propped the pillows against the back of the couch. Settling in, he waited for Logan to arrive with the popcorn.

“Do you want me to find Nikolai?” Logan asked, sitting on the couch and propping the pillows behind him.

Chance’s brows furrowed. “No, why? He’s probably running around like a little kid with Jacob and Seth in the woods.”

“Oh. I just thought you’d want him here.” Logan sat back and put the popcorn between them.

  “Isn’t movie night our

  thing?” Chance asked.

Logan sat back in surprise. “I…well, yeah. I just thought, you know…”

Chance looked at Logan, confused. “No, I don’t know. What?”

“Never mind,” Logan said, sitting back and getting

  comfortable.

“No, tell me.” Chance shifted to look at Logan.

“I just thought, well, you know, that you and Nikolai…” Logan looked away, a blush

  creeping up his cheeks.

“Me and Nikolai?” Chance shook his head in confusion. “Me and Nikolai what?” Chance studied Logan’s face, and then it hit. “Oh! No, no, no. I mean we’re friends and all, but I don’t think of Nik that way.”

“You don’t?” Logan raised his brows.

Chance chuckled. “No, it’s not like that. He’s a really good friend and that’s all.”

“Oh, okay.” Logan sat back and popped a handful of popcorn in his mouth.

“Wait a minute.” Chance sat up, regarding Logan. “You thought Nik and I were, like, involved or something?”

“It’s just that you guys spend a lot of time together, that’s all.”

“I spend time with you, too.” Chance smiled, sitting back again. “Now shush, and watch the

  movie.”

Of course, Chance ended up right next to Logan as the movie started. He hated horror movies and only watched them because he could almost crawl into Logan’s lap and have an excuse for doing so. During an extremely gruesome part, Chance covered his eyes as always and Logan laughed.

“Why do you always do that? You know what’s going to

  happen.”

“Doesn’t mean I want to watch it before bed.”

“I’ll be with you,” Logan said, removing Chance’s hands from his face. “You know I’d never let anything happen to you.”

Chance looked into Logan’s beautiful eyes; there really was no easy way to explain them. They were a shade of aquamarine with hints of grey and blue - his dark hair made them even sexier.

  “Why?” Chance asked.

Logan blinked in surprise. “What do you mean?”

“Why will you never let anything happen to me?”

“Because…because you’re Chance,” Logan stammered. He realized he still had Chance’s hands in his and now they were inches apart. His eyes fell to Chance’s lips; he couldn’t stop himself even if he wanted to.

  “Logan?” Chance whispered.

Logan’s breath fanned his face, a warm flush spread over his cheeks and tingles spread through his body, every nerve alive and pounding a sweet chorus in his head. Hands were on his face and then Logan’s lips found his mouth, dragging a low moan from his throat as Logan’s tongue slid across his lips, begging for

entrance. Chance opened his mouth and Logan brushed inside

inquisitively, seeking every corner, every minute taste.

Chance was eased onto his back as Logan crawled on top of him, his erection brushing

Chance’s thigh. Another low moan rose from him as Logan slid down his body and the kiss intensified. He’d never had someone kiss him so…thoroughly. Chance’s body was tingling from every inch of skin that Logan touched; fingers brushed his sides and over his erect nipples. A slow heat built in his toes, rapidly covering his whole body as Logan’s kiss became more passionate, and hands searched for more skin.

The heat in the cabin had gone up by at least twenty degrees as the kiss went on and on. Chance felt the sweat dripping from

Logan’s brow, disappearing as soon as it hit his skin. His fingers pulsed as Logan’s hands descended down his body. The heat climbed and climbed until Chance couldn’t breathe from it. A low throb began in his shoulders and spread down his arms.

  “Logan…”

  “Chance…oh God…” Logan panted.

“Logan…shit…something’s happening.” Chance moved away from Logan on the couch. His fingers were pulsing red. “Oh God…”

“Point them at the fireplace!” Logan moved off the couch.

