must understand and know . . .” he lifted his left hand and showed the dragon mark there as he lifted Sam’s hand and showed him the mating mark there. This binds you to me. I will never leave you Sam. We are bonded for life.” He rolled to his side and pulled Sam closer.
Kyg kissed Sam tenderly, then moved his hand down to Sam’s erection and proceeded to show Sam just how much he loved him. Later they both fell into an exhausted sleep entwined in each other’s arms.
IT WAS THE DAY BEFORE the Spring Equinox Ball. Xeg had hired extra security from several of the kings that would be attending. They’d been with him for two weeks and he was checking their backgrounds making sure none of them were the suspected group trying to take Kyg down. When he was fully satisfied, he’d instructed that the kings from each province would be protected by four of their own warriors and the rest would be assigned to external and internal security. Every gate was locked down with guards there to prevent anyone trying to come in through the wrong gate. The only gate open for ball guests was the front gate. There Xeg had beefed up the number of warriors for security.
Xeg met with Kyg before heading out to the event. “I’ve extra security watching you and Sam. Please, try and stay within the warriors’ view, so you are protected, brother,” Xeg grunted out knowing his brother probably wouldn’t listen to him.
“Yes, yes, Xeg,” Kyg sighed, tired of all the crap that had been going on in his kingdom. “I need to fucking find that bitch Cezzot and her minions and kill the bastards.”
Xeg sat his ass on the side table in Kyg’s bedroom. He ran his hands through his hair. He was so fucking tired, that if he sat there long enough he would fall asleep.
Kyg looked at him frowning. “You haven’t gone to see Erga have you? Do I have to worry about you and Sam? You need to get your ass into Erga’s and that is an order from your king.” He growled, giving Xeg the evil eye. “I mean it, Xeg. If you don’t I will confine your ass to your suite and have Erga come see you...” he left that hanging in the air.
“You know, brother, you can be a royal pain in the ass,” Xeg sighed, rolling his eyes.
“I am only a pain in that I care about you and your health, so immediately after the ball, tomorrow morning you will go to Erga’s. I will make the appointment myself.” Kyg turned and left Xeg to go and see how things were going with Uro helping Sam get ready for the ball.
Xeg also left the bunker to go and do a check on his warriors. He walked about the grounds and saw that all the warriors were in their correct places, the gates securely locked. He sighed, fuck, he was so damn tired. He started shaking and had to sit down on one of the stone benches in one of the gardens. Maybe he was hungry and needed food. Rising, he went to the kitchen and checked out the food that was there, he helped himself to seven sandwiches and a quart of ale. After he ate he did feel a little better, however the food didn’t sit quite right in his stomach. Oh, well, he couldn’t be sick today no matter what. This day was too important in dragonology and he intended to see it through.
ALL THE ROOMS HAD BEEN decorated, the Banqueting Hall all set up with rich decadent food, the wine table was filled with imported wines and potent drinks. The ballroom was decked out with festive spring colors, in muted yellows, blues, greens, pinks and other shades Sam had no idea what their names were. The outside of the palace was as festive as the inside. The only garish stain on the Spring Equinox was that all the gates were closed with warriors guarding them. The only one open was the main gate, where Xeg’s Elite warriors were scanning each and every guest.
Xeg had just made a second round of the gardens. He went inside one more time to make sure things were running smoothly for the king and his Consort. Xeg had just walked through the front portico doors when he saw...
Chapter Thirteen
Spring Equinox Ball
Sam wore a pale blue silk shirt made for him that was embroidered with silver thread in the design of Kyg’s crest. His loose fitting black silk slacks completed his outfit. He wore black silk slippers that would make it more comfortable for him to walk around and greet their guests. Kyg came out of their room attired in his dress uniform. Sam gasped, “OMG K...” Using Kyg’s new pet name, Sam gave to his lover and mate, “you are gorgeous.” Walking to Kyg, Sam leaned in and kissed his lover.
Kyg took Sam’s hands and held him back to look at his outfit. “You are so handsome my love. That blue makes your eyes pop.” He leaned in as well and kissed Sam’s lips. “Are you ready for this, love?”
“Yes, how does it look?”
“You and your committee outdid even Cezzot.” He took Sam’s hand and placed it in the crook
of his arm. Leading him out of the bunker and up to the hall near the Banqueting Hall. Urgo came when she saw the King and his Consort and pressed a glass of wine in Kyg’s hand and juice into Sam’s.
