Out of Bounds: A Quick Snap Novella Page 7

by Mary B. Moore

Fortunately for him, he’d used their correct names and Elia spoke fluent Italian seeing as how his family were originally from there, but LA Galaxy and A.C. Milan? If Cam knew anything about the teams, Will was screwed.

Spoiler alert: Cam knew nothing about the teams, and instead was blown away by the ‘brilliance’ in front of him.

“Holy shit, wow. Great to meet you both. I tried out for the Seattle Sounders, but decided it wasn’t the path I wanted to go down. Why go with a small team when I could join one of the better ones, right?” he lied, making Hayden growl.

Hell, even I was offended by the insult to the team and it wasn’t even mine. Who the hell did this ass think he was? He didn’t decide, he was rejected pure and simple.

“Such a fucking dick,” Stan sighed behind me, getting noises of agreement from all of us.

“Cam LaValle, I’ve heard of your skills,” Elia said, laying on the Italian accent but sounding impressed. “You are team free?”

“I am. I’m focusing on my training so that I can try out for some international teams, maybe even English ones.”

Someone murmuring something sounded from Will’s end of the line.

When Cam asked him to repeat what he’d said because he didn’t hear it properly, Gerardo said, “That would be unlikely.”

“Why do you say that?” Cam asked, sounding offended.

“I know some of the managers for the Premier League teams, and English footballers have been the center of a lot of drama. The players are the topic of a lot of kiss and tell stories in the magazines which causes a lot of embarrassment and stress for the players and their marriages. The teams become strained and the fans become more defensive at games which leads to a lot of fights and negative media attention. The story you were part of recently would be seen as a negative against you, regardless of the rare and truly phenomenal skills I’ve seen from you. I was at your try out for the Sounders and your play was unforgettable.”

There was a short silence, but then Cam excused himself quickly. We watched from our spot in the coffee shop across the road as he ran to his car, his phone pressed tightly to his ear.

“What do you think?” I asked Rajesh who was listening via Craig’s phone to what had been going on.

“I think you have a man running to fix the mess he’s made,” he chuckled.

Hoping that he was right, I glanced up as Will, Elia and Gerardo walked through the door, all three of them smiling smugly.

“Tell us we’re not awesome,” Will dared as he took the seat beside me and reached for the glass of iced tea that I’d been drinking.

Before he could touch it with his lips, I snatched it back and downed it in one.

“No,” I growled, setting the glass down heavily on the table.

“But you let Ashley do it the other day! I thought you were cured of that weird shit.”

Looking between the two of us, Jason frowned. “What weird shit? If there’s any weird shit involving my daughter, I’ll—”

“No, it’s nothing like that. Well, mainly,” Will stuttered through his laughter. “Kip has a phobia of eating or drinking something someone else has touched. You could take a bite of your sandwich and put it down next to his and he won’t eat it.”

Glancing up, I watched as Hayden’s lips twitched as he looked down at a cookie with a bite out of it that was on a plate next to another one—the bitten one being his and the untouched one mine.

Considering he didn’t look surprised, I had to assume he knew of my problem and had done it on purpose.

Leaning back in his chair, Jason grinned widely. “Well then, this is going to make family dinners interesting.”

“But he lets Ashley do it,” Will reminded them. “Why’s she different?”

“Because he knows where her mouth’s been,” Stan snickered, making both members of the Wilkes family sit up straight in their chairs and glare across the table at me.

“Nah, it’s because he loves her,” Will argued. “Isn’t that right, Sutherland?”

I didn’t see the point in hiding it, but at the same time I hadn’t told Ashley yet, so it didn’t feel right admitting it right now.

Still, I’d be lying if I said that the fact it was the truth didn’t make me grin like a clown.

Standing up from the table, I put some notes down to pay our bill. “Men, it’s been a blast as always, but I have a beautiful woman—”

“The love of his life,” Will interjected.

“Waiting for me at home,” I continued with a smirk. “Thank you all for your help today—you especially, Will, Elia and Gerardo. Rajesh is going to get in touch with his contact at Seattle Whispers later for phase two.”

Waving goodbye, I’d just reached the door when Will called out, “Are you going home to make sweet love to Ashley? I mean, you’re past the point of calling it sex, which is clinical and unemotional, right? Making love is—”

The door had just clicked shut behind me, but I still heard his laughter through it when Jason and Hayden lunged for him.

The thing was, he was right. Sex was a sterile term in comparison to what Ashley and I did together in bed. Or on the couch. Or the bathroom. Or the stairs…

Wherever and whenever, ever since the first time, it’d been more.

And I couldn’t wait to tell her.

Threading my fingers through Ashley’s hair as she flicked the tip of my cock with her tongue, I marveled at how we’d ended up like this.

I’d walked through the door, caught her when she’d jumped at me and wrapped her legs around my waist, quizzing me about what’d happened, and once I’d told her she’d ordered me upstairs to my bedroom.

Which led us to now, with me lying on my back as she kissed all over my torso, and then licked a thin line from my sternum to where she was now sucking lightly on the tip of my shaft.

