The Hummingbird:Feet On The Ground Page 9

by Jessica Kylie Nichols-Vernon

and all around charm. That however is another story, one I hope to tell one day if anyone’s really interested.

  About the Author

I hope you enjoyed what was my first commercially available novella, until it became free.

My name is Jessica Kylie Nichols-Vernon and I’m known in some online circles as HawlSera. Much like Michelle in my story I’m a pre-op transgender and a very serious spiritualist. This is my first ebook and truth be told I originally only wanted to do Head In The Clouds (part 2, which I’ll still do) but I felt like doing more than a few sentences for the backstory. If you have any questions, comments, concerns, or desire to buy the movie rights to this story for tons of cash dollars (as if that could happen :P) email me at [email protected] below is a brief Q and A. I hope you enjoyed Part 1 "Feet On The Ground." And are looking forward to Part 2 "Head In The Clouds"

Q: That ending... did they just turn into birds and fly away? Jessica are you on the drugs?

A: Only if you're offering. Originally it was just going to be a story about a society that had become birds following a disaster, but I felt it would be a lot of fun to make a prequel to that and have it be part one of the story.

  Q: You're transgender? Does that mean you're a dude in a dress?

A: No I'm a woman with a body I despise. One day I’ll have my surgery.. When the stars are properly aligned. I pray that day comes sooner rather than later. I’m tired of being not the real me.

Q: What made you want to start writing ebooks for Amazon?

A: Well I normally write furry stories for a mailing list and its associated site, and I still do, but being a cashier at Wal-Mart means that money is tight. I need surgery, I need a car, so my friend who shall remain anonymous in respect for his privacy told me about Kindle Unlimited and figured I could let a few of my stories be Amazon Exclusive for a paycheck. Sides, it’d be fun to see how I appeal to a mainstream audience. Am I the greatest thing since JK Rowling picked up the pen or I am the most incompetent and illiterate piece of trash to sit at a keyboard? Or am I simply meh? Well it’d be a lot of fun to find out.

Q: Are you some kind of furry?

A: Yes I am, my fursona’s a tigress and as of writing this I’ve been to Anthrocon twice. It was the furry fandom along with some close friends It was the furry fandom itself and a series called “Paradise” that got me to start transitioning, but that’s a long story my friend.

Q: All of your characters are missing a major part of their bodies. Why did you do this?

A: Yes well, I do try to include main characters who aren’t the average run of the mill white straight cismale. I’m not saying it’s bad to include an able-bodied white cismale in the main cast, heck I’ve written stories starring them before. What I am say is that it’s good to challenge the norm where you see an opening for it.

Q: That part about Michelle wanting Isaac to wear a fox mask… was that a Five Nights at Freddy’s reference?

A: IT’S ME! (Yes… yes it was). If Scott Cawthon ever reads this, or Jonochrome for that matter. You rule, keep doing what you do man. Additionally the “Character leaves a light on and attacked” scene, was inspired by One Night at Flumpty’s 2.

Q: I have a problem with your political agenda and/or spiritual beliefs!

  A: Cool story bro.