“Thanks, Urgo, you look great,” Sam said, looking around at the finished product of all their planning. “Well, Kyg and I better make our rounds.” Sam reached for Kyg’s arm and realized he’d been pulled away by one of the Royal Court advisors. He sighed heavily, why couldn’t they just leave Kyg alone for one night. Deciding he didn’t want to wait for Kyg, he wandered around to the different areas. He poked his head into the ballroom and saw the orchestra was checking things out and getting set up to begin playing in a half hour.
Sam wandered outside into the warm night, taking a deep breath of fresh air. Suddenly, he was hit with a strong pain in his stomach. Taking a few deep breaths, he was able to stand up and walk more around the gardens of the palace. As he passed by a garden where the fountains were lit up with colored lights, he stopped and sat down on an ornate cement bench, looking at the beautiful colors this planet was showing him. Just as Sam stood up, someone ran into him, the impact propelled him forward and into the garden pond, but because the water was shallow, Sam landed hard on his protruding belly. The wind was knocked out of him and the pain from both almost made him lose consciousness.
Xeg had just walked through the front portico doors when he saw someone run and shove Sam into the garden pound. Before Sam’s guards could get to him, Xeg ran jumping into the water to rescue Sam. “Sam!” he gasped. “Are you okay?” When Sam didn’t answer Xeg lifted him out of the water and carried him to the bench. Realizing the air must have been knocked out of his lungs, Xeg sat with Sam until he caught his breath.
“I’m fine, Xeg. Did you see who it was?”
“No, it was a blur of black and I saw you fly into the pool. Let me get Kyg.” Not wanting to leave Sam, Xeg ordered one of the guards to fetch their king.
Sam sat there taking short breaths, but it was hard. The pain in his abdomen was strong. He wasn’t going to tell Kyg about the stomach pains, because Kyg needed to be present tonight at the festivities.
Kyg knelt down taking Sam’s hands into his. Seeing his mate’s drenched clothes he growled. Kyg turned to Xeg, “Who the hell did this?”
“All I saw was a blur of black clothing, then Sam flying through the air into the garden pond. I’ve already sent out a squad of Elite warriors to scour the palace grounds. But, honestly, Kyg, he or she is probably out of those black clothes by now. Let me get Urgo to take Sam to your bunker to change.”
Kyg nodded, helping Sam up. He didn’t see the pain that moved across Sam’s face. Urgo came out looking very concerned.
“What happened, Your Highness?”
“I was a little hot and took a dip in the garden pond, what else could it have been, my dear?” he smiled and let Urgo help him to the bunker.
Urgo stood in Sam’s changing room, worried about her Consort and his safety. Sam sat as Urgo helped him find another outfit. “Here, Sire, I have three shirts for you to choose from.” She laid out a silk green shirt, a darker blue silk shirt, and a soft purple silk shirts.
Sam sighed and pointed to the soft purple silk shirt. “You’ll find another pair of black silk slacks. I think there is another set of silk slippers as well, Urgo.” Sam unbuttoned his soiled new shirt and took it off, then he stood and stripped off his black slacks. He was overcome with emotion. Sitting down, he opened up the floodgates and cried. Urgo came in and found her Consort in tears.
“Oh, Your Highness, come, come. It will be okay. Here, let me help you so don’t miss out on the wonderful ball you have planned,” she said, holding his slacks and purple shirt. She sat him back down and washed his face with a soft rag, then fixed his hair again. She added some makeup and looking into the mirror, she smiled. “There you are, good as new.”
Sam looked too and he had to admit he looked good in the purple shirt as well. Urgo had done wonders with his hair, and the reflection looking back at him looked pretty good.
“Now, let’s head back, so you don’t miss a thing,” Urgo said, leading him to the Banqueting Hall. Both were smiling, eager to join the festivities.
Sam spied Kyg up on the dais, so he walked up the stairs and sat on the Consort's throne. The music from the ballroom began to play as Kyg turned and looked at Sam. “You look good, sweetheart.”
XEG WAS MAKING HIS rounds again to see if he could spot the ‘blur’ that had pushed Sam into the fountain. Kyg had read the riot act to the guards protecting Sam, threatening to have them demoted to farm hands. Xeg calmed his brother, telling him it all happened so quickly and that the guards didn’t have a chance to save Sam. Xeg did, however, reprimand the guards for being too far away from Sam. They needed to stay three feet away from Sam, unless their King was with his Consort, then to step back to give them some privacy.
He walked from gate to gate checking security. At the front gate Xeg stopped to listen to his warrior speaking with someone complaining about not receiving an invitation. Xeg stepped in to intervene. “Borsentait, is there a problem here?”
