“Well ladies, now that we have to try to navigate our new lives, find our circles, and start to do High Alpha kinds of stuff, I should probably be off,” Iris said as she stretched her arms wide. She removed her robe and dropped it to the ground. “I love you guys. Be safe and be brave.”
She shifted into her Griffin and cawed as she flew back toward her home. Indra followed suit, taking off her robe before giving each of the sisters a nod. “I’m here if you need me. I love you both. Be safe out there, you are now High Alphas.”
She gave them a smile and dove into the water, shifting into her Dolphin as she hit the surface. Brighid and Althea watched as she leapt through the water, disappearing over the horizon. Brighid untied her gown and put her hand on Althea’s shoulder. “I love you, little sister. Be safe out there, and remember what Mother said. You can call on her, but you can call on us anytime, too. We’re here for you.”
Althea hugged Brighid tightly. “I love you, too.”
Brighid stood back and shifted, the smoke encircling her as she transformed into her Dragon. The large scales down her back were no longer white; they had turned golden with her crowning. Althea smiled and waved as her sister flew off, disappearing with her cloaking overhead. Althea stood on the banks, staring down at the scroll in her hand.
“Well, Bear, it’s just me and you,” she said, turning and beginning to walk away. “We will do the Matriarch proud, and let no being stand in our way. We are the Protectors of the Shifters, watchers of all creatures, small and large.”