Fisting a handful of hair gently, I ordered, “Suck it deeper.” When she complied, I followed it with, “And harder.”

Looking up at me, she held my eyes as she took more of my length into her mouth and increased the suction as she fluttered her tongue on the underside at the same time. I had to hold my breath as the sensations hit me at the same time, driving my control to the point of breaking.

Seeing what she was doing to me, she brought her hand into the mix, too, and moved it torturously slowly up and down at the same time as her mouth.

When I couldn’t take it anymore, I pulled her up and off me with a pop, put her astride my lap and then notched my tip at her entrance.

Keeping eye contact, I held her hips and urged her to slowly lower herself down my length.

  It was intimate.

It was heaven and hell at the same time.

  It was beautiful.

Feeling her thighs tremble, I tightened my grip slightly and supported her through her descent until she’d taken all of me.

Running my hand up her back, I pressed down between her shoulder blades, urging her to lower her face down closer to mine.

When she was where I wanted her, I leaned in so that my mouth was at her ear as I withdrew from her hot, wet tightness, and whispered, “I love you, baby. I don’t care if it’s too soon, too fast, or goes against whatever the rules of the dating game are. I’m making my own up, and they say I get to tell you how I feel, whenever I want.”

Her back shuddered under my hand, and I wasn’t sure if it was because of what I’d told her or the way I was taking her.

Putting her hands down on the mattress either side of my head and bracing her weight on them, she took over the movements up and down, slamming back down to the base of my cock, then swiveling her hips in a tight circle and driving me out of my mind.

“I’m glad you changed the rules, because I love you, too,” she whispered back to me. “Even if you are a giant pain in the a—”

I didn’t let her finish what she was saying.

Instead, I twisted us so that I was lying over her on the bed and cleared her mind of anything and
everything that was going on, apart from what I was doing to her right then.

  Chapter 10

  June 3rd, 2020

Seattle Whispers discovered a secret today: the recent article in Seattle People Magazine about Kip Sutherland and Ashley Wilkes was fictional and the result of bruised egos.

On Tuesday, the article quoted Missy Tobas as saying that at the recent Lust for Life Gala —which raised over $624,000 for the charity— Ms. Wilkes threatened Ms. Tobas if she interfered with her intended relationship with Mr. Sutherland, a tight end for the Seattle Seahawks.

On the night in question, Ms. Wilkes bid $50,000 for a date with Mr. Sutherland during ‘The Bachelor’ bid. There were also allegations made by Ms. Tobas of cheating between the two parties, which had apparently been going on behind her back for months before the gala.

In addition to this, Ms. Wilkes’ ex, Cam LaValle, a once Seattle Sounders hopeful, had also claimed that the affair was ongoing while he was dating Ms. Wilkes. He went the extra mile and included explicit details of their sex lives, including incidences where outside parties were invited into the bedroom and Ms. Wilkes begged him to attend ‘swinger parties’ with her.

As mentioned, we discovered that the article was a result of some old fashioned bunny boiling by the pair.

In fact, both relationships ended months before the relationship between Ms. Wilkes and Mr. Sutherland began, with Mr. LaValle even following Ms. Wilkes all the way from Ohio.

The new couple have become the focus of Seattle, but not because of the salacious article, but because of the adorable photos of them that have been making their way into the press recently. Mr. Sutherland has even been photographed enjoying time with Jason Wilkes, former quarterback for the Miami Dolphins, who’s Ms. Wilkes’ father, and her brother Hayden, who is the center back for the Seattle Sounders.

After printing a retraction from Mr. LaValle, which was also featured in all news publications, the magazine has been inundated with numerous complaints, and the support for the new couple has been a true example of what Seattle is and who the Seattle public are. We support our own and refuse to allow one to come to harm as a result of lies and drama.

A number of sources close to Ms. Tobas also confirmed the breakup with Mr. Sutherland to have happened at least five months before the gala.

Ms. Tobas was unavailable for comment, but a video posted on social media this morning showed her involved in a screaming match at Roche Locks, the hairdresser to the stars, when her blonde highlights ended up orange and she was refused service to fix them. Another birdie has whispered in our ears that Ms. Tobas will also be finding other hairdressers locking their doors to her in a display of solidarity.

Will we be hearing a public apology in the near future? One involving a hat, perhaps?

We’ve also heard that there’s a special date coming.

At the end of the summer, a charity game will be played between the Seahawks and a retired Miami Dolphins team at CenturyLink Field. The game is in memory of a young teen who passed away yesterday, having lost her battle with leukemia, Liberty Echo.

All funds raised from the game will go to research into leukemia and supporting people who’ve been impacted by the disease.

Ms. Wilkes has been working on bands that were designed by Liberty before she passed away. The pretty beaded bands have an orange ribbon charm on them—the ribbon that represents leukemia—and will be available to purchase throughout the city. A local clothing company, Because I Said Sew, will be helping Ms. Wilkes with the supply, so don’t be disappointed if you don’t get one immediately because they’ll be back in stock soon.