“Yes, Commander. King Nath and Queen Thephio and their son Prince Dev say they did not receive their Spring Equinox Ball invitations. I was about to explain why . . .”
King Nath cut him off, “Prince Xeg, is this to be a slight against our monarchy?”
Xeg was taken aback by the question. “Your Majesty, Never! There must have been a mistake, or an oversight. I will get to the bottom of this, but in the meantime let me invite you into our Equinox Festival. Xeg led them through the gates up the palace steps and into the Banqueting Room. There he found a table near the front so as to honor them. Once they were seated, Xeg motioned for one of the waiters over. “Three coffees and a glass of sweet wine.” The waiter nodded and went to do the prince’s bidding.
When the beverages arrived, he sat and drank his coffee. The conversation was light and Xeg was enjoying himself immensely as he listened to the easy banter between parents and son. He turned his attention to the king, “Sire, would you allow me to escort your son around the palace and show him the different rooms our Consort has made beautiful?”
“Yes of course, Prince Xeg, you may show him around.”
Xeg held his arm out to Prince Dev and tucked his hand into the crook of his arm. “Prince Dev, let me show you the gardens first.” Xeg walked him around the lawns and the numerous gardens filled with spring flowers, scenting the night air with their heady perfume. “So tell me, Dev, where have you been all my life?” Oh shit, Xeg thought, what was he thinking. Dev must have seen his face, because he laughed at the comment. His face turned a great shade of red.
Dev laughed, then smiled at Xeg. “Well, I think I was on my home planet. Where were you, handsome?”
His voice was soft and alluring, drawing him in. All he could think of was to get him alone and kiss that sexy body all over. He took several deep breaths before leading him to the fountain garden. He offered Dev a seat on the bench in front of the fountain. “Please sit and enjoy the serenity of this garden.”
Dev looked around at the fountain and the surrounding area filled with exotic plants and some birds that were native to Byndra. Sighing he looked at Xeg. “One could get used to sitting here in the tranquility of this place. You and your brother, the King, are to be commended at what you’ve done here. You both have shown the other dragon clans how to live in peace and harmony.” He moved over to Xeg and took his hand into his own. Dev smiled knowingly at Xeg as he felt his hand tremble in his own.
Xeg didn’t know how long they sat there in the quiet of the garden, but the darkening sky told him they’d been there for a few hours talking, holding hands and enjoying each other’s company. Clearing his throat, “Well I had better get you back to your parents...” he let the sentence hang in the air.
“No, my parents aren’t worried where I am, but I do hear music. Would you care to take me into the ballroom and dance with me?” he
asked smiling at Xeg.
Xeg held his breath and nodded as he rose and offered Dev his arm. Taking it, they both walked to the ballroom and began dancing. They waltzed and twirled around the dance floor. Then the music turned to a slow dance and Xeg pulled Dev deeper into his arms. Dev rested his head on Xeg’s shoulder, smelling his delicate scent. Xeg shivered.
SAM SAT ON HIS THRONE with Kyg next to him, watching the dancers as they moved about the ballroom. He smiled and enjoyed everything that was happening. Sam shifted in his chair feeling a slight pain in his back. Kyg noticed and handed him a pillow, that eased the pain somewhat.
Sam saw Xeg and some unknown male step onto the dance floor and began dancing. They were quite good. The male held himself tall, oozing confidence and smiled seductively to Xeg, who looked just as charming. The man was beautiful, his hair dark, his skin, pale as the moons that rose over Byndra. A sudden but faint pain in his tummy made him squirm as his sat on his throne watching the activities. He tried not to show what he was feeling, but nothing helped and soon the servant nearest to him went to pick Sam up, only to be thwarted by the king, who rushed him to their bunker. The pain was so intense, it finally caused his groans to change to screams.
There, Kyg laid Sam on the bed, where he turned on his side and drew his legs up which only helped a little with the pain. Sam’s loud screams reverberated, bringing Uro to his bedroom. She shouted for a chambermaid to fetch Dr. Erga. Uro knelt by the bed. She turned to the king, “Quick, gather the Consort and go to the medical clinic.” Nodding, Kyg did as Uro said, not wanting to delay Sam’s treatment.
Fifteen minutes later Sam was laid on the table in the exam room. Erga was giving Sam a shot for the pain, while Shenarah brought him the monitor to check the status of the egg he carried. Just as Erga saw the picture, Kyg, moved closer, to see his egg.
“What is it? It can’t be time to take the egg out?” he asked, as he knelt on the floor and took Sam’s hand.
