"Let's me for lunch. I'll pay."

"No sorry. Lunch will be your prime thinking time. I want you to eat alone."

  "Mike!"

"It's time to be brave Merle. Keep your focus.""

  "May I kiss you?"

Instead of replying Mike kissed her on the lips, lightly and sweetly. He felt her lips open just a tad.

He pulled away and she breathed, "Omigod, that was beautiful."

He just smiled, turned and walked off, muttering, "I'm so happy" pitched loud enough for her to hear.

Sara Lynch was left alone at the lunch table in the office cafe with Mike. He thought that was just by chance until she asked, "Are you attached?"

"Not at the moment. I'm divorced."

The deputy sales manager said, "There is talk you might be gay?"

"Who me?" Mike reacted in horror.

"What kind of answer is that?""

He recovered and said, "Date me and find out."

She giggled nervously and said she was married.

"Are you attempting to tell me you're getting all the sex you can handled?"

She reddened and said she'd never been taken to the limit.

  "Anal as well?"

She whispered to him to keep his voice down.

"Six hours with me and you'll be legless."

Sara turned white and pleaded, "Mike can we forget we had this conversation?"

"Yeah right but if you'd like to drop into the men's with me now I'll give you a quickie."

"Mike please that's enough. You'll have to excuse me. I have er an appointment."

"Off she hurried and Mike smiled, believing there would be no more talk about him being gay.

Merle only just made the bus next morning. She sat beside Mike and he took her hand.

  "Well?"

"I took him on and he denied everything of course and jumped up and down and threatened to hit me. But he didn't. He smashed one of my best vases instead."

  "Good."

Merle gaped and said he didn't understand. The vase was worth several hundred dollars.

"Not any more," he grinned, squeezing her hand. "It also means you really got to him."

"Well he appeared shattered when I yelled either go and consult a shrink or divorce me. He yelled I was no fucking good as a companion and was always whining about not getting enough sex."

  Mike eyed her.

"Er of course that was a damn lie. He slept in the spare room and didn't come out to join me for breakfast. So after eating and clearing away I left for work without seeing him. I await his response with interest."

Mike asked what did he think his response would be?

"He'll not want to do anything, hoping my accusation will go away but if he takes that attitude it will come up and bite him. I'll divorce him. So what do you think of that?"

"You do the right thing for you. No one else counts. You already know I reckon your marriage is over."

Merle leaned over to him and whispered, "You are keen for you and I to have sex, aren't you?"

  "Yes."

  Merle's tongue tip protruded. "When?"

  "As soon as you're ready."

"I'm picking that will be quite soon. After I file for divorce I won't consider having sex with you as been adultery."

Mike told her he admired her and she must concentrate on making the best decisions to assure herself of a good future.

They kissed at the bus stop and this time her pushed his tongue forward and she opened to admit him. There tongues touched and they both felt the thrill.

Walking to his office Mike wondered if his future included fucking her and often, unaware that later in the morning his future would be discussed.

  CHAPTER 2

Marie Edwards was invited to the office of CEO Bryan Varda for mid-morning coffee.

"So you wish to wind down for your final two years with us before retirement?" he said, referring to Marie's email proposal.

"Yes. The business is growing and I've been finding my workload is over-stretching my capacity."

"And you feel your deputy is a possible threat to you?"

Bryan grinned when she remained tight-lipped. "Come on Marie, we have worked here for nineteen years, joining within months of each other. Make the admission and I'll help you."

Her eyes narrowed and she fired. "Mike Jones is good enough to take your job."

"Well he must learn more about our operation first. I could be persuaded to take early retirement with the bait of being made chairman of the board."

  "Is that likely?"

"Yes within the next couple of years. Very well. You can head new business and troubleshooting department and you'll have to accept a salary drop. I'll reassign April to become Mike's deputy is he agrees to take your position."

  "Do you think he will?"

"Yes, his present salary is not much more than half of what he was drawing before he came here following his divorce and paying off the huge debts his wife had racked up."

  * * *

The previous evening Mike did the dishes while his parents watched TV and went for a long walk and thought about his future. It was not going well. He was in a hole with his career, appearing to be without prospects until his boss retired in two perhaps four years. He had struck it lucky in meeting Merle who appeared to be a really good sort but who knew what was in her head. Yes what was going on in her head?

Taking the pessimistic view Mike thought she'd fuck him once in appreciation and then it would be goodbye Mike, get lost.

Christ why bother? He decided to resign in the morning and after working out his notice would head off somewhere to attempt to make another start. His last pay meant he had enough to return half of the $8500 his father had loaned him, that money removing him from the brink of threatened bankruptcy. He'd be left with enough cash to live on for a month until he won a job in some other city.

Mike took a call from Merle.

"Hi is it okay to talk?"

  "Yes I'm out walking."

"I should be doing that with you."

Why would she want to be out walking with him? Mike shrugged and she said she was in a cab on the way to her sister's house.

  "Are you okay?"

