“Dusk said the red lights made the room look slutty, but it’s just Christmassy, isn’t it?”

Mage snorted, and the way his face relaxed in an expression of wonder had Dawn’s heart burning with glee. “Dusk has a one track mind. Just ignore him,” he said, before resting the backpack on the bed. It was a double, an improvement from the narrow one Dawn had slept in for most of his life. He’d decided to upgrade because of comfort, but now his decision would serve another purpose.

Mage stepped closer and pulled Dawn into his arms, his warm hand cradling the back of Dawn’s head in a gesture of tenderness that made up for all the mean jokes back at the house. “It’s beautiful. How am I supposed to outdo you now?”

Dawn bit his lip and stood on his toes. “I mean… there is a lot of mistletoe…”

A smile brightened Mage’s features, and he ran both his hands down Dawn’s forearms until their fingers were entwined, and he leaned down for the kiss. His mouth tasted of cocoa, sugar, and vanilla, and Dawn was already obsessed with the way those flavors mingled with the usual sweetness of his lover’s lips.

Mage pulled him close, and even once the kiss ended, the physical connection remained a thread Dawn wasn’t willing to let go of. He wished to never have to let go of Mage’s hand. They belonged together like milk and cookies.

When their eyes met, the warm brown of Mage’s irises sucked him in until he no longer knew what to do or say. He was startled when his lover’s velvet voice put an end to the comfortable silence. “This might be my happiest Christmas to date.”

Dawn hugged Mage tightly, amazed by Mage’s sheer size and sturdiness. “Impossible. You’re going to make me very self-centred if you keep saying things like that.” He sighed and put his cheek against Mage’s shoulder. Now that the barriers he’d built in his mind were gone, he no longer felt uncomfortable about being physically close, and it was such a revelation he still wondered how he’d lived without it sometimes.

There wasn’t a single thing about Mage that made him even remotely scared. Everything about him—from his strength and reliable character to the handsome lines of his face drew Dawn in. Intimacy, touching Mage’s cock still felt naughty rather than entirely normal, but he loved it nevertheless.

“I wanted to talk to you about something,” Mage said in the end, pulling Dawn to the bed.

“Mm?” Dawn seized the opportunity and pounced on Mage, pushing him down to the covers he’d washed himself in gingerbread-scented washing powder for the occasion.

Mage rolled them over with ease, but he wouldn’t talk before he spread the red and green blanket over their bodies. The heater had only been turned on, so the treehouse was still on the cool side, but under the covers, their body heat quickly created a bubble of warmth. Dawn got comfortable with his head on the pillow and watched Mage set down his glasses before facing him in the same way. His toes gently nudged Dawn’s shins.

“Just tell me if you don’t want to discuss this yet, okay?”

Dawn sucked his lips in, heart pounding. Of course. They’d been on the same page about so many things. It was obvious Mage would have thought about getting married too. “Y-yes, sure, but, we’ve known each other so long, it doesn’t really matter that we’ve only been dating a few months. It feels like much longer, doesn’t it?”

Mage relaxed and moved his hand under the blanket, until it resurfaced on Dawn’s cheek. “Yes. So I hope you don’t take this the wrong way. I just feel like some things need to be said. I’m not out to make you uncomfortable.”

Dawn’s heart stopped beating altogether, or beat so fast he couldn’t recognize a rhythm anymore. Was this not about marriage then? Was this some bad thing that would end up ruining their future together? Was there a problem with their relationship he hadn’t noticed because it was his first ever? “Oh. Okay. Did I… do something?”

Mage scowled and briefly rubbed his face into the pillow. “No, no. Please, don’t get nervous. Everything is all right. I just... want to know some things so I can plan out stuff in my head.”

“Like a wedding?” Dawn blurted out, regretting the hasty words the moment they left his mouth. But they just happened to be on the tip of his tongue and fell out beyond his control.

Mage stilled, only to brighten up with a soft smile. He pulled himself up and kissed the tip of Dawn’s nose. “Okay, you surprised me there. No, that’s not what I wanted to ask, but I guess better to discuss those plans sooner than later.”

  Oh no.

