A Note About the Illustrators
Laurel Long specializes in book illustration. Her debut work, The Mightiest Heart (1998), was awarded the Gold Medal by the Society of Illustrators. The Magic Nesting Doll (2000), a collaboration with author Jacqueline K. Ogburn, was included in the Los Angeles’ 100 Best Books project, a recommendation list developed by the Los Angeles Unified School District Library Services and the International Reading Association. Most recently, her work has appeared in the 2012 Communication Arts Illustration Annual and in an illustrated edition of The Twelve Days of Christmas (2011).
Jeffrey K. Bedrick has received international acclaim for both his fine and commercial art since the early 1980s. He has created illustrations for books, magazines, and other publications. As a concept artist and animator, he contributed to several film and television productions, including Shrek 2 and The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea. Bedrick lives in Northern California.
