What He Needs (Salutem Book 1) Page 11

by Megs Pritchard

Deacon came back into the room, picked up the two devices he’d found and went outside. A minute later, he walked back in and shook his head.

“I found twelve in total, through every room in the house. It’s clean for now, but you’re going to have to monitor who you let in, and I’d suggest checking all your homes.”

“Shit. Someone we know is selling us out.” Frank stood and walked over to the window, staring out into the night sky. “Who could do this?”

“We need to start looking into people we thought of as friends as much as I hate to say it. Someone is betraying us.”

Cyan moaned when Alex licked over his head, his tongue dipping into the slit. Fuck, he loved the way Alex touched him.

He was naked, lying on Alex’s bed, letting Alex do whatever he wanted and damn, he was doing a good job of it. Cyan’s body shuddered, but he didn’t reach out to touch Alex because his hands were tied to the headboard.

He’d never even known he liked it, but being tied up and giving his body over to Alex to do what he wanted, had him almost blowing his load.

  “I love your taste.”

“And my dick loves the fact you love how it tastes.”

Alex grinned up at him. “Ready for me?”

“Always. Never know when you’re gonna jump me.”

“So, I can slide right in?”

  “Hmm, yeah, you can.”

Alex picked up Cyan’s legs and lay them over his thighs. With his eyes on Cyan’s, Alex slid right in and didn’t stop until his balls touched Cyan’s ass.

Cyan bit his lip and arched up. “I’m gonna come soon.”

“So am I! Hard and fast, Cy.”

  “Fuck, yeah.”

Cyan cried out as Alex pummeled his ass. Alex knew exactly where his hot spot was and hit it every damn time. Cyan moaned constantly, his body alive with sensation. There was nothing better than feeling his mate like this.

Alex leaned over him as they kissed, all wet and messy and Cyan loved it. Loved how Alex owned him completely. Cyan would die a happy shifter as long as he had his mate by his side or in his ass. He wasn’t too fussy which. All he knew was that Alex was the piece of him that had been missing in his life.

“Close,” Cyan muttered against Alex’s lips, and Alex responded by fucking him harder.

  “Gonna make you come.”

“Please,” Cyan begged. “Wanna come with your dick in my ass.”

Cyan keened when Alex hit his prostate again, and he shot everywhere, his orgasm rushing over him. Alex thrust a handful more times and then came, shooting deep in Cyan’s ass. Cyan lay on the bed, panting, his body covered in sweat and his heart beating frantically in his chest.

Alex collapsed on top of him, and Cyan kissed his cheek, then his lips as Alex turned to face him. Alex sat up and released the binds on Cyan’s wrists, then lay back down on top of him.

Cyan held him close, enjoying the weight on top of him. A reminder of what he had and who held his heart. He chuckled to himself. He was such a sucker for Alex. Alex only had to snap his fingers, and Cyan was there; and he loved it.

The more time he spent with Alex, the more he got to know the man he was, not the one he’d become because of his captivity.

  “When are you moving in?”

Alex lifted his head from Cyan’s chest. “You want me to?”

“Of course, I do. We’re mates.”

  “Tomorrow.”

  Cyan grinned. “Yeah?”

  “Yeah. Tomorrow.”

  “Damn, I love you, Alex.”

  “I love you too.”

  Chapter Seventeen

“Welcome to the family.” Teal grinned and lifted one of the boxes from the back of Cyan’s truck.

“Thought I already was.” Alex grunted under the weight of the one he carried.

How had he accumulated so many items? He knew people had given him things because he’d had nothing, but he didn’t think he had this much?

Cyan jogged back out, only slowing to drop a kiss on Alex’s lips, then grabbed another box.

“You are, but now you’re living with us. Just keep it down at night.” Teal winked then walked into the house, leaving Alex muttering behind him.

When he walked in, he dumped his box on the floor in the living room and bent backward, moaning at the pain in his back. Moving sucked.

  “In here,” Teal shouted.

  “What now?”

Alex trudged wearily into the kitchen, then stopped. The whole Dubois family was gathered in there, and on the table was a cake and presents.

“Happy moving in day!” Anna shouted.

The others all cheered, and Alex laughed. “You guys. What are you doing?”

“Well, it’s not like we need an excuse to party.” Indy smiled and passed him a can of beer.

Everyone gathered around, and Alex spent the rest of the day drinking, eating, and laughing with Cyan by his side. He had a mate, a family, and a home.

He hadn’t wanted a mate when he’d found out who Cyan was to him, but it turned out that Cyan was exactly what he needed.

  Epilogue

“I hope he’s in here, for Sky’s sake,” Indy muttered.