  Oh no.

Dawn wrapped his arms around Mage’s neck and hugged him. “Oh, my God. I’m sorry. It’s too quick, isn’t it? It was just in my head and I projected it on you.”

Mage exhaled and rubbed Dawn’s back in a way so soothing it had him melting into the touch within seconds. “I think it is a bit too early to actually do it, but it doesn’t hurt talking about the future, right?” He slowly leaned back so they could look into each other’s eyes. There was apprehension in his expression, and Dawn longed to kiss it away. But he remained still, knowing it was his lover’s time to talk.

“When I envisioned my future, I thought I would like to get married, and then have one or two kids. Do things right. Have this… real home to return to.”

“Are you worried about not being able to have your own children with the person you love?”

Mage blinked, and the panic spreading across his body like a shockwave made Dawn recoil slightly. “What? No. No, not at all.” Mage cleared his throat and shifted even closer, until his warm forehead touched Dawn’s. “I guess this was my clumsy way of asking if you want kids too. Not like… now or necessarily within the next few years, but in the future.”

Dawn smiled with relief. "Yes, I want to have kids one day. Maybe even more than two. It’s just so easy for me to see the future with you.”

Mage swallowed loudly, then swiftly found Dawn’s hand and squeezed it. “Yes. It all falls into place when I know you will be in the picture.”

“You would be the best dad, with healthy snacks for every occasion.”

A house with a garden. A swing attached to a tall tree, children playing in an inflatable pool in the backyard, Mage’s arms around him—the vision was overwhelming with how attainable it was, even if the future it depicted was still distant.

Mage grinned and pressed a kiss to Dawn’s forehead. “We’d go on road trips in a camper and teach the kids how to grow their own fruit.”

Dawn pulled closer under the warm blanket and snuggled up to Mage. “Yes! And they’d have the best crazy uncles. And we’d get a dog, right?”

“And a cat. I always wanted a cat, but my sister was allergic,” Mage said, rubbing Dawn’s cheekbone with the same care he seemed to have for their future plans. When his lips briefly stilled, and the handsome smile faded, worry found its way back to Dawn’s heart for a moment, but Mage kissed it away before it could have been voiced. “I never loved anyone like I love you. Everything finally makes sense. You were the missing brick I needed to make my dreams into reality.”

Dawn lost his breath for a moment, unable to communicate just how much his own feelings mirrored Mage’s. There was no one more genuine, more amazing, more loving. If Dawn could, he would have melted into Mage so that they could be together forever, entwined as one body.

“I’ve been incomplete without you. You’re the only one I ever needed, and the only one I will ever need. No one else would do.”

Mage cupped his face in both warm palms, and as his rough fingertips drew tiny circles on Dawn’s cheeks and scalp, their lips connected in the sweetest, most loving of kisses. Their limbs locked together so naturally neither had to even think about it, and when Mage slowly rolled on top of Dawn, combing his fingers through his hair, the world beyond the treehouse ceased to exist.

Dawn loved Mage’s weight, and he closed his eyes with a smile. “What did you want to talk about?” he murmured into Mage’s ear, who stiffened next to him before pulling himself up so they could see each other.

“I wanted… I wanted to ask you if you were interested in maybe having penetrative sex sometime.”

Heat flooded Dawn’s face and he blinked too fast. The moment his mind filled with the many fantasies he’d had about this, it became even harder to speak, and he feared Mage could read his mind. Then again, wouldn’t that have been easier than actually having to answer?

“Y-yes,” he whispered so quietly he could barely hear himself.

  Chapter 12

Mage couldn’t believe he’d actually said it out loud. The moment their conversation had drifted to future plans, his worries about their sex life seemed so insignificant he’d decided to come back to the topic another time. But Dawn had asked him a direct question, and he couldn’t bring himself to lie.

The flush on Dawn’s cheeks was bright red, his eyes wide, but Mage knew that in the scope of all the other things they’d discussed, Dawn might feel he should go with whatever Mage wanted. He’d always been all too willing to sacrifice for the sake of others, and numerous times voiced his worries that Mage was missing out on something by being with him. Just like Dawn’s thoughts had instantly moved in that direction when they started discussing children. Mage needed to stifle the wildfire before it consumed the good atmosphere.

