  Two Months Later

"Mmmm." Declan moaned and pressed back against the hard shaft currently trying to pierce his body. His eyes fluttered open and he twisted his head to the side.

"Morning, love." He met Liam's mouth in a lazy kiss.

"Morning yourself," Liam whispered and his shaft broke through Declan's guardian muscle.

Liam took it slow, no need to rush. Saturday morning dawned and neither of them needed to be anywhere.

Declan pushed back when Liam withdrew his huge cock and slowly rocked forward once again. Liam's hand reached around and gripped Declan's aching length.

He started a maddening pace that matched his thrusts. Declan relaxed against Liam's chest and let his mate have his way with him. His body sung as desire built and his balls drew tight against his body.

Declan panted, his hand gripped Liam's hip behind him as his mate continued to rock into him. Liam squeezed his first tight and bit deep into the side of his neck and Declan flew over the edge, tumbling freely, as he gave his body over to the ministrations of his mate. Pearly white cum shot from his cock, covering his stomach and Liam's hand. His mate thrust hard two more time before going still, his low groan muffled by Declan's neck as his cock twitched deep within the confines of Declan's body.

They lay together, relaxing in each other's arms until their bodies released them from their knotted embrace.

Declan whimpered when Liam's softened cock slipped from his body, but he rolled over and kissed his mate properly.

  "Good morning."

  "Morning, love. Shower?" Liam asked.

Hmm. His mate, naked and wet? He couldn't think of anything better.

Declan lay in bed for a little while so Liam could get the shower started. His thoughts, as they inevitably did, went to his brother. Tommy had finally woken up the day after they had brought him back to Atherton and cried while Declan held him close. In broken sobs Tommy recounted what he remembered of his ordeal. Declan's heart ached for his brother. He hated his former Alpha for destroying Tommy's youthful exuberance.

His brother had changed. He spent the majority of his days alone, quiet and withdrawn. He jumped at shadows and constantly woke throughout the night, screaming from nightmares. Declan would do anything he could to help Tommy deal with what had happened.

Tommy wasn't ready to mate Ben yet. Once Tommy stopped being so afraid Declan hoped things would change.

He still lived with Declan and Liam. Ben understood and willingly gave Tommy all the time he needed. Thank God.

It didn't stop the man from coming round constantly or calling to check up on Tommy though.

Declan couldn't blame the Alpha and thought it actually kind of sweet. He just hoped Tommy would come round and see Ben for the loving, caring man Declan had come to know.

Frank Schmidt had taken over the Cairns pack with his two Betas, Glen and Adrian. They had found and dealt with Gregory and Barry. Declan had no idea how they handled it, but he trusted Liam when he said there would be no more trouble from them.

The police had received an anonymous tip about the former Alpha's house. When they searched it, drugs and money totalling nearly half a million were found. Declan had no idea where Wallis had gotten it all, but at least it wouldn't make it to the streets.

Kegan Wallis's mauled body had been discovered in the woods on the opposite side of town a week after Ben

had killed him, officially closing the police investigation.

His death had been ruled an animal attack. The detectives had no idea how right they were.

Liam had dropped a bomb on him the previous week when he had told Declan they couldn't have sex for the day. When he asked why, Liam explained that, once mated, there was the possibility of getting pregnant if they made love on the day of the new moon. Declan still had trouble wrapping his brain around that little piece of information but thought it wouldn't completely be out of the realm of possibility for them and their future. He would love nothing more than to give his mate the family he had always wanted, but never voiced.

"Babe, are you coming?" Liam called out from the bathroom.

"No, but I will be shortly," Declan mumbled under his breath as he got out of bed and headed towards his mate. Happy in the knowledge no matter what life threw at him, Liam would be by his side.

  Always.

What Queer Magazine Online Says About Unexpected Mate:

Unexpected Mate is the first in a new werewolf shifting series from Toni Griffin. Set amongst smaller towns in what appeared to me to be a more rural backdrop gives it a special charm. I also enjoyed how Tori writes the brothers all living together yet separate from Mum and Dad. This gives another layer to the story that is almost a bit "boys gone wild", yet creates a wonderful sense of pack and camaraderie.

Marcus is a wolf determined not to be gay, so therefore he mustn't be. Dating female members of the pack and sleeping with them only confirms that, right? Wrong.

The abrupt about face from denial to acceptance is well written, playing true to form as his brother's step forward to provide a much needed dose of reality. Marcus is a protective character, showing intensity with all emotions, but also displaying a fun-loving side. This fun-loving edge is the perfect foil for Brian.

When we first meet Brian, he has been exiled from his own pack. I connected with him quite quickly. Empathy was a powerful motivator as feelings of misplaced trust, trepidation, resentment and a basic feeling of fed up mix together in a volatile package. Brian shows true depth of emotion as the plot line develops. Contentment, tenderness and a side order of cheeky are the result, making Brian a very likeable character.

It is obvious there will be further instalments to this series and I, for one, can't wait to read them. I would recommend this story to anyone who enjoys shape-shifter or paranormal stories written in a contemporary style.