"There was some push and shove and yelling from both of use. I'll have a bruise on my back from when he pushed me out the door violently."

  "Come and stay with me."

"No this is fine. I don't want him associating you with me."

Mike asked coldly why was that.

"He could try to hurt you."

  Mike growled bring it on.

"I don't believe he would Mike but if he ran you down in his vehicle I'd be wrong wouldn't I? Stay away from him Mike."

Mike shrugged and said he didn't know she had a sister living in the city and she said there were a lot of things he didn't know about her. "I won't be at the bus stop in the morning. In fact that won't occur until he vacates the house. After he really lost it he was muttering about moving in with his daughter who lives a few hundred miles west of here."

"So he is reconciled to divorce?"

"No I told him tonight I was not going to sit round and wait, that I would initiate proceedings. That's when he lost his cool."

  "He must love you?"

  "Ha!"

Later that night Mike attempted to hand a check for $4250 to his dad.

"What's that for, you have been paying towards your upkeep?"

"It's the half of the money you gave me to bail me out to end my financial troubles. I'll pay you the remainder in a couple of months. I'm really grateful dad."

"You keep the money. We have more than enough money."

  "Dad you can't..."

"You heard you father," his mom said proudly. "You two have never got along well but he's always acted like a proper father to you."

Mike hugged his dad who whacked him over the ear and grinning hold Mike to stop behaving like a girl. He knew that would make his mom think where was
the girl in Mike's life. Well perhaps he'd be ready to tell them soon but knew they'd not like learning she was married. It would be best to front up with Merle before spilling the beans about her. They would love her first sight because Merle was that kind of women. He must ask Merle for her thoughts on adoption.

At the bust stop next morning there was no Merle of course. He'd known she wouldn't be there and was staggered by the huge sense of loss he felt. This bewildered him because he thought her interest in her was confined to helping her solve her domestic problem and to then wallow in sex with her.

Holy shit, he thought, having difficulty to believe this situation. What does this grief mean?

He analyzed his feelings and concluded he'd fallen for Merle without knowing it? He looked at the traffic to avoid thinking any more about that because he was not ready to review such thoughts, considering their relationship was both superficial and tenuous.

At 9:45 Mike sat in front of the CEO sipping coffee and wondering what this was about? He was to be given a special assignment perhaps? He didn't believe he was in line for a reprimand.

"Well Mike how long have you been with us?" Bryan Varda asked, looking down at an open folder.

Mike decided not to reply, knowing Bryan was looking at the answer in front of him.

Bryan grinned and said that Marie had requested to be moved sideways and had accepted a spot that would mean quite a demotion but she was happy about that.

Looking out the side window Bryan said, "And so I'm having to think about her replacement."

  "And that's why I'm here?"

Bryan said gravely, "An internal promotion appears likely. Any thoughts?"

Mike's mind slipped into gear. After two years as head of admin he could chase a much larger position at corporate level.

"I'd want April Chong as my deputy."

Bryan was unable to conceal his surprise. "Why Mrs Chong?"

"She is wasted where she is now; that woman has talent to burn."

  "So you know her?"

"Only through occasional liaison. She lacks business experience and I noticed the family photo on her desk she was two under 10-year-olds. That suggests it's a good time for foundation work and perhaps to be groomed to be your natural successor."

"Won't you be competing for my job?"

"I aim to eventually get back to where I was before my downfall."

"I see and I can't fault you for adopting that mission. I'd do the same. Well you accept my offer to head admin?"

"Yes and thanks for your confidence in me. I enjoy working here. You run a good ship."

  * * *

Ed Chapman used to be a strong, proud man but no longer. When Anna had divorced him after catching him pumping into her twin sister that had been a real shock and he'd become surly and had been really turned off women until he took on a new supervisor for his accounts department Merle Walters.

His mind went back to how that period of depression ended. One day Ed had entered Merle's office without knocking after 5:00 to find her with her foot on her chair and she was adjusted a stocking suspender.

Ed had an instant erection at the sight of the beautifully formed leg that looked so creamy above the stocking top. He knew it must have been two years at least since he'd had an instant erection.

  He didn't back out.

Merle had looked at him in surprise and then said hi Ed and kept on finishing what she was doing.

Ed couldn't believe she'd hadn't hauled down her skirt and apologized or perhaps even saying he ought to have knocked.

She'd finished and pulled down her skirt and said, "Well how may I help? I'm on my way home."

"I-I thought you would have gone. I was just dropped off these approved accounts and to leave a note apologizing I didn't get them to you by 3:00 as scheduled."

"Well you are the boss; you can do anything."

Merle was thirty-two and by far the most attractive woman of the twenty-two in Ed's employment. He licked his lips and invited her to join him at a bar for a drink and she said yes rather than using the feeble excuse she had to go home. He knew she lived in a studio apartment by herself.

Ed thought back to that time eight years ago. He realized she believed he was simply attempting to establish a friendship. They fell into a pattern of going out together for a drink every Thursday night and one night they stayed longer than usual and he'd said could he kiss her and she simply turned up her face and closed her eyes.