“I get it, maybe it’s not the right time to talk about this. I know not all gay guys want to do anal, and that’s fine with me. I love what we do, and I respect whatever decision you make. I just wanted to make sure I have the right mental picture—” He stopped talking when Dawn held his face in both hands, watching him tenderly.

  “You’re not listening.”

  “Huh?”

“I want to. I didn’t really know how to broach the subject, but the truth is I have thought about it. Um… it’s… I don’t actually know if I’ll like it, but the idea,” he spoke more quietly, “turns me on.”

Mage’s brain scrambled, and he could only nod, like one of those silly bobblehead toys. Dawn wanted to try it. He wanted to have Mage’s cock— Wait. Not necessarily. Dawn was a guy, so maybe he’d been fantasising about being on the other end of this sexual equation. About this Mage wasn’t entirely certain, and he felt ashamed about never once giving it much thought before. “So… did you think about the role you’d like to play in that?” he tried, in a pathetically low voice.

Dawn’s cheeks were like two polished red apples, and Mage wanted to kiss all the sweetness off them. He nodded slowly, making the anticipation unbearable. “I… I want to feel you inside me. To… connect like that, you know?”

The innocent green eyes kept communicating to Mage about love, even if Dawn’s words spoke of things much more down to earth. Mage could finally breathe freely again.

“No pressure, but if you wanted to do this during my stay here… we could. I have everything with me.”

Dawn’s eyes were glued to Mage’s, and he seemed to have stopped breathing altogether, but didn’t move away by an inch. “Oh. So… tonight? Like, now?”

Mage froze, itching to say yes but afraid that he might be unwillingly pressuring Dawn into something he wasn’t completely ready for. “If you want. I just wanted to put it out there.”

Dawn looked away with the tiniest frown, and seeing him consider this so seriously had to be the single cutest and most arousing thing on the planet. Mage couldn’t help it. Just thinking about Dawn’s moans made his dick fill.

“I do want to try it,” Dawn said in the end, rubbing Mage’s thigh. “If we don’t do it now we might not have another opportunity like this in days, and that kind of tension might just kill me.”

Mage found himself nodding again, his lips dry from the tension. “But no pressure. It’s okay if you change your mind,” he said even as he slowly rolled his hips between Dawn’s thighs.

Dawn bit his lip with a smile and grinded back against him. “Okay. I’m… a bit scared, but really excited.”

Mage gave him a shaky smile and kneeled, gently pulling Dawn into a sitting position. “Me too. And I will get even more so when I see you naked,” he whispered, before pulling off his top. The air in the treehouse had gotten a bit warmer, but anticipation made goosebumps erupt all over his torso.

Dawn didn’t have to be coaxed and pulled his top off with a smile. Seeing all the beauty spots dotting Dawn’s pale skin always made Mage drool a little bit. Any of the guys he fancied were always on the small side, and Dawn personified all the qualities Mage liked so much. He had dainty fingers, a cute nose, long hair, and the most beautiful green eyes.

“Have you ever done this with a woman?”

Mage swallowed, suddenly self-conscious. “No. I mean… penetration—yes, but not like this. But I read a lot of instructions,” he added to reassure his lover that he wasn’t just going into it blindly.

Dawn took a deep breath and hugged him. “I trust you. You’re the kind of guy who actually reads the instructions for every new phone.” He kissed Mage’s throat, sending tingles of excitement down his chest.

“I hope that doesn’t mean I’m boring,” Mage said, trapping Dawn’s hands on the pillow. He wanted him all to himself, the prettiest, tastiest dish laid out on the plate for consumption.

Dawn gasped, but entwined their legs. “Never. You know I don’t do well with the unexpected.” His hair spilled over the pillow, a few dark strands on his face, and Mage couldn’t believe all this innocence, this beauty, this loving, wholesome young man with a soul so pure music came out of it as if by magic, was his, and would be his forever.