Chance barely had time to move his hands. Fire blazed from his fingertips and hit the fireplace. The logs exploded as the heat hit them. Chance panted on the couch as his body slowly came down from the power inside him.

“Holy shit, what the hell was that?”

“Talk about getting hot for a guy,” Logan waggled his

  eyebrows.

  “Smartass,” Chance

grumbled. He looked up quickly. “Wait, you’re not freaked out?”

Logan sat on the end of the couch and took Chance’s fingers; he kissed the tips. “Nope. It’s just who you are, Chance. I think for now, we should abstain from getting too freaky though.”

Chance nodded. “I agree. Until I get a handle on this we shouldn’t, um...well you know. I don’t want to hurt you.”

“You wouldn’t, Chance.” Logan palmed Chance’s face.

  “I didn’t think...”

“You didn’t think what?” Logan asked.

“That you wanted me that way.”

  Logan smiled, taking

Chance’s face in his hands. “I did, I do, and I have for a long time.”

  “Why didn’t you say

  anything?”

“I wasn’t sure if you were ready to move on. I’m still not sure, but I have to try.”

“But I thought you only dated women?”

  “I did,” Logan tilted his head in thought. “I don’t know;

something about you called to me, though. From the moment I saw you at the scene of that fire, you looked so lost and all alone and then we got to know each other, we talked all the time and I just…” Logan shrugged his shoulders. “I don’t know, the next thing I knew I had feelings for you. It kind of snuck up on me.”

“I’ve been having feelings for you for a while, too.” Chance looked up shyly.

  “Really?”

“Yes, I’m surprised you didn’t notice me staring at you.”

“I’ve been out of the game for a long time,” Logan said. “I wouldn’t even know what to look for anymore.”

“Will you tell me about her…the one who broke your heart?”

Logan climbed onto the couch and sat back against the cushions. Pulling Chance into his chest, he wrapped his arms around the younger man.

“Shana and I met in college, she was pre-med and I was getting my JD. I didn’t know she was taking pills to stay awake and then she graduated to harder drugs. I tried to make her go to rehab, but she refused. One night I found her in a back alley and I knew she’d been bitten; I could smell the werewolf on her. She had a needle sticking out of her arm and her face was pale. I took her home and cleaned her up; it wasn’t until a few hours later that the change came. Her eyes started to turn yellow and that’s when I knew she’d gone rogue,” Logan sighed, sadly.

“There was nothing you could do?” Chance asked sadly.

“No.” Logan said. “Once you’re bitten, that’s it. For Shana the change came faster because she was a woman. She tried to kill me; I had no choice.”

Chance looked up at Logan’s face. “I’m so sorry.”

“It’s okay; it was a long time ago. After that, Locke and I

reached out to werewolves like ourselves, trying to find out how many of us were left. A lot of the packs went into hiding; we were dwindling down to nothing with the rogues biting and turning more and more of us. We found Jackson and his pack first. With Seth and Jacob being ex-SEALs it made sense to work with th
em, and then Tristan came onboard. Tristan had been a SEAL before he went into

practicing law. Then slowly we recruited Hayden, Noah and Ross; they are all Delta Force.”

“So you had your own little army?”

“Yes, but it still wasn’t enough. We tried to fight them in wolf form at first and figured out pretty quickly that being in human form worked much better. More mobility and we could take them out faster. We still have to protect vulnerable areas when we fight, but we’ve taken out more and more, and now with the help of the rest of the packs…” Logan

shrugged his shoulders. “Not to mention that with Vince, Nikolai and Devin Lyons along with the Skull Blasters, we are making a huge dent.”

“Locke had to kill his ex, didn’t he?” Chance asked.

Logan nodded. “EJ went rogue in weeks; Locke had no choice.”

“That’s why he won’t get involved with Mitch, isn’t it?”

“The rogues know, somehow they know, and if they get wind of Locke having a mate, they’ll make a beeline straight for Mitch.”

  “It’s not fair.”