Eight months later they quietly married.

Now the bitch had gone cold on him, accusing him of psychological bullying. Well he was bored, despite becoming wealthy after selling his business. He'd wanted her to quite her new job and go on a world cruise with him. He pushed and pushed her to resign but she finally gave it to him straight, "Go on a two-and-and-half month cruise virtually locked in a cabin with only you twenty-four hours a day...do you think I'm mad? My work gives me a taste of freedom."

Ed knew he complained about almost everything she did including complaining about her wearing too much makeup and wearing her skirts and dresses with hems too high and refusing to take money for him and when they had sex she never wanted to stop and he'd take all day next day to recover. And now she wanted him to seek medical help to deal with his fixations. His fucking what?

Christ he was Ed Chapman, successful businessman. Who the hell was she? She'd even lost her respect for him.

  Fucking bitch.

Ed had thrown her out of the house two nights again and was now missing her terribly. But he knew if he took her back nothing would change. He needed a new start.

Tossing the last two bags into the back of his BMW, Ed took the final look at house that would be sold as part of the divorce settlement when Merle got off her ass to initiate that process. He would stay with his married younger sister Emily, knowing he could count on her to jerk him off when he felt the need of a bit of sexual fraternization. Emily loved him squirting on to her tits, er unless she had become prim and proper with age.

"Fucking Merle," he snorted, thinking of her driving him out of his home and marriage. She the hell did she think she was? If anyone was psycho she was the one.

He sped over an intersection thinking shit was that a red light he'd just gone through?

Traffic was backed up waiting at the next three intersections and he went through behind vehicles and got onto the secondary highway safely and put his foot down on the gas pedal in a hurry to be with his sympathetic sister.

Approached a bend Ed saw an eighteen-wheeler loaded with concrete pipes approaching. He decided to play fighter pilot and peered through the windscreen to line up his bonnet badge with the truck and then intended to push his horn button to blast off a rocket. Gee he hadn't done this since he was a kid sitting in his dad's pick-up in the garage and shooting at marks on the wall.

Then Ed made a fatal mistake. Instead of simply lining up and tapping the horn he lined up and accelerated.

"Jesus," he cried, breaking heavily and turning away from the looming road freighter.

His vehicle loaded with modern driving technology didn't overturn under the abrupt wrenching of the steering well. It straightened and left the road stabilized.

"I'm in trouble," Ed yelled, uttering his last words as the vehicle arched out and down on to rocks almost 250 ft below.

Merle called Mike six hours later.

"I've just come away from identifying Ed's body."

Mike's head shot back. What had she done to Ed? Fortunately commonsense prevailed. So he replied, "How are you?"

"Terrible. I'm at my sister's home. Ed died because of my association with you."

"Okay think what you like. So what happened?"

"He lost control of his vehicle on the highway, narrowly missing a full-laden truck and plunged into a canyon dying immediately."

"That's too bad. How may I help?"

"By staying away from me and don't come to the funeral. I'm then going away for at least three months."

  "I'l
l miss you greatly."

  She cut the call.

Fifteen minutes later a very upset Mike, conceding Merle would be even more upset, turned on the office TV set for the headline news and watched the report on the highway fatality of 'recently retired high profile businessman Ed Chapman who'd lost control of his vehicle with fatal consequences'. Pictures of the mangled SUV indicated no one could have survived that crash. The reporter spoke authoritatively of the notorious slippery bend on that section of the highway.

"Poor Merle," Mike lamented, thinking she ought to be in his arms and being lovingly calmed and comforted. Ed's bad driving wasn't anything to do with her decision to ditch Ed. The stupid clown was off his rocker.

Almost everyone had left the office promptly at 5:00 because a storm was brewing and they would have to make their way home in sleet.

The door of the women's restroom was ajar and the lights were on. Mike opened the door to switch off the lights in case the cleaners stayed home because of the storm warning.

"Hi Mike," smiled Valerie Hawkins, PA to the director of sales and marketing. She was bared to the waist. Cone in."

"I-I thought the facility was unoccupied and was a-about to douse the lights."

"I shopped for a couple of new bras today and can't decide what one looks best on me. Will you give your opinion?"

"Yeah if that's what you want," Mike said without thinking. He eyed the heavy hangers and felt his dick stir.

"I've fancied you from afar," Valerie confided as Mike closed the door. He thought oh crap and his dick hardened.

He leaned against the row of basins and she tried on one and then the other.

  "The first one."

"Does the sight of flesh through the lace give you're a hard-on?"

"You have a fiance Valerie, ask him that."

She smiled and said he wasn't there was he?

Valerie licked her lips. "Is that the outline of a hard-on I can see?"

  "It might be."

"Would it like to be wrapped in some warm pussy?"

  "Valerie," Mike said weakly.

"We were emailed late this afternoon you have been promoted to head of admin. I desire to be the first of us to fuck you Mike. I was aware you are nearly always the last to leave the office."
