“Shit, that’s the last thing I need to hear.” He glanced left and right. Picking up the pace, he forced Sable to hurry to keep up with him. “For now, let’s concentrate on going home and starting your training. Once we do that, then we can pick our fights.”
“Agreed,” she said and drew him closer as they walked.
“Why do I sense that you’re pacifying me?” his voice rumbled into ear.
“I’m not,” she said. “But come fiery Hell, vampires, Furies, or whatever else, I’m going to get my daughter back.”
He smiled down at her. “I love you, baby girl. Don’t ever doubt that.”
“Back atcha, babe.” She laughed. “Together, we’re unstoppable, and we have twice the magic.”
“Our love is magic,” he whispered and kissed the shell of her ear.