“No, it’s not, but this is the life that’s been given to us. No matter how much Locke feels the pull to Mitch, he won’t endanger him purposely.”

  “You’ve…never been

  mated?”

  “No, Shana wasn’t my mate.”

“I don’t get that pull to you, at least not the mate pull, but there is one hell of a different pull to you,” Chance smiled, all dimples.

“Yeah?” Logan grinned, kissing Chance’s forehead. “I get that.”

Chance looked at the time. “Wow, it’s three in the morning.”

“Better get some rest,” Logan pulled the blanket over them. “We have training in the morning.”

“So you are going to teach me how to fight?”

“Yep, so close your eyes and get some sleep. I’m going to work you until you pass out.”

  “Peachie.”

  ~~

Chance woke up to find strong arms around him, and his head on Logan’s muscular chest. He smiled and nuzzled in closer. Last night he’d finally gotten to kiss Logan, and his body had reacted… explosively. He was going to have to talk to his mother about that; he couldn’t incinerate the man he had feelings for. Chance chuckled softly and the arms around him tightened.

  “Good morning,” Logan said, yawning.

  “Morning.”

  “What time is it?”

  Chance peeked over them at

his watch. “Ugh, it’s eight.” Logan stretched out on the bed; he pulled Chance on top of him and cupped his face in his hands.

“How did you sleep?” Chance felt his dick

hardening immediately. “Um, good? But I think I better get off of you before the heat rises in the room.”

“That is so fucking hot,” Logan laughed. “Only you would find this sexy,” Chance rolled his eyes.

Logan rolled over, pinning Chance to the bed beneath him. “I do find you sexy, warlock or not. I know the kind of man you are as well, and you would never hurt anyone intentionally. Now,

however, you are going to have to hurt rogues intentionally. Don’t ever think you can barter, explain, or trust them; they will rip your throat out the second you turn your back on them and they will turn you without so much as a second thought. I’m so glad Wayne bit you.”

“That sounds funny.” Chance wiggled under Logan and felt Logan’s erection on his hip.

Logan bent down, nuzzling Chance’s nose with his own. “We should get up and get ready.”

“Do we have to?” Chance arched his body into Logan’s.

Logan closed his eyes and prayed for self-control. “As much as I would love to lie here all morning, we have some work to do.”

  “Okay, I’ll go shower.”

“You might want to wait until we’re done to do that.”

Chance tilted his head. “You’re going to work me that hard?”

  “Oh, yeah.”

  ~

Chance hit the ground with a loud grunt. Logan stood above him with his hand extended. Chance gripped his hand and was pulled to his feet. They’d been at it for over an hour now and Chance’s whole body was one big ball of pain.

Being a werewolf meant pain was fleeting, but being thrown to the ground again and again was making it harder for him to

recuperate fast. Logan, as always, was shirtless and wearing what looked like karate pants. They were snug around his waist and flared out at his feet; sweat ran in rivulets down his chest. Logan’s face was one of pure beauty; the sweat-covered brow just made him that much sexier.

Chance gripped the swords in his hands and crouched into attack mode. He’d chosen the shorter swords instead of the long sword. It just wasn’t as

comfortable in his hands and Logan had told him fight with whatever he was most comfortable with.

  “Straighten your back;

always keep your head up, eyes on your opponent.”

Chance corrected his stance and waited, watching Logan’s hands and face for any sign of attack. The first movement came and Chance moved to his left, just barely missing Logan’s foot in his face.

“Good.” Logan drew his sword behind him, one hand out in front of him. “Always keep one foot behind you, and always strike with your strongest arm. Use your body mass to propel yourself forward to get the hardest strike.”

Chance readied himself, the blow came and he instinctively put his hands up in defense. Logan flew backwards hitting the ground with a loud grunt.

“Oh shit!” Chance ran to Logan’s side. “Are you okay? I didn’t mean it!”

Logan sat up, his body a mass of tingles. “Damn, that was pretty potent.”

  “Are you okay?”