He wanted to kiss each and every beauty spot on Dawn’s body. He had so many that Mage hoped to one day draw lines between them with chocolate and cream, only to lick them off before getting to the main dish. “Hope you were expecting this,” Mage said and slowly pulled down Dawn’s zipper without looking away from his beautiful face, because that gorgeous smile was far too enticing to miss.

“It pretty much had to happen, right?” Dawn arched his hips up to allow Mage access. His laughter sounded a tiny bit nervous, but Mage loved it all the same. A selfish part of him wanted to hoard Dawn to himself so he would never leave. He was a dragon, and Dawn—his precious treasure.

He left soft, fleeting kisses all over the pale chest, trailing between the dark spots peppered all over it until he reached the open jeans and gently rubbed his nose against the denim.

Dawn gasped. He was so responsive, giving him head was pure pleasure. During the times Mage had sucked him, he did let his hands venture to Dawn’s ass, but tonight, things would go to a whole new level, and he couldn’t wait to feel Dawn’s body clench around his cock.

Mage smiled at him and pulled down his pants, removing them slowly, along with his underwear, because he didn’t want to wait for their skin to touch everywhere. Dawn was perfect, and Mage would change nothing about him. “What should I do with you…?”

Dawn laughed and covered his face with one hand, playfully pushing on Mage’s shoulder. “Tease!”

Mage smirked and squeezed Dawn’s cock in one hand, while opening his own pants with the other. This was his night. “I can’t help myself. You’re so cute when you’re aroused.”

Dawn’s breathing got quicker. “That is so wrong. How can I be both cute and sexy at the same time?”

But he could, and that was exactly what Mage thought when he saw Dawn’s lips parting for gasps, cheeks flushed, and cock growing. He kicked off his jeans, and leaned over Dawn’s dick as soon as he was free. “I don’t know. What’s your secret?” he whispered, before pulling his tongue from the base all the way to the head.

Dawn’s fingers found their way to Mage’s dreadlocks, and he moaned the moment Mage sucked on the cockhead. Sex with women was about exploring a body so different than his own, but with Dawn, he was allowed to draw on knowledge of the male form. It meant he could more easily push Dawn into arousal.

Dawn bit back another moan. “A skillful lover?”

“Flattery,” Mage said, moving south to tease Dawn’s balls. His fingers kept drawing
circles on Dawn’s thighs, and they might as well have been vibrating judging by the way Dawn trembled, curling his toes and arching on the bed. The cool air was completely forgotten.

“No. I can feel how much you love me in your touch,” Dawn said, rocking against Mage’s face in yet another display of cute-and-horny. Mage wished he could answer, but he was too absorbed by the flavor of pre-cum already staining his tongue. By the time he lay down on Dawn and kissed his lips, they were both hard and burning in the sheets.

Mage nipped on the side of Dawn’s jaw and dipped his hand into his backpack. This was the moment of truth. “Shall we… try?”

Dawn was tense, but he didn’t hesitate before nodding so vigorously more hair fell into his face. Mage had no doubt he’d need to take the lead if he wanted Dawn comfortable and was dubious even about how much porn Dawn had seen in his life. It couldn’t have been much unless Dawn harbored some dirty secrets. Which was doubtful.

Offering Dawn a reassuring smile, he fought the confusing fog of arousal and worry as he rummaged through his supplies to eventually produce anal lube and condoms. “So I was thinking about positions, and maybe we could just try spooning, so that you can relax, and we can hug...”

Dawn mouthed a ‘yes’ which wasn’t that surprising given the fact that he was the most eager little spoon. They fumbled under the blanket, but eventually Mage pressed behind Dawn, enjoying the view on his lover’s small but round backside. Dawn had beauty spots even there--tiny dark dots on the pale skin. He shivered when Mage slid his hand between his thighs and massaged between them.

Mage sighed with emotion and moved his nose down Dawn’s back, until he reached a constellation of dark spots on his buttocks and kissed each one. His lover’s ass twitched in response, and he quickly opened the lubricant, eager to seize the opportunity. He poured plenty into his hand and kept it there while listening to the frantic gasps above. “I’m so excited,” he whispered against Dawn’s skin.
