His Best Friend's sister: The Cohan Billionaire Brothers Book Six Page 16

by Layla Holt

“I still can’t believe that father agreed to go on a tour around the world,” Megan said from where she sat on the couch next to Max.

  “He’s growing old,” Adrian said.

“He must be to leave you two in charge. Wait, he did say that I was to keep an eye on you,” Jaime said.

They all laughed. They were hanging out as a family after a sumptuous dinner hosted by Dean and Ruby. The cousins were in the kids’ TV room watching a movie but Megan suspected that they had fallen asleep.

“Max,” Lance said in a loud voice that made everyone go silent. “When are you planning on making an honest woman out of my sister?”

Megan gasped. Corrine nudged her husband. The rest of the family stared.

  “Yeah Max,” Jaime said. “When?”

“Jaime!” Princess Ariana cried, staring at her husband, aghast.

Megan fought down a giggle. Her brothers no longer surprised her with anything they said, especially Lance and Jaime. It was so nice having Jaime and Ariana home for a few weeks. Ariana was pregnant and she would not be able to travel when her pregnancy started showing.

When a member of the royal family of Asencia was expecting, extra care was given to the mother to be.

“I’m waiting for the right moment,” Max grumbled. “But you lot had to go and spoil it... I’ve had the engagement ring in my pocket for two months.”

They all looked at him, stunned. Megan’s eyes filled with tears of joy. She had worried a few times over the last year that maybe Max was not sure about their relationship. Silly man had had the ring for two months. If only he knew, any moment was the right moment.

“Two months?” Ariana said. “You’re a patient man.”

  “More like crazy,” Jaime murmured.

  “Why?” Sean said.

“I told you, I was waiting for the perfect moment,” Max says.

Megan angled her body towards him, caught his gaze and held it. “Now is a perfect time,” Megan said softly.

Max dropped to his knees and took her hand. “I loved you from the first moment I saw you.”

“That’s against the law Max. She was eight years old. You might want to rephrase that,” Dean said.

Beads of perspiration formed on Max’s forehead. “I loved you a long time ago, Megan.”

“That’s a ten Max,” Lance said.

“I think you’re the most beautiful woman I’ve ever met, inside and out.” His face grew fierce. “When I heard how that idiot treated you, I wanted to smash his face.”

“Zero,” Adrian said. “Try again and don’t bring up the past in a proposal.”

“Ignore them,” Megan said. “They’re fools.”

“I know. Too bad they’re family,” Max said. “I just want to say that I’ll make you happy every day of my life. You’re everything to me Megan. Always were and always will be.”

  Everyone cheered.

  “Dang Max!” Lance said.

Megan had no eyes for anyone else. Max pulled her to her feet and closed his big hands around hers.

“I love you Max and yes, even if you didn’t ask, I’d love to be your wife,” Megan said.