Liberty Echo’s funeral will be held at a private location this coming Sunday, but the funeral precession will pass through the city carrying Liberty to her final resting place. We’re asking the people of Seattle to wear orange in solidarity and yell out your love and farewells to this brave and inspirational young lady as they pass.

The cortege will pass Seattle Aquarium, where Liberty was said to be a regular due to her love of the ocean. Further details of its exact route through the center of Seattle will be released this week.

An update to our story printed on June 3rd, 2020.

The funeral for Liberty Echo was met by thousands of Seattle’s residents, who lined the edges of the streets and threw orange roses as the cortege passed by.

The hearse carrying Liberty was driven by Kip Sutherland and Will Montgomery of the Seattle Seahawks. The procession was led by two other members of the Seahawks and Will and Kip’s significant others, Meg McBride and Ashley Wilkes. Behind it was a line of vehicles, all flying orange ribbons and tributes to Miss Echo, driven by other Seahawks players, Sounders players and the retired Miami Dolphins team who’ll be playing the Seahawks for charity soon.

At the funeral itself, Kip and Will assisted Liberty’s family with carrying her coffin into the church. They had all spent a lot of time with her before she died, and on the night in question were reportedly with the family holding their hands and lending their strength as Liberty passed away.

After the funeral, the two stopped to place flowers and a football on another young leukemia victim’s grave who was said to be the bravest young man Will had ever met in his life. The only details we can give was that the young man was a former patient of his fiancée, Meg McBride.

Sports teams from all over the world have been sending in donations for the foundation set up by Liberty’s family at her request shortly before she died to help leukemia sufferers and victims and their families.

In a last letter written by Miss Echo, she requested that ten per cent of funds raised should be donated to the Seattle Children’s Hospital for upgrades and ‘whatever cool stuff they can get for sick kids’.

Seattle Whispers Magazine will be donating $25,000 to the charity. Cam LaValle has also donated the $20,000 he got for his part in the article about Ashley Wilkes to the charity.

  Epilogue

  Ashley

“So, that article last week was a shock,” Meg muttered as we watched our men warm up on the field.

“Mmhmm,” I replied, distracted by the beauty of my man stretching his legs out. The pants of his uniform fit him just right, and when he bent over, I could see the outline of his…

“Control yourself,” she hissed, nudging me with her sharp elbow right in the ribs.

“Sorry. You’ve got to admit that those pants do crazy things to them.”

“Your dad’s wearing the same thing,” she pointed out, making me gag and erasing whatever dirty thoughts had been running through my head. “Anyway, back to the article.”

Seattle Whispers had printed an exclusive with Missy the week before.

Until then, she’d been sticking to her story and had insisted that I was a dirty little boyfriend stealing slut, until man after man had come forward to tell about how she’d been sleeping with them since September last year—before she’d broken up with Kip.

With proof flying around social media, she had no choice but to think twice about her being the hurt party.

See, Missy’s dad was the owner of a car dealership which dealt with the importation of luxury vehicles and boasted a long list of celebrity customers. With the shame that her insistence brought, he began to lose those customers, so he withdrew his financial support and made it common knowledge that things weren’t copacetic between them in order to save face.

With none of daddy’s money, none of his influence, her hairdresser and all of the other more prestigious hair salons refusing to tend to her locks, the doors of her exclusive designers closed to her and people treating her like she was an infectious disease, the men she’d normally use as back up financially no longer around, she finally gave in and admitted she was a big old liar, liar, pants on fire.

She also got paid $5,000 for the story, every penny of
it being donated to the new Liberty Foundation.

As for Cam, he was now in the UK, hoping to sign with a soccer team called Arsenal. He’d also signed an agreement with an agent that he wouldn’t bring any drama to any club he was signed to or the deal. Oh, and he’d also given half of his sign-up bonus to the charity.

He was out of my life, and out of Seattle.

“Camber, the editor-in-chief of the magazine, contacted us to say she was delivering a copy of something to us the night before they printed it, but we weren’t allowed to discuss it with anyone, so we were semi-aware that it was happening,” I admitted, picking at a ragged piece of nail on my thumb.

All of the other WAGs were immaculate and looked like they weren’t sitting in the sun and sweltering heat… and then there was me.

“Was that how you did that?” Raine, Stan’s new girlfriend, asked from her seat beside mine, nodding at the big blue burden on my left leg.

  Yes, I’d injured myself again.

“No,” I sighed, fighting against pulling the threads that kept coming loose from the Velcro straps that were around the brace keeping my leg straight. “The alarm went off in Hayden’s house on Monday as I was walking down the stairs, and it scared the hell out of me. I missed the step I was taking and boom.”

After Cam had retracted his allegations and lies, making it clear that we’d broken up long before I’d even met Kip and had never once shown any interest in swinging, the security system had been completed at Hayden’s house and I’d moved home. My family were scared that I’d be the focus of a crazy psycho after what Cam had said, so they went a bit over the top with the new security and making sure it was armed.

Things had been great between me and Kip, but I wanted to spend time making the relationship stronger, and living together so early on in it didn’t feel right. He’d been against the idea, but when I pointed out I was only next door, he’d given in and begrudgingly accepted it.