Logan stood up and wiggled his arms in front of him.

“Yeah, I think so,” Logan said.

  “I don’t know what

happened.” Chance looked Logan over. “Are you sure you’re okay?”

“Yes, calm down. That was actually really good; you’re coming into your powers a little every day.”

“Speaking of that,” Chance looked toward the lake. “Would you like to come with me while I meditate?”

  Logan grinned. “Sure.”

Chance had to smile. “You’re really not freaked out, are you?”

“Nope, I think it’s pretty damn cool what you’re capable of. I always knew you were special, even before the whole witchcraft thing.”

“I guess I should have been more upfront about it, huh? It’s just that in the past, people thought I was crazy when I mentioned it, so I figured if I didn’t mention it to you or Locke, you’d treat me

  normally.”

“Being a warlock is part of who you are, Chance.” Logan palmed Chance’s face. “And Locke and I are proud to have you as part of our pack.”

“You guys treated me like part of the family from day one. I won’t forget that.”

  “Good. Now, let’s go

  meditate.”

  ~~

Chance sat with his toes in the water as he listened to the sounds of the woods around him. He couldn’t help but peek out of the corner of his eye from time to time to look at Logan’s profile. The man was just so stunningly

beautiful. Chance took a deep breath and closed his eyes again. A slow throb started in his toes as he relaxed his muscles, it moved up his calves and spread throughout his body. Chance’s heart beat faster; his blood pumped faster sounding like a roar in his ears.

  “Wow.”

Chance opened his eyes to see Logan wide-eyed.

  “What?”

“You’ve got, like, this energy around you.” Logan looked around to see wildlife sitting all around them. “Okay, that’s freaky. I feel like I’m in a Disney movie. If they start singing, I’m out of here.”

One of Neela’s pups jumped on Logan’s back, growling and pulling at his shirt with his teeth.

“Hey, little one,” Logan laughed, remo
ving the pup’s teeth from his shirt and scruffing its ears. He held the grey pup up and smiled at its squirming.

“They are so cute at that age.” Chance laughed at one of the other pups crawling up his leg. He took Logan’s hand. “Can I ask you something?”

  “Sure.”

  “Are you sure you’re okay… well…you know…”

“Waiting for you?” Logan provided. He smiled when Chance nodded, a flush spreading up his neck. “Yes, I’m okay with it. Being with you isn’t just about sex, Chance. I like you, a lot more than I thought I could.”

  “Because I’m a guy?”

Logan nodded. “There is that. But it’s weird, you know? I dated women my whole life, but the more time I spent with you, the more I realized I was developing feelings for you. Then - I don’t know, one day it just hit me upside the head. I was attracted to you in a way I didn’t think I could be.”

  “I’ve never been with

women,” Chance said with a shy grin. “And I’ve only been with one man. I had no idea what I was doing either,” Chance sighed. “I don’t have much experience. I hope I don’t disappoint you.”

Logan took Chance’s face in his hands. “You could never disappoint me, Chance; what I feel for you goes way beyond sex. Don’t ever think you’d ever be a disappointment, I’m just happy spending time with you.”

“The kiss was pretty damn hot,” Chance chuckled.

  “Literally,” Logan laughed.

“You are an excellent kisser. Did it feel weird to kiss me?”

Logan sat back, thinking about their explosive first kiss. “No, not really. I always thought when you kissed another guy you’d have like stubble burn.” Logan palmed Chance’s face. “But your skin is soft, the hairs are fine so I didn’t really notice it.”

“My dad was pretty hairless, except for his head. My mom always said she was lucky to have a man who hardly ever had to shave.”

“Aideen said you spent some time with your mom.”

Chance nodded. “She looks so beautiful, like the last day I saw her. I had a hard time in college after they died. My school was paid for by them so I stayed, but it was hard. I had people whispering behind my back,” Chance sighed sadly. “As soon as I could leave, I did. That’s when you found me.”

“I’ll never forget it either. The first time I saw you running out of that fire, I knew you were