Cyan growled his agreement, watching Viridian pad toward him from out of the darkness.

Teal’s in place with Deacon’s people. We also have other guys stationed around the outside.

“Sound the alarm, Teal,” Indy whispered. “Let’s free our people.”

Teal howled, spurring everyone into action. Cyan followed behind Indy, with Teal and Viridian running ahead. Guards appeared, and two were quickly dispatched with bullets to the head by Liam, who was holding the sniper position from up in a nearby tree.

More guards appeared, and Cyan could hear sounds of alarm coming from inside the building. Viridian and Teal ran in through an open doorway with Cyan close behind. He scented Deacon before he saw him, knowing the wolf shifter was on his six.

Others followed and headed in all directions, making sure no room was left unsearched. Cyan ran on, following his brothers. From past experience, the cages that held shifters were generally located farther in; that was where they were headed. The brothers had promised Sky they would find her mate, and they wouldn’t break that promise.

Cyan followed Viridian when he turned right, leaving Teal and Indy going left when the corridor split. He ran on, checking all the rooms as he passed until they both stopped at the first room that held cages.

Cyan didn’t need to walk in to know they had lost some already. The scent of decaying flesh hung in the air, and Vir gave a small whimper.

  “I know,” he whispered.

He forced himself to walk in, even when a large part of him wanted to turn tail and runaway, but he had a duty to his kind, and he wouldn’t leave any behind.

He counted the number of cages. Twelve. The first held dead wolves, and his heart ached for what Deacon and his wolves would go through. The next held a Siberian tiger, but Cyan doubted he would survive the night. He was emaciated, his fur matted.

Sapphire. We have dead and dying here. Need immediate assistance.

  The doc’s on his way.

He continued down, checking each cage. Six dead, two critical, and two that would need treatment but would likely survive.

Dr. Alvarez came in with two assistants, and Cyan passed everything on. He worked on the two critical cases, assessing them quickly.

“They need to change back to human form.”

Cyan squatted. “I don’t think they have the strength.”

“Indigo!” Alvarez shouted. Indigo padded in and looked at the tiger lying so still on the floor. “You need to force the change.”

Indigo changed form and stared incredulously at him. “I can’t do that.”

“Yes, you can. If a shifter is strong enough, they can, and you are our mayor. We voted you into power. Use it and help me save him.”

Indy growled, and Cyan stepped in. “I’m a str
ong shifter. I’ll do it.”

  “Cyan, don’t so this.”

“And have him die, Indy? I know you don’t like forcing the change on another shifter. I’ll do it for you.”

Cyan got down on the floor with the shifter and stared into his virtually cloudy eyes. “It’s gonna hurt, but I need you to change. Will you let me help you?”

The tiger whimpered, and Cyan reached out, holding his hand over the matted and dirty fur. Indigo touched his neck and nodded. Cyan pushed his shift outward—there was no other word to describe it—and then he felt Indy’s power thrum along his.

His hair stood on end, and it felt like electricity was rushing through his body. Then suddenly, the tiger was gone, and in its place lay a young girl who immediately jerked.

  “Cardiac arrest!”

Indy pulled Cyan back and watched them work on her, zapping her with the cardiac defibrillator and miraculously bringing her back. The three of them worked efficiently and had her hooked up on every machine they’d brought with them, IVs placed in her hands.

A stretcher appeared, and she was whisked out of the room. Alvarez turned to work on the other critical, and five minutes later, he was out too.

Teal padded in and rubbed up against Cyan, and Cyan knew his twin was upset.

  How many?

Including here? Ten dead, eight critical, and twelve need medical treatment, including Sky’s mate.

  He’s actually here?

Yeah, and Sky’s with him now. Some of the shifters...

We’ll get them, Teal, every last one of them. We’ll find them all and set them free, before we hunt the fuckers down and make them pay.

Several hours later, Cyan stood watching the place burn to the ground and reached out to Alex, needing to hear his mate’s voice.

  I’m coming home.

I’ll be waiting for you. I love you, Cyan.

  I love you too.

  The End

  Thank You

Thanks for reading What He Needs. I had Cyan and Alex’s story in my head for some time before I sat down to write it. I always knew these two would end up together and I think they’re perfect together.

It was nice to see some of the Rescue Inc guys appear and you’ll be reading more of them in future books.

I’d be grateful if you could leave a short review on Amazon. Your support really does make a difference and I read all the reviews personally so I can get your feedback and make this book even better.

Coming up this year will be more Salutem novels and Sater’s Creek will be a four, maybe five books series. I can’t decide if someone should have a book or not!
